Petition for arcade release of SSF4

Well, fuck if arcades are used for us to learn…i guess we will have to do that ourselfs huh? learn to play on our own?

No wonder the street fighter circa the 90’s is referred to as the golden era.

Either way there will be no arcade release before console release…so what will you guys do? Those who depend on the japanese to learn…personally I did not learn sf from watching vids, but by playing…

Not saying it would not be cool for an arcade release…but imo its not worth all this fanfare.

Who gives a shit if we learn from the Japanese or not?

It’s like how some people watch vids of Wong or Sanford if they want to get better at MvC2. Same shit.

In the end, it’s all about how to better ourselves as players, regardless of how people choose to learn to do so (ie - learning by watching match vids or strictly by trial and error, via playing).

And how does learning on your own equal the Golden Age of SF? It was the Golden Age because of its popularity, not because players were learning without the help of match vids and the Japanese.

Good for you but you do not equal everyone else. Your methods of learning aren’t going to work for everyone.

either way there will still be vids of good US players playing…so I dont what you guys are worrying about lol.

Also the Golden era thing was about basically pride…people dont have it now imo.

Signed.

No one is going to take Super Street Fighter 4 seriously if there is no arcade release. Just look at Soul Calibur 4, there’s hardly a scene for it.

8wayrun.com would like to have a talk with you. I think a lot of folks will still play the game and the scene will still be good. I think we will still get vids of Japanese players playing this and if not we can watch are top players here do the damn thing. I honestly watched a lot of A.I. ranking battles to learn about the game so it is possible to still get high quality vids. Bebop held it the hell down with Vega(claw) during those vids and Valle with Bison. Hopefully people in Japan and America will think out of the box on this one. Where there is a will there is a way.

Agreed with OP, Signed

That’s because it was released in a fighting game drought in 2008.Fighting games still have a good chance now thanks to SF4.Just look at the success of SF4,Tekken 6 and Blazblue. Yes they were all released on arcades, but they were also hugely succesful on console and the of the people that bought it on console I reckon only 5% were actually aware of the arcade release and the arcade culture of Japan.Yet they all still bought it.

The point is that, as of 2009, you do not need an arcade release to be successful. No matter what the niche of gamers on this website say.

However to the people who are saying that upgrading the existing machines costs thousands of dollars are wrong. From what I have read in the past Taito Viewlix Cabs all run the games off of Hard drives with room for upgrading the memory and spec etc. Both Seth Killian and Ryan “Fubarduck”(head of Arcade UFO) have both said that an upgrade would be easy and as simple as upgrading a computers Harddrive. Based on these facts, Capcom should just release an arcade upgrade for the owners of the existing hardware. It would be a nice community gesture, that wouldn’t rape Capcoms profits like the previous Arcade release supposedly did.

He’s got a point

Except I’ve had a guy who runs an arcade tell me that no matter how simple and easy it is to switch those hard drives(he did say it was easy), it doesn’t make it cheaper. You think those hard drives are cheap?

I got neg rep for my last post ahaha.
For being a weeaboo… So I updated my place…
May be people will understand that when i speak about arcade in japan i really mean it…
I go to arcade at least 4 times a week. I have a PS3 with the game, I turn it on may be 1 time a week just to practice some situations.

anyway my point is quiet simple. Arcade hype is what give motivation to many players in japan.
Arcade is much more than just a place where you play. I m not saying you make friend,(even more in japan) but you can enjoy watching and playing so manu diferents players and style. if you think online is the same, it just because you never went to an arcade place.

sf gold years are the same as arcade gold year… why do tyou think so? because every body was hype to make better in the next tournament or beat the guy next to him. It s all about communauty.

sur internet and online are a new kind of communauty, and may be i m starting to get old, but for me being in the same place as the one i m fighting with, with loud sound and comment about my game or mistake in my back, will be always better than being on my nie sofa with a cola glass…

you kill the arcade, and ssf4 will be all about online fight. it will be all about link not accurate and connections problems.in may be 10 years when lag will not be an issue at all, may be i will enjoy this way. But now for me online is just a way to “lose” my time. Nothing to compete.

saying that no arcade will not affect you because you never go tehre is like saying that F1 car race is not affecting because you never drie the car.

sur in a first look you don t suffer directly, but many ideas that come first to win a F1 race will be in your car in 10 years.

kill the arcade today is killing fighting communauty at the end.

