PowerUp 2010 and Raging Storm: Ohio - Cincinnati, OH - May 28-30

Whatever we did in C-bus I think works, right? Instead of doing points, we just did no gods (Mag,Storm,Sent,Cable), CapCom, Clops, Stark/Rhodes or trap characters (Doom, Blackheart). That might be it.

Nathan/Jesse/Webster, how are the systems rotating in and out? If we had a 20-man Marvel singles tourney would the DCs be allowed to stay for another tourney?

Also, since it sounds like you said it was OK for me to run Marvel, I was just going to use paper – I wasn’t sure what your setup was going to be otherwise but IMO that’s still by far the easiest way to run one small bracket.

Marvel is scheduled for 5pm on Sunday. By the time the normal Marvel tournament would end I’m sure we’d have some spare setups to use for a low-tier tournament. We’d just kick some people off of casuals for the tournament. Tournament > Casuals, of course : )

As for bracket running, funny you should mention, I just spent some of yesterday testing the way I’d like to do it. Seems to work pretty well. I’ve taken a few suggestions but I think we’re gonna make the brackets in tio, print em out, and then provide the bracket runners with a little assistance paper to keep track of their setups and what matches are currently playing. It can all be done by hand by competent people, and those are the only kind I have running brackets for me! Potentially they should not have to report back to the tio station until they come to a good match that should be streamed or until Grand Finals when it needs to be streamed.

Anyway, I digress XD

At the very least we’ll have a print out of the bracket for you to write on and keep track of players.

P.S.: tio also automatically puts letters next to matches on the bracket so you know exactly where to place people in the loser’s bracket. I’m sure you probably already know how to do that, but it sure is handy!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that BlazBlue 3v3 will also run after BlazBlue singles on Sunday. Matthias is working on getting a better idea of who will come and if they will play CT, and if a CS setup can be procured.

Sounds smart. I was thinking something similar for SB might work for pools – make the brackets with the help of software and then let TOs run stuff on paper.

I pre-regged and booked my flight. I will be there!

@Keits: Awesome! Can’t wait to see the TvC action from ya.

PRE-REG ANNOUNCEMENT!

Anyone who pre-registers during the March 1st - May 24th time frame will be the ONLY PEOPLE entered into the QCF Gaming complete arcade stick raffle. LuckyDay is going to be providing us with a really great looking case, and has also agreed to wire it all up (details on PS3 or 360, or a dual mod, will come later) so you don’t have to finish the stick yourself. The buttons will be Sanwa and the stick will be a Sanwa JLF. Pictures will be coming soon! The raffle for the QCF Gaming arcade stick is scheduled for Sunday, May 30th.

For examples of LuckyDay’s work, go to QCF Gaming

So if you want your chance to win that stick, PRE-REGISTER!

I want it.

ok pre-regged and all that jazz

There’s no need for alarm, but, POWERUP 2010 IS ONLY TWO WEEKS AWAY!

I’m very happy to see that we’ve had some pre-registration, and the number of fans on the Facebook page is promising. However, we still need you to help us, and in turn, help yourself! Do you own a PS3? Do you own a CRT TV? How about any of the games on the PU2010 schedule? WE NEED SETUPS. Please pm me with items you can bring that are on this list so you can get that discount of up to HALF OFF VENUE FEE. When you bring stuff, the tournament runs smoother, helping you to play more casuals. We will accept walk up discounts over the weekend, so please bring equipment. We will take great care of it; only staff will be allowed to handle your stuff before the tournament is over.

We ALSO NEED TABLES. This is more of a precaution, but it doesn’t hurt to put the word out. If you’ve ever been to AL, then you are probably familiar with the size and shape of the white tables used. Anything comparable to that size would be great, and WOULD COUNT TOWARD VENUE DISCOUNT if we use the table. Definitely pm me if you can bring a table.

Now to something equally important. The pre-registration giveaway! The information is all on the PowerUp website, and as of this post there are 12 people in the running for the QCF Gaming super custom arcade stick. Come on! Only 12 people? I mean, congrats to them, but I know more people want that arcade stick. Pre-registration cutoff is MAY 24th.

I will bring my wii+TvC. Thats all i can fit in my luggage. I’ll also have a few MWC shirts for sale on the cheap if anyone missed out.

Just finished registering for my venue pass and the singles tournies I’m entering in, can I enter later for teams tournaments once I assemble a team?

I’ll be entering ssf4 singles and bbct singles and teams. I can bring a ps3 ssf4 and bb if needed but no TV. Let me know if I should. Get hype for bb!

After asking around with some of the more confirmed BB players, it seems like the majority agree to switching it from BB:CT to BB:CS!

I’m hoping to run 2 and maybe 3 setups for CS depending on one factor. We need 360 compatible arcade sticks for the setups! I’m asking everyone competing in BB that has one to bring one but I’d also like to know if anyone who posts he would be kind enough to donate a stick that they may not be using on Sunday during BB singles / team tournament. I promise to properly label any equipment lent and make sure to remind all players in BB to treat equipment with respect etc, even if it makes me sound like someone’s mom or something.

I realize the Sunday schedule also has HDR… so I imagine there will be a few 360 sticks floating about once people are knocked out of that tourney. I’m not asking for many, maybe even just 1 more would mean we could complete another setup and cut tourney time down by more than you’d imagine 1 more setup could.

Also Rei don’t worry you’re not the only pad warrior. We’ll work it out. The tourney is on Sunday we’ll find time to get it together for pad warriors too.

Send me a PM if you are willing to lend a 360 arcade stick to BB on Sunday. I won’t guarantee anything but I’ll talk to Osirun about possible incentives for doing so if they’re needed.

Nathan , I sent a PM saying I could supply stuff. Dont know if you saw it or not. I realized you didnt add me to the list.

Ill be jumping in the raffle hopefuly.

Pre-reg:

Flexo
Champaign, IL
Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom

Sounds good to me. We’ll be running BB:CS instead of BB:CT! And yes, if someone could bring 360 sticks that can be used for dedicated CS setups, I’d be willing to give you a few dollars off venue fee.

Oops! I added you to my other lists, but not the one on the website. Don’t worry though, you are in there for the discount, Quentin!

Remember everyone, pre-registration is online at the PowerUp Store. Either pre-reg online or in person at Arcade Legends to be entered into the QCF Gaming complete custom stick raffle. It’s as simple as paying for your event pass; you don’t have to pay for individual tournaments until the day of, if you’d rather wait for those.

How do you feel about Strider without Doom?

strider with out doom is fine …tronnes assist is also banned

I think we banned Tron straight up in C-bus but I don’t really care. IMO it’s easier to just say X characters are banned and not worry about assists. Like if Capcom is straight-up banned then Tron def should be.

If you guys are more interested in a ratio system that’s cool and I’ll help figure one out but IMO it’s needless work.

thats fine with me i doubt many people but me wanna play her with out her y assist but her throw has kenfinite set ups :stuck_out_tongue:
