Police Shoots And Kills 12 Year Old Holding A Toy Gun

In terms of protocol, this situation is even dumber than what happened at Ferguson. The hilarious part is that are grown ass adults that the kid shouldn’t have been doing this or that, trying to justify the murder of a fucking child.

I forgot about these Cop shots teen holding Wii controller dead - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2563445/Georgia-teen-holding-Nintendo-Wii-controller-shot-police-thought-holding-gun.html

Cop tries to shoot dog shoots 10 year old kid instead

How do you define regular basis? I can’t even remember the last mass shooting by someone who wasn’t at least high school age.

VT?

look this wouldn’t have happened if the kid didn’t choose to be black, which is an option available to all people at birth

kind of like skyrim or oblivion

“Ass Crimson” Man your attempt at being funny is hilarious here’s a like o:)

But anyway is there a special place in hell for cops like these? Like seriously is shooting innocent civilian the new norm?

I bet there’s a hundred of news articles of people minding their own business getting two in the chest out of nowhere.

There’s only one way to fix this: have them hire more black cops, and only send the black cops when the suspect is black. Problem solved. Of course…the white cops will need something to do.

(I’m so glad that I already have no faith in humanity, otherwise this thread would have eroded it further.)

@Rhio2K, you’re implicitly making the mistakes that a) black cops would handle the issue better just because they’re black, which ignores the issue that they’re still cops, and b) that black cops or black people in general can’t also be racist as fuck against other black people. You know well that neither of those things is actually true, as much as a lot of people bring up “well, hiring from within the community would solve this problem”. It’s kind of difficult to motivate the people within the community who hate cops to, well, become what they hate, especially since there would still be trust issues about needing these people to have your back and trust them with your life when previously as civilian you couldn’t trust them with your life in the first place.

Not that there shouldn’t be some internal change, for the reasons that white shadow points out, but I don’t think community hiring would solve quite as much of as it as people like to pretend it would.

Assuming you mean Virginia Tech, I’m pretty sure that pherai meant he can’t remember the last time that there was a mass-shooting by someone who was younger than high school age (because there wasn’t…yet), not someone by who wasn’t specifically in high school. So older people of course would count.

Thing is, yeah, younger than high school age child have shot people, but it’s usually by (preventable) accident if they’re not being used as outright tools, which is rare but possible, and no one who hasn’t been in at least high school has gone on a mass-shooting yet. So what JasonWalraven was saying is unsurprisingly nonsensical and moot.

Not a cop.

Scenario A: Kid has gun

  1. Approach from a safe distance, possibly covert.
  2. Assess perpetrator, assess environment, assess potential threat.
  3. Isolate the scenario. In this case, in a public park, requesting for additional officers to restrict access to the park.
  4. Make Police presence known from a safe distance, with cover and ask for co-operation.
    5a. Accost disarmed, co-operative assailant.
5b. Engage with unco-operative, armed assailant.

Scenario B: Kid has BB Gun

    5b. There is no 5b

No?

To me, part of the problem here is that society in general is on edge. EVeryone’s afraid of everyone else and every time something like this happens, it only gets worse.

ever since the dawn of the millennium, society has been feed this fear mongering bullshit

You know it’s bad when even the South is getting like that. Stranger round 30 still walk up and talk to you like they known you forever, you know how that goes. If you’re in my generation? Act like they finna fucking jump the moment you look at em.

This makes me feel like siding with Eugenics, if only for a second. Just…the fuck. Why can’t you just have common sense? I have a younger brother. He was around twelve when I was graduating high school. If he had gotten shot, I’m not going to lie, I would be the next one on TV for murdering said police officer. And if my brother had survived, I’d wait till he recovered then kick him in the face for pulling some stupid shit like that. Fucking idiot.

Has it? Pardon me if I take that statement with a grain of salt. You’re in no position to make that call and with all the ridiculous and maudlin posts you’ve made in this thread, I think you need to calm down and take your meds.

People’s trigger fingers seem more itchy than ever. Dudes getting dropped for dumb shit like having music too loud. If you don’t notice it, you’re not paying attention.

9/11 has been a steady stream of fear mongering about outsiders, specifically funny brown people with towels on their head.
It’s meant in increase in government spending for police
an increase in the lobbying that police need better equipment to protect the border
There has been a sharp increase in the construction of new jails
IN california, one of the biggest arguments last year was the state taking control of private prisons that where over crowded. The headlines? Hardened Criminals being released back into society!!!
the early 2000’s was the beginning of the mass popularization of the internet
the early 2000’s was the beginning of the streamlining of internet
the early 2000’s was the beginning of massive information streams being streamed faster than ever before
the early 2000’s saw an increase in cable television and a subsequent rise in the popularity of 24/7 news channels

with an increased flow of information constantly coming in, there has been an increased in the fixation of “shock” stories being streamed all the time. the increased flow of information and the increased speed at which that information can flow has created a sort of false illusion that are worse of in society than we where back in the 70’s when these stories didn’t happen so often. Ignoring the fact that back then you where limited to massive stories at a national level or local news due to technological limitations. It also doesn’t help that the government has dumb shit like color codes that determine national safety, and constantly talking about how we must protect ourselves from terrorists.