Now reg me i m just a weeaboo that think AFTER living in JAPAN and playing TOP player very often that Arcade is the shit and that japan level is still in sf4 the best of the world now( and i played some famous name from amerca and europ).

People thinking that MVC2 show that usa don t need japan, just think one second about what could have be the fun of this game if the best japanese player were into it…

bigger the communauty is buigger the fun is, kill arcade and you will also kill a big part of the communauty, including some of the best players…

Why do people keep talking about videos and being weeaboo or not?

Isn’t the issue here not being able to play against random people in a public atmosphere? Getting used to the pressure of not playing in your bedroom? The hype of the arcade? etc.

That’s what I’ll miss if SSF4 doesn’t get an arcade release, I couldn’t give 2 shits about seeing match videos :coffee:

Yeah, I love that aspect.

I’m sure 8wayrun would like to have a talk with me too about my comment lol. I think Soul Calibur 4 would be more respected as a competition game if it had an arcade release, and I personally wished that Namco did do an arcade release just like they did with the previous Soul Calibur games. But look you are talking to a guy that is an arcade purist and is spoiled with having Planet Zero in his city so we get to enjoy the latest and greatest arcade titles coming out of Japan.

Invisibility por favor

That really isn’t the case. Although game can certainly be financially successful, its success as a competitive game is definitely hindered. Can anyone name a single game that’s had staying power in the competitive scene that never had an arcade release? The closest thing so far is HDR, and the jury is still out on that. The community has had a hard time getting momentum.

Aside from all that, the Asian Street Fighter scene really needs an arcade release. I’m not talking about just the Japanese scene either. Ever seen the boot up screen for SF4 arcade? It lists a lot more legal countries than Japan. A lot more places than Japan still have a thriving arcade scene. A lot of arcade operators in places other than Japan invested a lot in SF4 already.

Does Capcom expect fans to continue supporting their releases when they aren’t available in arcades? Does Capcom expect arcade operators to continue supporting their releases when Capcom doesn’t support the operators?

No arcade release is back for the players, bad for the operators, and bad for business.

hey guys have an idea.
how about an arcade version of this game.
oh and with NOT SHITTY CONTROLS and NOT LAGGY SCREEN.
just a thought.
fuck the current SF4 arcade setup.

are you playing on viewlux arcade set up?
I don t know what lag or shitty controls you are speaking about.

sf4 set up is on of the best i had the chance on playing on with tekken.
i feel much more lag and issue with controler at home doing some practice than at arcade.

I really feel like link are easiere in arcade that at home.

Ok bro i think you misunderstand
i dont give two fucks about

Location: Tokyo-Yokohama

And all about

People thinking that MVC2 show that usa don t need japan, just think one second about what could have be the fun of this game if the best japanese player were into it…

So why have an american release at all?
According to you we should not bother, and dont say this is out of context because in one hand you say the arcade release is right because japan could keep helping the scene

on the other hand you slap any respect we have out of our mouth then nut on us like your cheap ass prom date.

By saying “Oh MvC2 was ai ite but japan would have been better” and the jap players had a chance, and stood by it for a while, till the US players crushed them and kept running with the ball.

For the god damn record the GREATEST SF PLAYER IN HISTORY WAS AN AMERICAN.
Not a japanese player
Tomo Ohira

all I said is that if MVC2 was a hit in japan, it would have make the scene even wilder and may be the fun bigger…
The more people the more fun.

take out arcade release in japan and I can tell you that less people will play it for sur than if an arcade release appear.

Less people generally means less talent.

about your comment about greatest player in history, just to let you know. I DON T CARE.
i coule be from netherland it will be the same.
My point is that not having an arcade release will make the communauty smaller and less fun. some talented player will not continue this game and it will be a lose for every one at the end.

Now you can think whatever you want , you can see me just like a japanese fanboy or whatever, but I really think than NOW japan sf4 general level is far better than any other place.

kill the arcade and japan will become like usa. there is no blood or genetic factor. If japan is better now it s because of aracde communauty and experience.
