Petition for arcade release of SSF4

That’s kind of bullshit. It’s not illegal to import shit from another country. I think he meant more that SF4 cabs had to be imported from japan. Well… At this point all cabinets have to be. Not a single US manufacturer. The way you buy an SF4 cab is you buy it from Japan, expensive as fuck (to ship overseas.) Then it goes to california. Then from California you ship it to wherever.

Well I remember seeing it ages ago on Kotaku. I don’t think Capcom said it was a problem, they just said that technically they can take legal action against them. Also it said they would not get any returns/guarantees on their machines.Something like that.

doesnt sound like good news to me :frowning:

that’s hella whack… =/

Needles worrying imo. Maybe somebody can clear this up for me, but why wouldn’t capcom release the game for arcades?

maybe im mistaken but isn’t the japanese sf community, revolved around arcades, wouldn’t it basically ruin the market in that area? Maybe they’ll wait a few months for the arcade release, in hopes of pumping more money out of selling the game for consoles(don’t know what they make more money off of in japan), but it seems very unlikely that they wouldn’t release it.

Naw that doesn’t mean SHIT.

Remember when Ono said they “were not working on any new street fighter project” and then barely two months later SSF4 videos were released?

Capcom has to say things like that to avoid promising something they are not sure when/if they will deliver.

Its not a confirmation of no release, is no confirmation of a release.

Another way to put it: The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.

I remember Oh-Noes saying something along the lines of wait for the console release to come out, if the sales are good, an arcade version will be highly considered cause its not looking that good for an arcade version being made before console version.

LOL “Oh-Noes”

I’m stealing that one if you don’t mind.

If they do an arcade release, I want to see them stop this bullshit of “Americans don’t actually want an arcade release.” Arcades used to be why I go to the mall, it’s why I go to my local malls every few months, to check if they’ve got a new arcade.

I don’t care if they release the damned thing half a year after it’s console version, just release it. And in both America and Japan. And everywhere else.

More American places would want SSF4 if the cabinets didn’t cost a bajillion dollars.

SSF4 at 711 and the movie theaters. Make it a possibility!
:stuck_out_tongue:

If there’s no arcade release then I only got one thing to say: Say Hello to Super Street Calibur 4! I think Juri will be playing the role of Hilde. I could see T.Hawk being Rock. Oh well, at least there’s Continuum Shift (which is currently out in arcades near/very far from you).

Shouldn’t this be a petition to get someone to actully open some arcades in the US? Arcades aren’t dying here, they’re dead.

^I know. Colorado give us some love damnit.

Shit if my 711 had a SF4 arcade machine I’d put in an application there.

…and take as many breaks as possible.

edit: I’m sure this has been mentioned in whatever thread, but the idea of a ssf4 + arcade stick bundle pack would be genius. It would give those a chance to practice at home whenever they’re not at said arcade.

Pretty much.

Seriously. We didn’t get tired of going to arcades, we just suddenly didn’t have arcades anymore. At least not affordable ones. Now when one pops up it’s like a 20’x20’ room with ticket UFO games, a half working Tekken 5 machine, the mandatory uncalibrated lightgun game, and an atmosphere of self-conscious fear that comes with the fact that there’s so little reason to be there that you can’t look like anything other than a pedophile.

Also, this thread really does prove that most of you are severely retarded. I don’t know how anyone could make the point any clearer: the only way this isn’t getting an immediate arcade release is if Capcom is about to pull a Sega and implode as a company. Which actually might be possible, given the decisions that led to the CPS3 hardware.

I just want the arcade release so I could put it in my garage:)

Ok if it doesn’t come out for arcade release, here’s the question:

Would you guys still play arcade SF4 after Super Street Fighter 4 came out on console?

Instead of eight characters like you’re missing now in the arcade, all you’re missing is fourteen characters and an ultra for each character. But that’s it.

Obviously Capcom wont let their arcade fans down. It’ll definitely get to the arcades; even if it’s months from release. Even if Capcom isn’t discussing this issue now, when have they ever NOT release a SF game to the arcades?

theory:

Capcom didn’t have a lot of time to test the ~10 extra characters, new ultras for everyone and gameplay tweaks for old chars

so they plan to patch multiple times the console version if something Sagat-like broken or worse will come out in the “real world” testing

patching on consoles is easy, compared to arcades… and maybe they don’t want to release in arcades first (a version that most likely has hidden flaws requiring fixing for long lasting appeal)

what do you think?

I had figured they would be doing something along those lines. Producing the game for consoles, patching it up over the course of a couple months then opening up shop again to port it to Arcade with all these patches. Lets see if they actually do it though. This is all just wishful thinking at this point.

The problem is that it’s so hard to even tell within 2 months what exactly needs fixing with your game. I’d say knowing exactly what could be done to improve your game takes at least 8 months of extensive (read: arcade) playtesting. I think Capcom is better off doing a “console loketest” somehow over a couple stages, then just going with it in arcades.

Even after nearly a year of experience with the console exclusive characters, the potential is so untapped and we really don’t know what needs to be done to fix them, if anything is needed at all (some people THINK they know, but we really have no idea). After 2-3 months of only console play with even MORE characters, balance tweaks, ultras, etc… we’re not going to learn anything meaningful that a console loketest won’t catch.

I do think they absolutely need that loketest, though. Does anyone know exactly how many SF4 arcade loketests there were, and how long each of them took? Also, how long before the release of the game did they take place?