Go watch the power of nightmares, which eloquently chronicles the rise of fear mongering as a valid political tool in the United
States, and how all the modern fear mongering stems from the neo-conservative idea that unity through a common enemy beneficial, and embraced thanks to the failures of liberalism in the 60’s and 70’s. The increased stream of information being fed to u has a direct correlation as to how we see and feel about the state of society. So it isn’t obvious that police buy into the whole negative portrayal of “blacks” in the city, because that’s all they always hear. HOw some black dude did some stupid shit.

I’m not even worried about that. It’s just that in that situation there won’t be such a shitstorm because it won’t be white cops gunning down black guys (which happens at about 3% of the annual rate of black guys gunning down other black guys…with no outcry, which really makes all this outrage seem just a wee bit hypocritical. Just saying.). It’ll just be “Move on, nothing new. Shame it happened.” Yeah, slight trolling. Couldn’t resist…but at the same time, there’s some truth in there. Earlier this year, black cop guns down unarmed white kid exiting a Salt Lake City convenience store because he didn’t lay down fast enough. No shitstorm, no riots and looting, just a few people walking around holding signs saying maybe the police were “too militarized”. I think the black cop thing could work.

(Oh, I see.)

In that case, I can see your point since I certainly agree that a decent amount of black people are almost akin to racial conspiracy theorists any time anything bad happens to black people where white people are involved. Even if it’s obviously not surprising to see where that come from, it’s not exactly productive, so I can unfortunately concur that “black-on-black cop crime” would somewhat lessen that even if it’s not actually a solution.

What.

I might agree that it’s become worse just do social media and smartphones “connecting” everyone so everyone can see how horrible everyone else actually is and always has been, but it’s like your completely glossing over all the fear-mongering that went during the Cold War, for starters.

I just…what.

I’m not, but the fear mongering has gotten worse. The fear back then was communism. Today it’s

terrorism, drugs, economic meltdown, china buying the US, ghetto thugs, rape, etc. there are more distraction meant to create fear than back then. I’m not glossing over the fear the US had of FOERIGN communism, but the overall volumetric stream of information we are feed today baout he the “issues” eclipses what we where exposed back in the 80’s about the cold war.

The fear shifted from communist annihilation, to social annihilation on so many fronts. And fear mongering is based on the fallacy of fear, the fear of war against the soviet union isn’t fear mongering when it was based on fact.

So, they pulled up on the kid because they thought they saw him with a gun?

so, their response to an ARMED assailant is to PULL UP RIGHT IN FUCKING FRONT OF HIM at rapid speed?

the fuck? there was no other way they could think to confront somebody they thought had a gun then to bullcharge him straight from the front?

are these cops retarded, or is their manual really shitty?

I had a very similar situation happen to me at 12 years old. Friend A(white) was going around the neighborhood shooting trash cans and holes through peoples siding with his rifle-like BB gun, and someone reported it to the police. Said friend shows up at Friend B(black) front yard. I ask to check out his BB gun, not knowing about any of the shit he was doing prior to coming to where the rest of us were hanging out. Just as I get the gun, two cop cars drive past the far end of the street we were on. Friend B tells me to drop the gun before they come back around because the shit looks real. I drop the gun at my feet, and certainly enough the two cars circle back around, fly down our street, and drive up on Friend B’s front lawn. I put my hands up before any doors open. Three cops get out with their guns drawn.

Cops: "Put the gun on the ground!"
Me: "It is on the ground!"
Cops: “Put the gun on the ground now, this is your last warning!”

This is all with the gun on the ground for at least 30 seconds before arrival. Of course I’m thinking they’re going to shoot me no matter what I do, sprinkle crack on me, and call it a day. Dude cop plants my face on the squad car, cuffs me, and asks me where is the ammunition. I tell him “it’s not my gun”. He says nothing and throws me in a squad car. 15 minutes later, female cop approaches the car and says to me “you know you were really close to being shot.” I’m asking myself how the shit did this even happen. Eventually Friend A, who mysteriously disappeared during this whole ordeal, shows back up and tells the cops that he did everything, and they let me go.

Most of my disdain for police comes more from personal experiences than anything societal, like being pulled over 3 times on one trip to work for absolutely nothing each time, and then getting written up at work for being late with no proof of being pulled over. Its a shame because I also know some cool ass cops, but even they say there are many people on the force who have no business having badges.

I look at that video and it doesn’t even seem like they took time to identify themselves as police, so grimey.
