LOCATION
Arcade Legends
5951-3 Boymel Dr.
Fairfield, OH 45014

All arcade games will be on free play all weekend and you can play as much as you want with your venue fee paid!

DATE
May 28-30, 2010

REGISTRATION
Registration for getting into the venue and for the individual tournaments is currently online at PowerUp via shopping cart and PayPal.

Make sure you fill out all the forms for your bracket name and for any team tournaments you’re entering! Pre-registration in this thread will NOT count and the pre-reg listing reflects this. Walk-ups will be welcome until further notice.

SSFIV is CAPPED AT 128 ENTRANTS. Arcade Legends VENUE CAP IS 140 PEOPLE PER DAY. Due to lack of pre-registration we want to be clear about exactly how many people Arcade Legends can hold without breaking fire code and being too cramped to breathe. There will be no excuses or exceptions for anyone who shows up to register and is turned away because we have reached capacity. If you want to be on the safe side, pre-register NOW.

Well here’s something I didn’t quite anticipate, that we’d have spectators! I assumed that since we were a smaller regional we’d have exclusively players show up. Therefore, I’d like to explain how we’ll be handling any spectators at PU2010.

Spectators get in FREE! Instead of a nametag, you will receive a wristband, and the only catch is that you are not allowed to play any games at the event. This means no casuals, no playing on the arcade games. You will be a pure spectator.

Also, if we do reach our capacity as more paying players arrive, spectators will be asked to leave in order for us to avoid violating fire code.

However, if you want to hold onto to your spot, you can simply pay for the venue fee and receive a PU2010 nametag! So that’s how we’ll be handling spectators at PU2010.

SSBB

[SPOILER=Webster’s Rules]
During Pools (this may apply to SSBM or ANY fighting game that has the “pool” feature):

Pools work like this:

You play vs. a selected (seeded) handfull of players in round robin. Whoever (could be more than one person, depending on how many advance outa pools) has the best record, advances to the double elimination bracket.

Less than 36 people play in pools = we’ll have a 24 man bracket

More than 36 people play in pools = we’ll have a 32 man bracket

During the Double Elimination bracket:

Format and Settings:
Double Elimination
3 Stocks, 8 minutes time
Damage Ratio 1.0
Best 2/3 Games
All Finals Best 3/5 Matches
Items set to “Off” and “None”

Starter Stage List:

*NOTE: IT IS UP TO YOU GUYS TO REMEMBER THE STAGE LIST. IT WILL MAKES THINGS RUN A LOT MORE SMOOTHER. I WILL HAVE A COPY OF THE STAGE LIST AVAILABLE IF NEEDED.

Neutral:

Final Destination
Battlefield
Yoshi’s Story
Smashville
Lylat

Counter Stage List:

Delfino Plaza
Battleship Halberd
Castle Siege
Brinstar
Pokemon Stadium 1 (Melee Version)
Frigate Orpheon
Rainbow Cruise

Any stage not mentioned above is banned!

For SSBB Doubles:

  • Stock is set at 3 (and isn’t allowed to use cool stages like Mute City, like Melee can* )

For both SSBB and SSBM Doubles:

-Friendly Fire will be on in teams and general rules apply (don’t forget the SSBM stage specifics)

[SPOILER=Additional Rules]
Set format:

  1. Opponents choose their characters for the first match

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Double blind character selection may be called for the first match if needed. A T.O will come and keep track of what characters are used by players.
  1. Opponents start the stage striking procedure. (Who starts will be decided by playing SHANKING FIST aka RPS). Then each player will alternate striking a stage until there is 1 left. That stage is played first round. THERE IS NO RANDOM UNLESS AGREED UPON.
  2. Each player may announce one stage to be banned for counter pick of the set.
  3. The first game is played, using the stage chosen during step 2.
  4. The loser of the previous match announces the next match’s stage from either the Starter Stage List or the Counter Stage List.
  5. The winner of the previous match chooses their character.
  6. The loser of the previous match chooses their character.
  7. Repeat steps 5-7 for all proceeding matches.
  • Stalling is Banned!

  • If you use any controller styles that use the wiimote you will be responsible for removing the batteries inbetween your matches. Failure to do so can result in a DQ.

  • In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by playing SHAKING FIST.

  • No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.

  • If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage.

  • Metaknight’s Infinite Cape glitch is banned.

  • If a game ends with Bowser’s Suicide Claw or Ganon’s Arial Choke Slam the player who performed the move wins!!!

  • You are responsible for your own controller and name tag. Any malfunctions or errors that occur are your responsibility, so bring an extra controller if possible and always check to make sure you’re using the correct settings BEFORE a match is played. If a match is to be restarted due to controller functions, it must be agreed upon by both parties.

  • Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.

  • Stalling/Chain Grabbing (applies to both Melee and Brawl): The act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Any infinite chain grabs must end quickly after 200% past when the chain grab started (for example: if the CG started at 43%, you must end the CG…in some fashion… @ 243%). Also, deliberately avoiding any and all combat is stalling, where as jumping on and off the ledge doing an aerial at your opponent is simply spacing.

