Guess I could translate it if people are interested. Could anyone take a picture of the inside of the Pro Fighting Stick ? Kinda curious to see if it differs from the KUNGFU (which doesn’t have a PS/Home button and player indicator).
Also had one of those xbox360 version of the stick. Tested it on the PC; it works.
Figured that the PCB is just from a regular xbox360 controller; so downloaded and installed the Microsoft drivers for it. When you plugged the unit in, it’s recognised as just a regular xbox360 controller.
The stick, LT and RT are I believe, recognised as analogue parts, so the stick is recognised a PoV hat stick. Haven’t found a way of switching between PoV and getting it recognising as a digital pad - so it’s much like a Hori FS3 (on the PC) in that respect.
The one emu that I’ve tried is winkawaks, it’s joystick detection code doesn’t recognise the stick input due to it being a PoV hat, nor does it recognise the RT and LT (due to its analogue nature?). Had to use xpadder to remap the buttons, and spent an hour on the SF:alpha 3; seems to work fine.
Haven’t tested the stick on any other emus as yet, but I’ll imagine that MAME should work right out of the bat, as I believe it’s joystick detection code detects Pov, and rudder, pedal devices.
Thanks to everyone who contributed. I picked this up on Ebay for $66.65 Canadian, after shipping and taxes. Hopefully, it is not a cheap ripoff version of the one you guys are describing. I’ll let you know how it goes, but I do intend of modding mine.
I just grabbed this on ebay for $40 shipped. Seems like a good deal since I have extra parts I know will fit in it. YAY! Thanks for the heads up on moddability (new word?)
I just picked up as well, I’m assuming from the same seller, have you seen any other info on this stick? I’ve been searching for a while and all I’ve found is this thread. Pretty excited to mess with it, thanks for the write up guys.
If you want an arcade stick that will last for a long time, don’t go the cheap route and get a Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 (but not a game version though). A little more expensive but much better quality, and you can also swap the parts with ease because of the Quick Disconnects. (The game versions of the HRAPs, which are HRAPs that come with art of different games on it, don’t have QDs so they are not recommended).
Of course it’s not just for the PS3 but also works on the PC with no problem at all.
It works well. I’ve never used a stick before so I can’t really rate the performance on this thing but it does the job nicely for what you pay for. I’ll just give you guys my over-all experience.
Problems I’ve encountered with this stick is that sometimes it likes to disconnect on me. It’s happened a couple of times randomly when played on the PS2.
I’m not sure what the cause is but it rarely happens. Just giving those a heads up if they are thinking of purchasing this stick.
My other gripe is that the buttons are too close to the stick. Making me feel cramped while playing.
It works really well with Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Tekken 5 and Virtua Fighters 4 Evo. All three games I’ve tried works like a charm. Excellent performance.
I have problems with Super Street Fighter II turbo and Guilty Gear XX Accent Core. It maybe just me though because I’ve just starting learning stick lol.
I find in Street Fighter II that I’d have to really focus on the input where as in Third Strike I’d only have to push down forward to do a fireball and forward down and forward again to do a dragon punch.
Guilty Gear I have trouble dashing and getting back to the neutral part of the stick before moving it again. If you’ve played Guilty Gear you know its very fast paced compared to Street Fighter.
Hope that helps others if they are considering picking this one up
BTW is there a dumby guide on how to replace this with Sanwa Joystick and Buttons? I’m really new to the whole modding your joystick thing so I’d probably need an extremely detailed guide on how to do it for this Joystick
Just got one of these last night off a Craigslist ad in Vancouver for $100 CDN, (the market for sticks here is crazy, the TE sticks are $350-$450 and EB pretty much laughed at me when I asked if they were getting any more in stock).
Was it worth it?
Yes.
It has improved my game over the standard PS3 controller many times over, BUT its not perfect, one of the buttons have stuck and the ball of the controller screwed off during a online match :annoy:, I found I needed to tighten it between rounds, if it becomes a problem I may have to glue it on.
When I bought it I had no idea what to expect as it was the cheapest stick I could find locally, I am am happy with it so far but will probably mod it or upgrade it when the prices of the better quality sticks go down.
I was gonna buy one of these sticks but at the last minute managed to find an SE for sale in my local GAME store, which i’ve since modded with all Sanwa parts.
Anyway, my mate ended up buying one from Gadget Asia. When i saw it, i was glad i found my SE.
The button layout isn’t bad, even though they are a lot closer together than the SE and the START/ SELECT buttons are in a more user friendly position in my opinion. It also has a good amount of weight to it and the joystcik position gives plenty of room to rest your hands. But the feel of the buttons and joystick, even compared to the stock kit on the SE, is not so good. The joystick is REALLY noisy and the buttons need a considerable amount more input to register.
I guess for a cheap second stick for when your buddies come round, it’s not too bad (especially as the joystick is so loud you can hear when they’re trying to pull off ultras :wgrin:), but as a main, i’d rather splash out a bit more cash.
I thought there could have been some stores out there that sell them, I just didn’t know where to look, I’m from the North Shore so I don’t get out to Richmond much, I didn’t mind paying a bit more to save the time of going out there and finding a store that sells them.
Here’s a quick update after using it for a week, I took a wrench to the base of the stick and held it in place then I tightened the ball as much as it would go and it hasn’t moved since, the buttons don’t seem to stick any more (maybe they just needed to be broken in) and my W/L ratio has improved significantly :pleased:.
