Honestly though, it grew on me much faster than I thought it would.
- Charizard
- Quilava, while Typhlosion is most certainly badass (and so is Feraligatr), Quilava was just too cute to me.
- A tie between Flygon and Breloom
- Lucario, and from this point on it has become my go-to pokemon for anything ever. Funnily enough, I HATED it so much at the beginning.
- Volcarona, even though I never actually trained one. Also, Serperior.

Haven’t chimed into the topic yet but… Gen 6. Hype. Still have 8 months before I decide if I want a 3DS or not, but it’s looking like that’ll happen one way or another.
1) Slowbro - This thing is so cool for being so dopey. Kinda like Psyduck (another favorite), but this one was much more useful in battle. Psychic was so OP back in the day, and this always my go-to exploiter. Honorable mention goes to Blastoise. Slooooooooooo…
2) Donphan / Miltank - Donphan has a way of getting into most of my teams, and just packs so much utility on top of pure strength. I also always liked Miltank more than Snorlax or Blissey for a number of reasons, most of which being how fast it is. If Body Slam procs paralysis you can pretty much bank on getting a first-turn Milk Drink on the next round. Gen 2 is my favorite of the bunch overall.
3) Flygon - Just think it’s cool.
4) Bronzong - The bell guy fits neatly into a lot of teams, from rain dance to stall.
5) Mandibuzz - Bulky buzzard I ended up using a lot in gen 5. Glad I got Black version. I like Reuniclus as well.

I’m not really feeling the starters… The fire one is the only half-decent starter, IMO. I really like the Y Legendary, though. It reminds me of Valafor from FFX. The X one looks like the forest spirit from Princess Mononoke.
The fire one is the only one that looks incredibly bland to me.
The water starter looks very interesting. I want to see the angle they take in it’s evolution, I expect a long beard.
People swoon over the fire starter but it’s honestly a pretty standard design. Grass is forgettable at the moment. Water has a bit of the Gen V design gimmick carried over with the glasses on the end of his nose, but I look forward to what they’ll do with him and if he indeed does evolve into a wise old man/frog.
I trust there won’t be any Wottergate drama like Gen V with the final evolutions, though. I need to go back through those old Smogon and Bulbagarden threads to find the gifs people were posting that attempted to disprove the legitimacy of the final evolution leaks. Denial was incredibly strong. Though I was disappointed with how Oshawott’s evolution suggested as if he were going to become a fierce samurai, but instead turned into a dopey-looking sea lion that eschewed the direction of the other two evolutions and only vaguely referenced samurai armor.
I like Froakie the best, fenniken is ok, chespin is meh.
Truth time, i HATE blastoise, i think it looks stupid. I think squirtle and wartortle look wonderful, then it evovles into blastise. Bowsers body with mechanical looking limbs venasaurs head and for some dumb-ass reason cannons coming out of its back.
Squirtle and wartourtle look like this water flying kinda thing, wartortle has wingly wings, then blastoise. Just…that pokemon dissapoints me so much

Anyway, Team Rocket needs to make a debut on consoles. It would be epic. How exactly could they make this epic, you ask?
-Team Rocket. It’s already epic at this point if it has them.
-Every Pokemon Generation, 1 through 6, and THEN a BRAND NEW generation just for consoles.
-Ludicrously huge map. Like, I mean ridiculous. Maybe even the ability to go back to some of the old regions.
-Keep the top-down viewpoint, but maybe get a graphics upgrade. Maybe akin to that of Battle Coliseum’s graphics.
-Underwater areas, like in Sapphire and Ruby. God, those are my favorite Pokemon games by far. Looking for the Regis underwater was fucking brilliant.
-Co-op functions. For the love of christ, this would be fucking awesome. Being able to seamlessly join someone elses game maybe to help you take down super tough pokemon, or having a huge “battle tower” per se where players can all converse, battle, trade, ect ect. Seriously, why hasn’t an MMO been made yet…? I’d gladly pay full retail.
It’s been so weird seeing all the love RSE gets nowadays. I was on multiple message boards back when those games released (god I’m freaking old), and I recall just… everyone OOOZING with hatred, especially when news got out that you couldn’t transfer your GSC pokes over.
Me, I loved everything about the 3rd gen, most of my favorites come from that gen, and it was just a very different region. Still my favorite despite enjoying all the new gens so far as well. Hoenn was special to me.

One problem I thought was evident with the Hoenn map was that I thought it was not innovative enough. G2 had taken a major leap forward with Ice Cavern, Dark Cave (which has multiple entrances), tons of appealing areas of exploration. Meteor Falls is a joke compared to how big Dark Cave was.

Since this thread has been revived, anyone got any guesses as to Sylveon’s(the new Eevee form) type? I’ve seen some outlandish theories idiots still clamoring for that unnecessary Light Type but my money’s on it being a Normal Type with some odd kind of held item/trade evolution requirement.