So with this said…

  • Marth’s hold release infinite vs. Lucus/Ness is BANNED
  • Wario’s precentage specific CG is allowed
  • DeDeDe walk CG vs DK is BANNED
  • You are ONLY allowed 50 planks (catch edge. release edge. repeat) a game (this doesn’t apply in Brawl+).

Like it or not, tripping it part of the game, and modifying setups for no-tripping is not to be used.

I’ll also clarify, that if your music hacks, stage hacks, or texture hacks are obnoxious, or make playing the game difficult (hard to see, etc…) a T.O. may ask you to take them off your setup. GET HYpe! Big shout outs to nathan and AL for holding this! Im there , oh and im first.

Oh and big ups for holding team tournies… I think everyone needs to get training.

So for the team tournies is it every city has their own team or do we just pick our own teams?

The teams tourneys that are planned for Friday are choose your own team.

This is so exciting Nathan! I’m glad this thing is going to be bigger and have more people that will fit in your garage!! It was fun helping you clean it up though! Give Marley a kiss for me. <333

This sound like it’s going to be fun.

I’ll definately set aside this date.

Thanks for the avatars too man

pP

is sf4 teams friday? then singles saturday?

Can not wait for this shit. This event is gonna be great!

Just to get the hype machine started a bit more… Unless all the cabs in the midwest are destroyed or secretly hidden, I will be obtaining an ULTIMATE MORTAL KOMBAT 3 cab for a side tourney. I’ll post it up on this thread and the locals when it is procured. Along with ST and SFA3, which I already have, are there any other requests or suggestions for an arcade side tourney? Do ST players prefer playing on American or Japanese sticks?

Also, we still want to get a 3S cab up and running soon so if anyone comes across a kit, please let me know. The one we bought has a dead cart (suicide battery is dead, the usual). I’ve heard there is a way to get it fixed but I can’t seem to find that info anywhere. It’s not a simple battery change. I think we may just have to get a whole new kit.

If anyone is wondering how AL is going to house all this hype, don’t worry. We have it taken care of

I’ll try to be there! Cool stuff, Osirun.

That is correct.

Interesting…

sounds pretty dope. early announcement though hehe

I prefer American sticks for ST… but I think I’m in the minority. Actually I have absolutely no idea… Last I checked the machine was perfect the way it is! (for me) If you want to borrow a second copy of ST I can bring my board in from cbus. Can’t bring the whole cab though… lol its real heavy!

I would love to see a Melty Blood Actress Again side tourny. My main is console only though… That being said I think C-bus can supply something like 4 copies of the game for ps2 if need be! If you plan on getting the real arcade version let me know and I’ll start practicing a real character (console characters are fake ).

Other side tournies I would like to see… Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire (that’s the first one not VS2), Krull score attack (even though I know I won’t win), and Initial D (probably should make this one stock cars only).

P.S. Almost forgot Samurai Kirby is an AL staple!!! Must have SK side tourny!

P.P.S. Also don’t worry I won’t be bringing a giant tv into your place ever again! I have a 12 inch flat screen that’s super easy to transport. Thanks for putting up with me last time!

Since it’s the first tourney, I was advised to gauge interest and then start adding more details later. Hence the early announcement.

P.S. I’m so psyched that people are using the avatar pack! And Radical Edward, I see that you’ve used the .psd file to make your own! Excellent!

Oh man, it’s out by May? I’m confident I might be less garbage by then. I’ll be there, hoping for a Jackie Chan side tourney, and possibly breathing room.

edit : According to Osi’s title, we’re going back in time to play the tournament.

Actually I don’t know anything about making images… lol I asked the guys here to do it and they came through like a dream!

Also, I double checked. This is not the weekend before finals for OSU kids (thank god).

American sticks for ST! (Actually american sticks for everything for me, LOL).

A lot can happen between now and then but for now I’m going to plan on coming. I’ll play SF4, HDR, and ST side tourney if there is one (maybe SFA3 if there is one as well, and I won’t use crappy Honda this time, LOL).

this is directly after my birthday osi… count me in for sure… are like the whole set of standings, sats, competitors, results, videos, ect. from the tournament gonna be uploaded to the powerup site… that would be awesome to see where i stnad in the midwest like a baseballcard… gotta go get me a powerup 2010 AV now…

edit: aw… osi you forgot to make a SF4 cammy AV for the set… now i gotta use Lee…

I’ll probably end up making one today, if no one else has made one. :x I was contimplating making a Jackie Chan one too.

Osirun I think I might have to come to this tournament.

It’d be good to meet u in person. And hanging out with the Ohio crew is always a treat. :lovin:

Please make darn sure there’s a thread on www.smashboards.com / www.allisbrawl.com THEN I CAN HYPE, HYPE, HYPERAID IT UP!!!

 No Ganon avatar.
