PowerUp Podcast: Midwest FGC and Beyond

I’ve spoken with Devildigimon before, and I’d love to do another Wisconsin podcast! Who else runs tournaments/ranbats up there?

Myself and my friend Soloist. We run monthly tourneys together at a local tavern here in Milwaukee. I PMed you providing more details. You can check out our official tourney thread here. We host these monthly.

Episode #36 is up!

AaronS is back to talk about Michigan Masters 3 coming this September 18th. He also touches on The Fighter’s Alliance of Michigan and plans for the future of the Michigan scene. This episode is short form.

just listened to some of this…aarons you should probably go rewatch those mwc vids =P

Looks like I’m gonna have to have something at PowerUp 2011 where The Fighters’ Alliance takes on all challengers XD

That could be a cool special event, to be honest. Hmmmm.

psssh… i’ll face TFA without a flinch… the only michigan master i haven’t gotten a win on is octopus … it could be argued that i need some definite wins tho…

…totally support Eagle too

why would it be tfa against everyone? wouldn’t that be more suited for chicago vs everyone since weve proven time and time again for years that were #1 in mw =P (oooooo drama)

Ohio and Indy have the best turbo players if I’m not mistaken in the MW. Chicago has the best SSF4 player (singular) and Marvel players in the midwest. Michigan players have a lot of good players but none as good as that one Chicago player. This is what I’ve reasoned.

chicago has the best ssf4 players (plural) marvel players…we had the best st players when the game actually mattered (seth, norm, apoc)…we had the best gg players when the game actually mattered(probably still do i dont even know if they still play)…3s same thing…weve consistantly always been #1 in games that matter (the only one i can really say theres an exception for is cvs2 as we didnt really have a scene for it and mi had a strong one) thats what ive reasoned =P

yeah it’ll be better talking with someone who is actually invovled with the WI scene and chatting with soloist and foot is probably the best bet. WI scene is really comng along thanks to those two as well as a couple other people who host games consistantly in milwaukee

Fair enough but I’m thinking that besides you, other players in Chi are at least equal with those anonymous SSF4 Chi players. I haven’t seen anything that would show that in general Chi players are better at 4 other than a couple of good players that were present at MWC. I would say Floe vs everybody would be more logical than TFA vs everybody that is if you were at the event. Similar to the J. Wong gauntlet at CBB3.

that sounds fun but i think something more interesting would be chi vs mi 5 on 5 and since people say chi is just me i wont even be on the team (and i think it would only be fair to take wolfkrone off mi too then)

yo when is next podcast going up

Next podcast will be up this Friday. Tuboware from Illinois came on to talk about the University of Illinois ranbats and about the Illinois scene.

I’m loving the discussion in here, too. Chicago vs Michigan 5v5 would be very cool, and I think fLoE and also Big Marcus should be staples on the Chicago Team. Marcus made some waves at MWC and has been doing well in ranbats from what Tuboware told me. And then Michigan could retain Wolfkrone and Alucard, who are arguably the best two MI players (as far as I know). Perfect Legend also recently joined the TFA roster, so add on another potential killer to the Michigan/TFA team. Putting up the Midwest’s best in SSFIV against each other sounds like fun to me.

me beating an entire mi team wouldnt prove anything tho…people would just say “chi isnt shit without floe” like riot did earlier…neither would wolfkrone beating an entire chi team (assuming i wasnt on it) this is about whos overall better chicago or mi so i would think this would be the best way to find out

You made up the shit part not me. They could be the best players in MW, I don’t know. I’m not going to assume a bunch of players are the best in the MW because of one player either.

Perhaps we could run a type of exhibition event. There could be 4 Chicago players versus 4 Michigan players. They could play their matches without knowing who exactly on the other team they will be playing against. In the case of a 2 win and 2 loss tie between them, yourself and Wolfkrone could play a tie breaker?

I think putting in the highest level players from each area is important because it shows the complete scene, but this way the rest of the best players could still duke it out. So no matter who wins the fLoE v. Wolfkrone match (if it were to happen) the real discussion could be about how the rest of the players fared against each other because there would be no opportunity for a shutout.

WTF is this garbage. I was running tournaments all over fucking WI before those two were even around (or even you damn near). Not just WI…the fucking midwest.

Dude you really are fucking retarded, you post the most dumbest shit ever.

I mean sure Soloist and Footmeetsskull has done good things for WI (in the lil time they’ve been around), but the way you made it sound as if I was given a prodcast and did NOTHING for my state.

WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU ANYWAYS? WTF have you done?

It’s all good, Webster. Just about everyone knows you’ve done a great deal of work up in the WI scene and around the Midwest.

we all know that I have done the most for the midwest lol
