PowerUp Podcast: Midwest FGC and Beyond

I recognize your achievements :encore:

THIS!!! :china:

Nathan:

So what are some thoughts on my exhibition event idea from above? Things got a little off track and I don’t want the idea to lose momentum : )

Dope! its a great idea… I just wish it was in something thats not SSF4 or in multiple games.

fuck you j-money I did the most. also webster i’m sure they want to talk about what has been going on in the past year which is why i suggested they talk to soloist and foot since they are the only ones other than organious who have run tournaments in milwaukee and for the most part any place in wisconsin in the past year other than a few other tournamanets like the one Tiger ran last month at pauls, the ones i ran at pauls late last year, whatever jimmys been doing when he comes home, and of course the la crosse tournaments. no one here said you haven’t done shit but i’m sure they would like to talk about something a bit more recent.

still defeats the purpose…im pretty sure theres no debate on the tier list of the mw…me beating a mi team wouldnt prove anything neither would wolfkrone beating a entire chicago team sans me (as he would imo because hes #2 in mw imo) chi vs mi is what im interested in seeing and the way i suggested it made sense…mi go find 5 people with wolf as your coach and ill find 5 people for a chicago team (if they even want to do it lol we havnt really heard anything back from them this is all assuming they would want to)

True, true, this does assume that MI would want to do it. I’m sure AaronS wouldn’t be opposed to putting together a 5 man MI team though, so I will check it out. I think your suggestion works well, and mine would not have you or Wolfkrone going up against anyone but each other (so neither would be beating the whole other team). However, in the end I think you’re correct and having more of a MI v. Chicago sans yourself and Wolfkrone would actually be a bit more interesting to spectate.

I shall see what MI has to say about all this : )

hopefully after last night you have a better understanding now of the real WI scene and not the BS fabrication you may have been hearing about over the past year

you’re so full of shit dan. i know exactly what u meant.

fuck you. and just stay out of my way.

simple.

Sorry Nathan, I swear to god…this will be the last time I post nonsense in here.

The podcast with Footmeetsskull went really well. He clued me in on the history and how he and Soloist got the Tracks Tavern stuff started, and also their relationship with the ranbats run by you, Syxx.

It was a good podcast, and anyone who aids the WI and Midwest scenes in any way is doing good in my book.

I like Floe’s idea but I disagree that Ari and Wolf should not be on their respective teams. Even if they both 5-0 the other side, at least the other side gets to test them and the ruling on the field is confirmed. The best way to hype an event is to have the best players in, and it’s good for the players on both sides to play the top 2 MW players when it counts.

I also def would like to see more than SSFIV in on this, and if that happens at least OH in as well. I’m sure we could get good teams arranged with multiple states involved, esp since Arcade Legends has a lot of arcade and it could really be presented as a big deal on the showcases (3s, CvS2, ST, etc)

Now that would be spectacular. I was actually asking a GGAC player last Thursday if there would be any GGAC event worth doing with a Midwest focus. He wasn’t sure, but that and all the other games are certainly things to consider and explore.

ST especially intrigues me since I already know some of the good players in OH and IN.

I can see the MI vs CHI event both ways. Hype b/c of top players, or hype b/c of no 5-0. I’d hope that fLoE and Wolfkrone could both be on the team, but if fLoE doesn’t want to do it then that can’t really be helped. It could be mandatory to have fLoE and Wolfkrone be the anchors on both teams, making the chance of a 5-0 very low. What about that idea? This would be running on the “Pokemon” style, or whatever that’s called; SBO style, right?

Still waiting on a reply from AaronS though. It’d be kind of hilarious if TFA/MI didn’t even want to do it XD I doubt that though.

Guilty is dead in the MW.

Ohh this thread is getting good! I love the hype-ness! MW definitely needs to be playing each other more IMO!! Back in the day I was running the tournament series known as Mid-West Challenge(Old handle was Nigga_D) which encouraged the Mid-West to come together and duke it out.

I even ran a 5v5 state vs state exhibition which was damn fun and exciting! I think we need to do more shit like that as It was extremely fun getting tight with the Mid-West players and playing all weekend…and Chicago being the center of it all It would almost be ideal to do it here? What do you guys think? We could hold at least 1(or 2) per year, teams could be open for discussion! Perhaps we could talk to old Nickel City owner and see if we can use that arcade again or perhaps the new Arcade that just opened up in Chicago, Galloping Ghost Arcade :). Well its just an idea and I miss old-times!!

D

just put wolfkrone and floe last

Man i wish stl traveled more so we could play more of the east side of midwest.

That’s definitely a cool idea. Thinking that, I believe all the largest tournaments in the Midwest should adopt some sort of Midwest centric event. Getting more Midwest players to come out and represent should be a major goal, if it fits within the overall philosophy and goals of the TO.

Yep, yep. Exactly.

isn’t it more fun to just come out once a year to remind everyone who is really the best overall in the most games?

huh? more like come out and get my ass kicked for the level up.

if we all assume that floe and wolfkrone will beat the opposing teams, then all they will do is take up a spot. instead of just putting them last on the 5v5, why not have those two play an exhibition match separate from teams? that way they still play and they don’t affect the teams at all.
