So everyone here is either freaking out about Police and wondering why we still have them, shoving the glaring truth onto the screen of people who are oblivious and cannot adopt common sense, or are making fun of the situation/general trolling.
Glad to see the internet hasn’t changed.
Question though, as I see this as the ultimate factor: WHY in the WORLD did that kid deem it was necessary to reach for his FAKE gun when the cops rolled up? What was he thinking he was going to do with a fake gun, fake shoot them? Even if he thought he was going to show them it was fake, he should have just stuck up his hands and waited for them to figure out it was fake via discovering it themselves.
Also, to those who are hating on the cops, try this: That kid didn’t throw his hands up. He didn’t respond to the cops correctly. Why was that? Is there a chance it’s because of how he was raised to think of cops, or the environment he was in? So, maybe our disrespect and treatment of cops caused this, rather than the cops being completely at fault maybe we as a society should shoulder some responsibility.
Like I said before. No one would be jumping down the cops throats had they told the truth (a few would, but then when its a tragedy like this that should be expected). They fucking didn’t. WHAT fucked up sense does it make to lie when it was a genuine mistake (unless it wasn’t)? You know there are cameras everywhere. And they still lied. WHY? So they wouldn’t be held accountable. Point blank period.
I don’t understand how the concept of telling the truth is lost on ya’ll. When niggas lie to you, you lose respect for them and you start telling other people, “Yo, that nigga is a liar, dont talk to him/her”. It’s that simple, yet this concept is apparently too much for some of ya’ll. SMDH.
I know the entire story, but it didn’t hold water. When the police showed up he was leaning on the toy speaking on his cell phone. They shot him while he was doing nothing. They saw him do nothing. They went by what one person said.
“errrmagurrd, he didn’t put his hands up!, his fault he was killed, he was reaching!”
are you guys this dumb? its a twelve year old kid. How quick do you really think the situation processed in his head? how fast do you think everything happend? its a kid in a park with a toy gun pointing it at people going “bang bang!”, how quick do you think he realized that car that rolled up was a cop car? how quick do you think he realized they had guns pointed at him ready to shoot? how quick do you think he realized his life was in danger?
ill tell you how quick. Not quick enough, he died before any of those realizations. Can you think back when you were a child, in a comfortable environment like your neighborhood park, did you ever think, in seconds you could be shot dead by police officers? They shot him within 2 seconds of their arrival, you think he even got a chance to comprehend what was happening? or even had a chance to put his hands up? its a fucking kid, he could have been reaching for the toy gun because he got startled and sought after it as some form of protection, considering he probably plays call of duty and shit. Had the police officers proceeded with caution and attempted to diffuse the situation by shouting commands from a safe distance behind their car/car doors with their guns aimed at the “suspect” they would have realized it was a little boy with a fucking toy gun, they would have drove his ass home, and took him to his parents, gave him a stern talking to, and when the cops left, he would have cought a fucking beating and learned. Instead the 40 year old vet got paired up with a 1st day on the job rookie. The vet wanted to show off by driving like a maniac and rolling up on their “suspect” by surprise and the rookie didn’t want to look like a little bitch and jumped out the moving car all rambo style and shot first. They realize they killed a fucking kid. The look around and it dons on them their in a fucking park, the suspect was said to be playing on swings, the park was beside a youth center… and the rookie starts to shit his pants, then the vet wants to redeem himself by showing him the ropes on how to “sprinkle some crack on him” (like dave chappelle put it) by making up a bullshit story, even goes and calls the kid a 20 year old.
“don’t worry kid, just make a bs report, take the captain out for beers and your solid”
(And, again, this is what I meant by most people focusing on absolutes were both or all sides can never all at fault to some degree, in this instance the cops [way] more than others, but whatever. I’ve long accepted this is unfortunately the nature of humanity.)
