You can’t say there was an attempted gun grab for sure because the police force and the government won’t come out and clear their side of the story. If the government and police force would come out and give their side of the story may be, just may be people could view it differently. All we know for fact is that Mike Brown was unarmed and had his hands up before he died. Stories have come out of a struggle but was it with the friend Mike Brown was with or was it Brown himself? No one knows because the police won’t tell their side of the story and they won’t even say who the officer was that was involved in the shooting. As I keep saying, much of this is the government of that areas fault because all the community is asking for is answers and justice. Instead you get police patrolling the streets and hiding so far as to even keep media from reporting the facts on the ground.
The reason racism is shouted is because you have an officer gunning down an unarmed black man in a majority white police force with, at this point, no right to do so. Also, can you find consistent stories throughout history where a majority black police force goes in and oppresses white people? So no one is jumping to conclusions. You have a neighborhood that wants answers and the government is refusing to give any. So you protest and create disruption until you get it. Hell, you can’t even get Obama to really address what is going on there and yet he can make a statement about Robin Williams. You keep saying wait for the facts but it is the government and police force that are not providing any facts which only increases the chaos.
As far as limiting the crime other than blaming police I will admit black people need to be more about creating businesses and practicing group economics. However, people never address the fact that in the black community unemployment has consistently been double that of white employment for well over 30 years, the huge lack governmental spending in majority black schools, and the accelerated incarceration rate of blacks as opposed to whites for things like drugs. All this knowing that blacks are no more likely to use or sell drugs than whites. Economics and safety are the two main catalysts for any productive society. Both of which are things that have lacked in the black community from inside and outside forces.
You said it yourself “property rights have to be protected”. Property including your own body. I said it before and I will say it again. You can’t have a strong economic base if the people that are supposed to protect you are corrupt. Go to any country and the more corrupt the government and police force the weaker the economy usually is in that area. However, people keep yelling black on black crime but if you look at statsitics crime is down even among black people. You look at a case like Chicago and go “look at all the black males killing each other”. You take one specific area and apply that to an entire nation which is not the case.
As far as the statement “UBN’s weren’t in the shape they are today back when open discrimination and segregation was the norm” there wasn’t much of a choice. Black people had to stick together or face things like lynchings and being economically deprived. It’s not like white people were going to help them do much of anything. It doesn’t impale the notion though that discrimination is responsible for their current state as the consistent unemployment of blacks prove and the incarceration of blacks prove.
