I do have the Rumble Fish arcade. I’m sure at some point during PU I can pop it in a cab and you can MM some unsuspecting souls.
I’m sure there’d be some hesitation on the 3 cab tourney unless it they were all related. I doubt that too many of the CvS2 and A3 players would want to play HnK. Am I wrong? I really don’t know the scene for HnK but it seems like it’s geared toward the GG/BB crowd. If it were 3 SF related games or any series of games, I’m sure everyone would be more excited about it.
right on… i got addicted to Rumble Fish at evo last year… and ever since i’ve been trying to hunt down an original copy or a ROM so i can play the crap out of it… do you have part 1 or 2?.. i haven’t got to play part 2 yet
oh and sinow i am totally adding you on XBL once i get my internet up and running again… simply because you are the only person i’ve seen on SRK with PSO roots like me… i miss PSO alot…

Thanks for sticking with PowerUp 2010. It really does help to know that there are dedicated players coming to the event! I’m hoping that what I have to present, along with AL and some other local players, is enough to rival MWC in terms of hype. Hopefully both events go extremely well!
Good stuff on getting the Indiana team rolling. Make sure you talk with Riot Guard too, I asked him at Naptown to help organize the team.
I’ll be looking into the multi-cab tourney idea more closely this week. I’m sure something can be figured out that would appeal to most players.
I tried my best to keep MWC’s date as far from yours as possible, and am still very much looking forward to coming out to your event as well. 
I appreciate it Keits! I’m still unsure if I can make MWC (due to money). Investing in a tournament is no small task when you want things to run well, as I’m sure you know : )
Yeah, just an update on team MI. We’re in the process of deciding our players through our ranbats. We should have our lineup ready in early April.
Yeah Osirun, I just paid out of pocket for a 2,600sq/ft ballroom for a whole weekend. I know what you mean.

Our events are far enough apart that there really isnt any reason that they both cant go extremely well, and show everyone the midwest wants to be a force in competitive SF. MWC isnt/wasnt trying to screw anyone or kick anyone in the nuts. The date was chosen with all other tournament dates considered, bearing in mind that most (99%) of tournaments dont have qualifiers every week before their event. PowerUp! happens to have those, and there really isnt anything we can do about it taking up so much time-real-estate. Fortunately, Osirun has shifted the dates so that qualifiers and MWC will still be possible for everyone.
Keits, you are a stand up gentleman! All midwest hype is amazing! Ah, and everyone remember, PowerUp online pre-reg will be available from MARCH 1st to MAY 24th on the PowerUp website. You’ve got loads of time to pre-register, so don’t feel stressed if you’re going to multiple events in the next couple months.
I’m not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but if registration gets to a certain number we will have to make it mandatory to register. As with any place, we have to abide by fire code laws. They allow some leeway but not too much. It will be posted up if it gets to that point and walk-in regs are are not allowed. We have a little more sq ft than the MWC ballroom so we should be good but I just wanted to make sure that was known far enough in advance.
well im def comin to this…i kinda have to seein as how im runnin tvc but will i still need to go on powerup and prereg is this good enough
and as for the multi cab tourny how about makin the 3rd one like kof98 or one of the vampire saviors or hell even project justice. its gonna be hard to come up with 3 cab related games so maybe games that are relatively the same would suffice.
I think Vampire Savior 2, Marvel or even Jojo’s would be better for this type of thing. We could still do HNK and UMK3 as their own thing. That wouldn’t conflict with it.

It’s the Jojo’s we have. I unlocked the boss characters on it. If you are worried about the cab, DON’T. It will be played in the new showcase cab for sure. The cab it’s in is total garbage right now.

Back on topic, the Semester is over before the event so I maybe able to make it out.
I had a question though do children under 5 get a discount or anything? My son is 3 1/2 and loves to play some fighting games. I mean he isn’t near Tourny level or anything but I thought it would be fun to bring him out for the experience.
Kids under 5 are normally free. The only problem I could forsee though is if a bunch of people want to bring their kids and we are at capacity. I’ll talk to Nathan about it and we’ll see what we come up with
