I am going to ECT2 this weekend for UMK3, and i hope to be in Cincy for this too.
@Tim: Can’t wait to see some awesome UMK3. I’m gonna try to get the cabinet matches streamed through a camcorder too. Just bought an extra long firewire extension cable, so hopefully it’ll do the job!
Also, I noticed that EVO’s rules for SSFIV include a freeze on the winning player’s Ultra pick. What I’m wondering is if people would like that to be a rule at PU2010? Let me know!

A freeze on ultra choice would not make sense since ultra’s are chosen for match up specific reasons.
Do you think it’s a freeze if the loser chooses not to change character?
I agree with the above sentiment, that rule just seems silly.
IMO that Evo rule is retarded – it’s your guys’ tournament, if think the rule is dumb don’t use it. I think taking a poll of the players coming is a good idea though
The reason a rule like “winner keeps char” exists is just because that’s what the arcade forced you to do, it’s not some fairness BS like this artificial SSFIV rule is.
Yeah, without a doubt. As Matthias said, the whole point of optional Ultras is to give an additional option to a character so that they’re not just doomed to a useless move. I mean this is nothing new; it worked fine in 3rd Strike, and there was even a third option.
Yo thanks Matt. CS was not prepared at ALL at mwc. I’m sure you’ll give it much more tender loving care. It’s unfortunate that I have no means to practice CS at this time though. Won’t be able to own people in CS till SB5 probably…

I had two people offer to bring CS setups to MWC and neither one did. Sorry it wasn’t ‘prepared’ for you guys, but if the community cant make the effort to bring the stuff needed to play, its on you guys. Next year it will be on console and wont be an issue.
I am pro-lock. The whole point of 2/3 matches is to let the loser counter the winner’s gameplan. The winner still has the advantage because if there is a final game, he will decide the matchup.
Switching ultras disturbes this flow because now the winner can change their gameplan after winning (sometimes dramatically like chun!) And the loser could have two unlucky character choices and never get a chance to counter.
I think winner should be allowed to switch ultra ala 3S. Thats just my 2 cents.

In 3s arcade mode, winner is allowed to switch super art, and that is the standard.
In SSF4 arcade mode, winner is allowed to switch ultra, and that should also be the standard.
The game makes the rule for you, I don’t see why it should be locked.
I agree that winner should be able to switch ultra.
So far it looks like winner will be able to switch Ultra.
