Pro Fighting Stick (PS2/PS3/PC)

I just received the Street Fighter 4 version of the “Pro Fighting Stick”. To be honest, it’s a decent stick for the money and is much better than the stock Mayflash. I modded the Mayflash with Sanwa parts and it performs MUCH better now compared to this stick, but stock for stock, this stick is much better.

I’ve taken a few pictures of the innards. Buttons are soldered to the PCB and it looks almost like an updated model of Hejdlond’s KUNGFU stick.

The stick:

All in all, I was surprised by the quality of the stick for the price (paid about 60 CAD after everything on Ebay)

I love this stick so far.
I suck at it cuz it’s stiff and I’m not used to stiff sticks, but I still love it.

One thing I don’t understand is feature #4 in the instruction manual.
I’ll quote the text (yeah they suck at English and writing):
“4, Switch between in digital and analogy mode .with LED indicate under working state.”

Does this mean you can switch the stick function between being a dualshock analog and being a dualshock dpad?(A feature that does exist on other sticks such as HRAP) If so, then how?

I suspect that would be the case.

i wonder, has it any lag? what is the real layout for ps2 and ps3? if i get to know thati would be prefering mayflash or this one

I didn’t find it had any lag at all (at least for the PS3). If you’re going to mod, the Mayflash one may be easier than this one (clearance for a JLF joystick might not be enough). If you’re not going to mod, then get this stick.

Button layout is kinda weird (requires remapping for SF4) but it’s on the picture i posted earlier.

I’ll be modding this later with sanwa (or maybe Seimitsu) parts anyway. The buttons definitely need to be replaced.

can someone please confirm whether this stick uses 30mm buttons? I was thinking of modding it with sanwa/seimitsu buttons. Cheers!

Another quick question on this stick.
Will I be able to play my PS2 games on my PS3 on this stick?

hi, i’m considering to get this stick but is it really good?

Read all the posts in the thread.

this is better or hori fighting stick 3?

Totally stuck at the moment. I am looking to mod this stick, well its more of a repair. I picked up a ps one pad the 1080 - H version as found here. http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick/pcb_diagrams/ps1_diagram1.jpg

well I am lost as to the wiring of everything and to which ground point they go to

On the pad hacking thread there is this image for a psone analog pad.

http://arkadesticks.com/hackedpads/wiredPSOneand3.3volt.jpg

can someone assist in applying these diagrams to this pro stick. once I wired the buttons and the ground. Where does each ground go as pictured in the first link? As there are three in that picture LEFT, Middle and RIGHT. SO face buttons( X,O TRI, SQU R1,R2.L1,L2 start and select) ground goes to the Left most red circle in that photo and the ground for the stick right most circle?

And because I dont want to cut the pad Where is the L1 L2/R1 R2 on this pad
http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick/pcb_diagrams/ps1_diagram1.jpg.

That site suggest you cut the excess. But in a picture for a later model of the psone pad.

http://www.slagcoin.com/joystick/pcb_diagrams/ps1_diagram4.jpg The Shoulder buttons are highlighted at the button were they branch off to the top of the pad.

On the psone pad I have for the bottom of the pad the wires are black | black| white. So on the left hand side would this translate to L1|L2|Ground then on the right Ground|R2|R1? On the face of the board it is written 3 _ 1(black | black| white) 1 _ 3( white|black | black ) if that helps.

Just got mine this morning i was kind of hoping for the same quality as the Hori Ex 2 well i only paid 35 GBP so i guess for the price its ok.
Ill see if i can get to moding it.

I got one like a few months ago and just today I realised that when I input something it stays inputed until I change inputs.

Like in Street Fighter, I stay moving left until I change to move right.

Anyone know why or how to fix it?

Hey

I can sell you one of these sticks for the xbox 360

Wireless and full sanwa parts with better artwork. (Akuma, Ryu, Ken or one with Cammy, Chun Li and Sakura

If you’re interested, just PM me.

They are premoded, so don’t post here saying “They don’t sell wireless sticks for the xbox” please.

hmmm…

Well according to you guys, the majority of you all say that this stick is pretty good for how much it’s worth. For me I’m actually planning to get this stick as well…I’m really interested in getting this(plus I only have a PS2 and really need one…went to a local tournament and someone snatch mine). And looking at the pictures of what the PCB looks like(the “guts” of it), I have to say that Tekken 5 hori stick has a little similarity comparison with this stick based on the plastic gate and how the buttons are directly soldered to PCB. Obviously the start, select and home buttons are mapped out differently.

Just for my personal view, it looks very easy to mod. A Seimitsu LS-32 joystick and Sanwa buttons would be excellent and sweet for this stick on behalf of just giving it an upgrade. Really not a big deal(for me that is).

I guess you could say this is also saying for the Hori EX2 and Hori Fighting Stick 3 as well only because the procedure for modding those two sticks would be kind of the same thing as modding the Tekken 5 Stick and for this stick. But I dunno, I’m just saying this on my opinon about this particular stick. But I am going to get it and test it out and post my review on it.

So I baught one of these, and it’s totaly in the mail right now. Just wondering if anyone has any more info on the moding side? I’m totaly new to moding and it dosn’t look that hard, but i have no idea what parts to buy. How can i tell if this thing uses 24mm or 30mm buttons for replacing them with sanwa ones? also is there a definitive stick i should get to fit in the inside? For a first stick this seems allright, but the new parts will hopefully make it worthwile?

Can someone who has the installation CD please post the drivers or upload them?

I was over at a friends house who had one of these. He saw that it caught my eye and he offered to give it to me as a gift.

Works great with PS2 and PS3 games but can’t get it to work on my PC.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey what’s up guys I’ve been reading through almost everyones posts and see people paying over $20.00 or more for this stick. For future reference if anyone plans on buying this stick visit goldenbridge.hk I got mine for exactly $11.29 after tax and shipping costs.
Anyways I find that when I switch the stick to digital mode the inputs are a lot more accurate when pressing the direction or button you want(at least it feels that way).
Anyways I’ll post up a pick of the reciept and stick tomorrow so you guys can see that I’m not lying about the sticker price.

So far I’ve only tested this puppy on the PS3 and it works as it should no complaints there. My first test run with the stick was Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting was a little “stiff” at first but after some time in Training Mode the stick “loosened up” on it’s own, no problem with button and directional inputs everything responded accurately. Since I haven’t touched SFII in a while the feeling was not there after long exposure to SFIII3S and SFIV, otherwise all the combos and moves worked just fine. My next test was SFIII3S this too worked fine without any lag or problems. Afterwards I continued onto Street Fighter Alpha Anthology to make sure all my inputs were being read correctly and that the stick wasn’t doing anything wacky. To my surprise everything was responding with 100% accuracy. To make sure this wasn’t a fluke I tested it out on CVS2 and MVC2 and just like the games before, no problems whatsoever.
One thing I’ll note though is that the stick has a little problem reading diagonals, but, after getting your hands on it you’ll solve this issue fairly quickly. I’m no veteran with sticks but can say this stick performs fairly well, almost like the Hori EX2 for the Xbox 360, though it’s nothing compared to the HRAP3SA, MCSFIV TE, and the like.

Sorry guys. I know I promised the pics with the sticker price for the stick but ended up running into some technical difficulties with the camera, so once that’s taken care of I’ll be sure to post them up right away.
