Petition for arcade release of SSF4

So has there been any updates or news regarding the arcade release recently?

No, nothing at all.

The latest “news” was some weeks ago when Ono said that capcom is reserving their final decision on the fate of the arcade release, to see how the sales of the console release go.

Basically what you can bet on so far is that the arcade release if it does come out will be after the console release. The wait for vanilla SFIV was a bit easier cuz we could watch match vids all day of what the Japanese figured out before the US release. This time we pretty much have nothing to do but sit and wait for fake pictures of Urien.

LOL I was like “how you gonna put Urien into SSF4 unless you add charge partitioning???” No one really answered that one.

WE NEED an arcade version, i wanna see the japs “really” master the console characters lol

If not to vote for your local community, vote for the poor guys in Japan who still have no idea how to fight against half the roster in the Console version, the poor guys here in Australia who have Arcade as their top choice because so few people play online over here.

Please, don’t be selfish, consider everyone’s needs.

Hell, even Capcom would be better off if they made an Arcade version, moneymoneymoney.

Considering how Capcom said they lost money on the SFIV machines, I think they would have to disagree with you. Capcom is a buisness, and they decided they did not want to lose money on this game as well.

From earlier interviews with Ono, it sounds as if he had to pull the president of Capcom’s arm to get him to make an SFIV, and now he really pulled on it to make a Super iteration.

I know you all want an arcade release whether that is how you play, whether you want the Japanese to discover combos for you, or whether you are just a Japanese fanboy, but it sounds like Capcom is just acting like a buisness to me. There probably will be an arcade release but it wont be until after Spring 2010.

As someone who suffers from what I like to call “Console Stick Retardation” I need an arcade release.

i want to see the japs say “oh shit, look at these badass console characters, lets make a lag free internet that runs street fighter as smoothly as offline so everyone in the world can be awesome!”

I’m pretty certain they didn’t lose money on every sale, like ps3s/XBOX 360s, I believe it was even mildly profitable, it just wasn’t profitable enough to cover the risk/amount of initial capital it required when they could have put that money into some Resident Evil game or something instead.

-E, oh, and while he pushed for SFIV, he didn’t need to for SSFIV. There’s an interview which points out that because of how successful SFIV was, a followup was almost inevitable.

Which makes the idea of not releasing an arcade version ludicrous, and the lot of you rubes for still acting like it’s stil a serious possibility. It’s not even like they need to dev for an entire new board, or even new tech since the X2 is already pretty much a PC.

Unless someone still thinks Capcom’s tightening up the graphics on level 2 with a controller.

How could making a SSFIV arcade version possibly not be profitable?

Its just a software update for a game that’s already out there… Wouldn’t that be extremely cheap to make, and be guaranteed at least some profit?

This is what I thought.

This is newest article I found on the arcade release, an interview with Ryan “fubarduck”

http://gamesplusblog.com/?p=2811

Some interesting and frankly grim points made.

Very interesting article.

I read the article but where he states that the good players will not play competitively if it is not in the arcades. I think he is wrong with that statement. I would love to see a arcade release but I don’t see SSF4 not being play at tournies and competitively by top players. Alex Valle already stated he is going to play this in a earlier post in the thread.

He was referring to the Japanese players.

Of course Top American players will play it. Arcades are dead in the US so it’s not like they have a choice anyways.

if they are gonna put out ssf4 for the arcades in the usa, they need to put some out in the southeast region so we can play too :china:

Perhaps Capcom will skip SSFIV for the arcade, let it simmer on the consoles for a while so that balance issues can be worked out, then release SSFIV Turbo for the arcades? And on the consoles as DLC?

One problem I see with all of this petitioning in the states and in places other than Japan/Asia is that the SFIV arcade cabinet owners don’t really have the legal right to say anything about this because there are legal issues to do with owning SFIV cabinets outside of Asia. As SFIV never had an official release it is essentially illegal to own a cabinet in the USA. So officially Capcom does not have to take any notice of this request, unless the SSFIV upgrade/cabinet is officially released in international territories.

To be honest I wouldn’t have any problems with this. Isn’t that what they did with Alpha/Zero 3 in Japan?

Is there a source for the details on this? I have never heard that before and I would like to try and confirm it via some official source (no offense intended of course).
