they may release for console first, fix some bugs that could pop up and any gross balance issues in the first few months, then update the arcades with all the new updates. they’d never admit though because it’d just look bad.

But if that were the case itd be pretty smart of them.

The reverse would be smarter- as Capcom made more profits off the consoles then arcades. Use the arcades to betatest the console version.

Then again, if they released the arcade updates as a console patch, people would be satisfied.

They have some shitty arcade wannabes south of Seattle where you pay $5 an hour to play an Xbox console on a big screen. You go up to the register, say, here is $25, I want to play SFIV, and you get that 60’’ TV and SFIV to yourself for 5 hours. Now, say if you wanted it like a normal arcade, the usual line of gathering SFIV nerds, each and everyone one of them would need to pay $5 for an hour. I guess it would work but I personally hate those two places near me. Thank god they are going to go out of buisness very soon. :cybot:

5 dollars an hour is infinitely cheaper than your typical arcade setup for SF4.

Most owners and operates of LAN centers are more than happy to work with people from outside the company in setting up some sort of SF4 night or tournament on a weekly basis is you can provide enough people to make it worth their while.

Let me say something about LAN centers, I’ve been to one locally in Houston a while back and I played Tekken 5 on their 100" screen HD projector. Needless to say it was lag city. At least with video arcades, there are higher probabilities that you are guaranteed lag free gaming with fighting games. Also LAN centers aren’t guaranteed to stay in business either, as that very same one I went to went under as well. Unless LAN centers are willing to put in the proper equipment, i.e. installing commercial grade HD monitors to ensure lagless gaming then I don’t see paying 5 bucks an hour to a LAN place just to play a console game.

Also let’s be honest, the other reason why there needs to be an arcade version is because the Japanese write the standards when it comes to fighting game tournaments and combo strategies for everyone else to follow.

Dude, it doesnt work that way. They only let up to 4 people play on the Xbox at a time. So 4 guys will have SFIV for 12 hours. You are not allowed to switch players. It is not like an arcade and I am so happy they are going out of buisness soon.

StarCraft 2 had over 100k people signed (even a million perhaps) for bringing back LAN. Still ain’t happening.

There is a huge difference between starcraft and street fighter. Blizzard has The most played game ever created (world of warcraft) in which they have shown they don’t give a shit about the customer, because they have millions (literally, millions) more to spare.

Not to put down street fighter, I absolutely love sf2, 3s and SF4, but in terms of popularity and tournaments go, Street fighter is ages behind Blizzards powerhouse games (Starcraft, Warcraft 3, World of Warcraft arena).

100,000 Signatures on a game with a smaller following is going to be a lot more valuable than 100,000 out of 10million+.

edit: It was also stated earlier (few pages back?) That there was an alternative “Arcade style” of play. At a lan tournament for warcraft 3 a few months back I went to a place called “Howies GameShack” In Los Angeles (there’s more, go to there site) where I could pay 15-20$~ for an allday pass for computers, internet, xbox360 (all games) and xbox live. When I went and setup my street fighter 4 and started playing, within a few minutes i had a group of 6-7 decent players (and some bad ones) to play some sf4 with. Sure its not an arcade… but it isn’t all that bad.
