Pokemon X and Y: Aftermath (GEN 6 Discussion, Tier Talk, Breeding, Meganite)

You still gotta watch out for everyone’s favorite Pokemon, Tyranitar… Maybe it will get access to some Fairy attacks? I do agree that Focus Miss can now be an option rather than a requirement outside of that specific instance, though.

The fossil evos look awesome. Tyrantrum is a dream come true… I’ve always wanted a T-Rex Pokemon, and that fucker looks amazing.

Well of course I have to watch out for Tyranitar. But I never try to dig in with Reuniclus when T-Tar is still a legitimate threat.

I gotcha, Saitsu. I’m too used to debating with GameFAQS/Serebii/Smogon kids on PO and elsewhere, so I have to point out what should be obvious things to them.

Fighting types are gonna have an adjustment to go through now that they have a new weakness in Fairy. I’m sorry, Heracross, we’re gonna have to work a little bit harder now…

I have to rethink my Lucario sets too.

Man… we have to go back to the drawing board and rethink every team and matchup we’ve come across…except Flareon vs. everyone else. Free as always.

What’s really interesting to me is that a lot of offensive mons aren’t going to be able to have sweeping coverage in their movesets anymore…

Like you said with Lucario-- Take the Swords Dance variant-- Close Combat and SD are a given, but your last two slots will really require a lot of thought. Priority will be a choice between ExtremeSpeed for power and neutral coverage, or Bullet Punch for Fairy coverage at the loss of power. Last move is a toss up; if you go with ExSpeed, then do you want Poison Jab for Fairy or Ice Punch? Do you double up on priority attacks? What about Crunch for that Reuniclus that will wall you otherwise? Questions like that mean that team building and synergy are going to be more important than ever…

I love it. Now, GameFreak, about that Stealth Rock…

If Gamefreaks annouced Stealth Rock losing a ton of power or it no longer exist I’d do backflips. 1500 backflips if they made Flareon not suck.

Well actually, even though I know the Physical sets are better, especially now, I’m more of a fan of Special Sweeper Lucario.

Its good to now be unable to cover things with just one or two mons. That’s how its supposed to be. No more cookie cutter bs that smogon jacks off to. Makes for more variety and surprise teams.

I can remake my Hail team too.

And another question…who shall be the MegaEvo in your party? Since we can only have one.

Scizor, of course.

Gotta see the rest but right now i’m leaning towards none because none of my faves are annouced to have them yet. if I had to have one I guess Venasaur.

Scizor’s already the best, that would make his MegaEvo automatically the best as well.

I’m personally leaning towards MegaVenusaur or MegaMawile. MegaVenusaur has stupid potential with ThickFat in Rain making Fire practically useless and most Water types having no strong counter options against it with Ice damage being halved. Politoed & friends are basically free to it.
I’ve already gone over the beauty of MegaMawile, but I just know there are gonna be a lot of johnny-come-latelys that will spam the hell out of it, so I might hold off. MegaLucario right now is super scary–Adaptability and increased Attack means its gonna wreck a lot of things with just sheer power… Same thing with MegaBlaziken.

That’s a bonus. He’s my favorite Pokemon so, I’ll use him no matter what.

Wait, totally forgot Mawile got a Mega. Fuck Venasaur gotta go with my girl.

I called it awhile ago in this thread iirc, and yall were like “Nah never gonna happen”…

Sludge Wave Gengar will fucking dominate the metagame…

Damn it Lucario, why couldn’t your MegaEvo also buff Special Attack?

Goodbye Aura Sphere…

But it does have 115 base Sp. Attack and I haven’t seen them mention lowering it during the Mega Evolve, so you would still have Adaptability-boosted Aura Sphere.

…Hello again Aura Sphere.

All this talk of team builds and such makes me realize that I should really think of a proper team for once. All this time pretty much all I’ve done is build a team of favorites without any true consideration of synergy or team strategy outside of type match-ups. I think the last time I built a team around any kind of “strategy” was in PWT triple battles, which pretty much just consisted of Latios, Metagross and Latias, Latias setting up reflects and light screens, Latios setting up a sweep with Calm minds and Metagross attempting to wreck everything else with Earthquake while the other two were setting things up. And the rest of my team just consisted of other powerful Pokes that I had EV trained at the time to clean up the mess the first 3 made.

Time for me to do some much needed research…