I’m still interested as to where this kid’s parents–well, parent, let’s be real–are at given I’ve seen and heard neither hide nor hair of them despite the fact that this kid didn’t come into existence through spontaneous generation. (Or did he? [/conspiracy theorist])
I mean, to some degree, if it’s a single (grand)parent raising (or, well, having had raised) him, then I can at least understand why he would have been unsupervised during the time if said (grand)parent (read: [grand]mother) was at work. The other stuff like the toy gun and apparently not telling him to not give the police any pretext ever to shoot his black ass though? Not so much. Makes me wonder if he had some type of mental disability on top of that, as harsh as that is to wonder aloud. I mean it would hardly be the first time someone who was mentally ill got shot by the police in an event that could have been deescalated.
Regardless, it doesn’t change the fact that at the very least the cops fucked up numerous procedures big time on a number of levels and then tried to cover it up, even if their fear that it might be a real gun is understandable. Similarly, it doesn’t change the fact that 911 operator didn’t rely the “probably a fake” gun information, which is pretty damning on her part as well even if it might not have changed anything–I personally doubt it would have unfortunately.
It’s very sombering that we have to tread lightly around police…aren’t they there to make us feel safe not threatened…
It’s funny because statistically it’s safer today than it was in the 70’s and 80’s. And even in the 80’s, violence was usuallyexclusive to the “ghetto”.
At the very least, Ohio needs to stop being fucking stupid and change the law that allows TOY FUCKING GUNS TO LOOK LIKE NEAR EXACT REPLICAS TO THE REAL THING. Jesus fucking Christ who thought that shit was a good fucking idea.
What is “toy makers who care only about profits in a capitalist-driven society that rarely has accountability and often has scapegoating instead?”, Alex.
Unfortunately, I’m sure that Ohio isn’t the only state with such lax laws either.
not only did she not tell the officers that the gun was probably fake, she didn’t tell them it was a kid. The caller said it was a juvenile playing on the swings at the park by the youth center with a gun thats most likely fake, just pointing it at people and putting it in his weist band.
how does this bitch go from being told “juvenile with fake gun, playing on swings in the park by the youth center, black with camo hat and grey jacket” to “black male with camo hat and grey jacket with GUN”
idk about you, but the first set of info screams dumb kid, and the second set of info screams armed and dangerous. that bitch has blood on her hands too.
I knew of this story earlier, but initially I figured it was just a tragic accident due to a misunderstanding. It wasn’t until I saw this recent development that I actually became outraged.
The lack of accountability destroyed their credibility from the get-go. Once these cops showed such egregious deceit in order to cover their asses, no one should be defending them. PERIOD.
At this point they are just people with guns who just happen to be protected by a fraternity of the equally self-entitled.
“B-b-but there are good cops too!”
At this point I see it as more 2 main groups- complacent cops and bad cops. I’ve spoken to former cops who left the force and they all told me it’s customary to look the other way, or back their fellow cops up in case of any grievance; even if they themselves are not participating in anything illegal or amoral. There’s is a culture of permissiveness within every police department, that even the most diligent cop has to follow in order to maintain peace within the brotherhood. That’s where it all starts.
There is one thing that is for sure about all this: they did NOT give him time to respond to any commands before shooting him. Period.
I’ll buy the mistakes on the part of identifications of age and weapon and the movements of the kid. However the fact is they bum rushed him. They shot well before even taking any time to indentify the situation or provide a chance for surrender.
You can call my post dumb because you don’t consider the following such ignorance will hurt your assessment
The fact is that a young black kid died with the recent events of fergerson happening and other police incidents happening to blacks. such as one again in Cleveland where the police slammed a black girls head to the pavement, killing her on her front porch you will have activist usually black overgeneralize and people speaking in outrageous ways you have some saying to distrust police in general.
Yet you have environments where people can coexist easygoing with drug dealers and hooligans and psychopaths without bring such fervor against that
I will reiterate there was a shooting down by the lake where
4 people lost their lives… In a week where the boy died this is casually swept under by most to provide some crusade against cops.
