This game was really fun, I remember playing it with my brothers way back when.
I have 10 Mc-ribs riding on that.
We can only hope.
They mentioned it on The Dogface Show jokingly, I think itād be rad if they did that at Evo lol! Has to be on the dvd too.
I mostly played the SNES version and used Diablo. From the earlier post in this thread it sounded like the SNES and PSX were more or less both 2.3? Which one should I be practicing? I donāt have a stick for PSX yet but working on building one.
Oh yeah I just remembered one of the local arcades did have this game in '94 and I played Armadon at that time. Didnāt get my home copy until maybe a year later. Man this was ages ago it feels like. My neighbor played a mean Vertigo (we were probably both scrubs lol) so Iām surprised to see she is low tier.
Great thread. To me, PR was just a silly game next to ST but the the scenes info contained here and hearing a relative expert talk about the game is very interesting.
Okay, so MAT2 for PS2 is the best home version of this game? I must have the best!
So I was playing the PSX version just now and it says itās version 1.0 at the title screen. ???
Also, I noticed that in the SNES version, Diablo and Sauron are the same size. Also, in general, the camera is further away, or the sprites are in general smaller, in the SNES version.
I think between the two I have I like the PSX one better.
Audio/visual is almost on par with the arcade (not so mucho on sound). Playability is ok but they made a lots of changes on how you do specials and some stuff that didnt combo before now does. Its a bit different but very good on its own.
Yeah but it does refer to the PSX revision. They called it 1.0 and has no relationship to the arc. revisions.
As the systems werent powerful enough they made the sprites very small on Genesis and Snes. Snes is WAY better than the Gen version. Its a mix of 1.4 and 2.3 arc revisions.
I love it too! It was the one I used for that combovid in the first post! Combowise is far more versatile than the arcade.
Thx a lot! PR had a small scene here in my country that lasted like a year (till MK3 and KI were hot) and we were like 12 ppl playing it constantly. A lot of the players just left when the 2.3 upgrade came in. I loved it cause im a SF/MK player and always am open to revision changes/nerfs etc.
Glad you liked it!
Why did it take 15 years after the release date for Primal Rage, MK3, and Killer Instinct 1 to become hot in your country? I think itās awesome because I grew up during the bloody fighting game craze, but why is your country just getting into this now? I used to live in Panama, and the arcades there were either Neo-Geo, or the SNES version put into an arcade cabinetā¦
Why is Venezuela getting hype now? Is it because Chavez is spreading the wealth? Is it because the older arcade games are finally so cheap that it is finally profitable to import them to South America? Is it because like 10 people have modern computers and everybody is bumming off their emulators? Tell me whatās the deal because Iām fascinated.
(LOVED the KI-1 tournament by the way. Finals with Jago vs Cinder match was crucial! Still though, the Jago player wouldnāt need to try twice as hard to win if he had also picked Cinder )
Uh well no im talkin actually of what USED to be a PR scene. That in 1995-96-97. That much the game lasted here. We are not getting ānowā into this. My PR/MK/SF knowledge is mostly from that era. Im just trying to spread some love for PR here :wgrin: (My MK/SF skills have always been almost up to date!)
There have been here always arcades around but now there arent that much. LOL about Chavez, you dont know how much poverty there is in my country thx to that Fidel Castro clone. Go figure that since January to this date in my State there have been 605 death my guns. Murders/crime victims/etc. He is grabbing all the wealth to him, not us.
About emulators that scene here is vastly 2nd place. I mean ppl here that uses PCs for gaming plays mostly shooters/gta wathever. But its rare to see hardcore players emulating and gettin their arcade fix at home.
About arcades. As I said there have been always arcade games here. Less now than before. But as you mention it. Lots of arcade dealers have been in bankrupcy so we hardcore arc players have bought LOTS of arcade machines and boards at bargain prices :lovin:
Dont understand those comments about āVenezuela gettin hypeā
EDIT: Thx for the props from the tourney. That KI 1 was more like a ātryā to get old players back into gaming. Wasnt of that much sucess but indeed gave a good time to the players that participated. UMK3/MKT have always been played here thx god.
