Portland Ranbats!

CMon you guys gimme a break here lol. I switched to FCP so am exploring new ways of editing. Add that on top of studying Japanese and school, as well as juggling photo shoots and schematics and I have just a lil bit of a full schedule lol.

Can I piggy back on capcom and say 09.29.2009? haha

lolz take your time, none of the ranbats we’ve run so far have been official or anything anyway, so it’s not a big deal. Now the official ranbats, they have to be up by the next day, good sir. >:P

LoL, just so you guys know, I do actually have to sleep at a normal time again because school has started meaning I can’t be up till 4 AM editing vids

No worries. I forgot that school started up since I’m graduated. After a while, all the months just kind of blend together.

Yeah…I miss the days of being able to stay up till 4 am haha

So bout them ranbats…

This week I’m planning to start a month of round robin, which will be our final format of testing. Everyone will have until the last Thursday in October to play their matches against everyone else. People who want to enter will have this Thursday (the 8th) and next Thursday (the 15th) to sign up and then I’m closing it down.

For this test run I would like everyone to play as many of their matches as possible at Versis, not only for consistency’s sake but to also make sure we get a good grasp of the matchload that will be required for the format. If schedules don’t work out for Versis a set may be played in person elsewhere/on XBL/etc.

Sets will be 3 out of 5, with 3 points awarded to the winner and 1 point to the loser. The loser’s point is insurance against match truancy to help ensure everyone plays as many of their matches as possible.

This format requires players to keep a degree of tabs on themselves, so if anytime during the month you’re not sure who you need to play against, feel free to get at me on here or at Versis and I will provide you with a list.

I am currently thinking the second Thursday of November will be the beginning of our ranbats. We’ll take the first week to discuss the round robin’s results and what everyone’s format opinions are.

Sweet stuff. Expect me to be helping out too. Hopefully my game will be A LOT different than last week.

Don’t expect huge differences from week to week. Think of it like working out. First you need to develop the habit, then you need to practice as much as you’re supposed to. Eventually, you get the visible results you’re after.

I have a noob question. What exactly does “ranbat” mean? I researched it on dictionary.reference.com but the site didn’t recognize that word.

Ranking Battle

Fuck I wish I could come out tonight. No dice for me this week or probably this entire month. That makes me a sad panda.

I wasn’t able to make it out this week either… maybe it doesn’t just make you a sad panda, but it makes for a sad R_Panda as well?

so what date does the ranbats actually start?

I am sad! Come out next time, we will have the ultimate Viper mirror of all times. We will see who is the greatest spy. >:O

Sean Connery as James Bond doing a Sean Connery impression vs. C. Viper vs. Kimpossible?

alix vang will learn how to use a stick when he gets a ps3  i want to play against everyone fairly

We should set up the “switch Alix to stick fund!” :stuck_out_tongue:

My bias is still shocked that there are dedicated 360 pad players… But that’s how it is and everyone picks their own poison.

Then again… 10 years ago a lot of North American fighting game players refused to play on Japanese style sticks

MAS Stick was like a savior to many for awhile.

Haha your too funny nick

This sounds like a good idea, but I think it would be a better idea to have a “Versis sticks” fund instead.

Versis will own these for the community to use. If these break down, we can find someone that can fix em and/or replace parts.

Thoughts?