It’s the same thing in saint Louis you have violence in those neighborhoods thats horrible shootings, assaults, robbery yet this happens and you riot.
You burn stores and protest what about speaking against what should be considered immoral or at the very least irregular.
I guess what I’m saying is that yes this was sad the cops lied and were incompetent and deserve to be reprimanded… but there were things that past weekend that were truly alarming and yet they were pushed aside
Drug dealers, hooligans, and psychopaths aren’t employed by the state to protect and serve the people. The police should be held to a MUCH higher standard than anyone else. They are provided much more rights and privileges than others. Many things that are a misdemeanor against a normal person is a felony vs a police officer. Some things that aren’t even illegal vs a normal person are illegal to do to a cop.
Up until the mid to late 80s simply RUNNING AWAY from a Cop gave them the right to shoot you in many states(Later deemed unconstitional, this law recently came up again in the Mike Brown case due to inept prosecution giving out dated laws to the grand jury among other stupid things). There was actually a case of a man being killed by an officer for spitting on the officer and then running away and it was LEGAL.
Police get more rights, and more privileges and are supposed to be bastions of the community and PROTECT AND SERVE. They should always be held to a much much higher standard than a normal person, especially higher than that of say a drug dealer.
Most people are taught at a young age to trust the police, nobody is taught at a young age to trust a psychopath. (Other than trusting politicians maybe)
How retarded are you? What other stuff is a cop supposed to do? The kid was threatening other people with what ANYONE would have thought is a gun. I guess your dumb ass dosn’t know that kids shoot up schools, playgrounds, ect on regular basis. Normal people are not this stupid at 12 yrs old. DO thing at a safe distance" how do you deal with a gunman at a safe distance? A gun is a ranged weapon retards. Talk a subject down, shoot them in the arm/leg/foot/hand ect you dipshits watch too much TV.
You apprehend someone with a gun and watch how quick you are dead. The kid reached for a weapon. Are the cops supposed to wait and see if its real, wait and see if the weapon is going to be fired? It takes less than a second to pull out a gun and kill someone. Cop says hands up and you do the opposite, it is time for the cop to shoot to kill
First off, the 911 caller said it was most likely a fucking toy gun. and the cops are even more fucking retarded when they thought rolling up like that to a child and scaring the shit out of him is a good idea. If POLICE, MILITARY fuck up in the line of duty, and these are “trained” people btw. How can any fucking rational human being justify and claim that the kid acted like an idiot, when payed professionals fuck up all the time.
We don’t know what exactly the cops said, and they could have said something that led the child to believe it’s in his best interest to put the fucking gun away, or pull it out to show them that it’s fake. He’s still a fucking child, and children can still be fucking innocent.
School shootings aren’t that common you fucking idiot, stop watching 24/7 news and read up on actual statistics you shit head. If you’re so worried about potential “School shooters” blacks aren’t an issue, it’s mostly whites and or white looking idiots doing all the school shooting. Who steal their inept parents rifles and handguns because said parent is fucking incapable of noticing their child is a fucking degenerate.
Where the fuck am I advocating dumb shit like this. What kind of normal person at the age of 12 should be expected to know how to respond and react in front of cops, that maybe that wasn’t the best course of action. Unless he’s a known delinquent, at age 12 nobody ever told me how to deal or react to cops. All I knew was that you should listen and do what they say quickly otherwise it’d get worse. How the fuck can any sane fucking person rationalize that a 12 year old should know how to exactly react to “police”. It doesn’t help that society glorifies police officers as hero’s and makes their job glamorous. the idea of dangerous, doesn’t really come up during job fairs for kids.
That’s some real police state shit there, but keep being part of the problem that glorifies the police state becasue, muh and their safety from thugs and robbers. When the facts are that over the past 10-15 years, you’re odds of dying on the line of duty is .0002%. You swear these are men in REAL UNIFORM, facing real threats with a real intent to fucking kill.
GTFO with that shit fox level news rationalization, it’s embarrassing.