Sorry for my bad english!
Oh my God. I remember this. I remember playing it so much on SEGA that my mom let me keep it a few days past the rent and paid the late fees for me. Talon is where its at. (I think thats his name? I havent played it in like 8 years)
I just played this last night on PSX with a couple of friends lol.
Hehe PR is gettin looove hehehe :lovin:
Alright Hanzo, I have my psx hooked up, and am playing some PRā¦ I knew it was missing frames of animation, but I didnāt think PR psx was missing as many as it isā¦ Itās still fun, and doing the SUTJC is pretty easy once you get accustomed with itā¦ The only drawback is, playing on the original psx padā¦ :looney:
I had the Saturn version of PR, but I got rid of it (phone card and everything)ā¦ Which versions of PR can you do the SUTJC on? As the push ratio was too great for the mame version when I tried, and I have yet to try it on the MAT2 versionā¦
I was watching your PR cmv, and I liked on the Blizzard combos, how the music syncs with some of the combosā¦
Around 2 yrs ago, while on another forum, an individual named Ming, who also worked on PR had posted about what he had doneā¦ Which I responded to a few days after his post, unfortunately he has not repliedā¦
He had mentioned that PR2 was actually running on the psx hardware, at which they had so many things going on at one time in the game, that it was pushing the psx to the max, unlike any other gameā¦
Wsup NEB? Long time friend!
Actually yes on the PR psx version aside from having a bigger window to SUTJC all hits make a little more hit stun than in arc or other versions. Apes have even MORE hit stun than lets say Vertigo. I dont know if this was made on purpose to balance things a bit hehe
Yeah PSX pad is ass. Sure one get accustomed but after a while you dont want to use it again hehe.
All PR AFAIK have TJC. In ver 1.4 you could TJC foward wich lead to smoe very nasty rushdowns and combos. SNES version is a mixture of 1.4 and 2.3 as you can TJC foward hehe. Mat version has them but idk i suspended the combo recording cause it seems that the game randomly miss input commands and perfectly timed combos are a pain in the ass
Spoiler
I found a 100% combo with Diablo but just got it once and didnt rec it cause i think it was luck because the game didnt drop any input. I might try it again soon. Wow first PR 100%!
The 2nd vid was going to be a mixture of most versions available. Some RAGE combos and stuff like that. hehehe the intro was (of course) use Jurassic Park footage hehehe. Let me see if I can get some time.
That stuff about Ming sounds interesting. Lets see if we can get in touch with him.
If you happen to get in contact with Steve again, can you ask him if he has any concept art for PR? Or know if Jason Leong (the main artist for PR) has anyā¦
Maybe Steve might have some contact info for Ming as well?
And Iām wondering how much different PRās game play would be if everyone could run (or walk fast) like Talon can do?
I think Iām one of the few US players to have used that in my techniques when I played him (this being when it was being played for about a year after its debute)ā¦ I normally picked Talon whenever a player would pick Blizzardā¦ As I canāt tell you how many people would pick the Himalayan Giantā¦ Donāt get me wrong, Olā Blizzard is a great character, but when everyone is using himā¦ It gets boring, so my main characters were Armadon and Diablo.
So you have a Total Domination combo with by boy, Diablo? :bgrin: I was working on seeing if there was one for him and Armadon.
And from watching you cmv again, it looks as though you could get a Total Domination combo with Blizzard?..
Iām looking into getting a control stick, so I should be able to help out moreā¦
omg i absolutely loved this game. i remember going as a 9-10 yr old kid to lazerquest and forcing my parents to spend like a 5er on it as i was terrible and my credits didnāt last very long. It was definately the most fun I have had in a fighting game everā¦
:lovin: Diablo!
I loved this game. I sucked at it, but loved it. One of my uncleās bought me about 4 different versions of the gme: SNES, PC, Gamegear, GB a bit overkill sincei only had a SNES but it was much appreciated. May he RIP.
Yeah, do this. Would be real interesting.
