Petition for arcade release of SSF4

Marvel was an arcade game. Played in arcades. On arcade cabinets.

Starbucks coffee sucks.

:coffee:

arcade version needs to be done

i have faith it will happen

You missed the point I was countering by mentioning Marvel, clearly.

For the sake of USA vs Japan competition, I’m going to sign this too. I’d like to see an Arcade Version of SSFIV, but I’d probably never get a chance to play it in the arcades myself.

In America. If you didn’t notice the Arcade scene is very much alive in Japan.

Why Capcom wants to miss out on that beats me. I’m hoping this is all some shenanigan Capcom is trying to pull because like deci said SF is still a Japanese game.

The only reason I would like an arcade release for the game is because I would love to see Japanese experts videos on Youtube, I believe many of them only play in the arcades

because of sbo… in a nutshell. sbo is doomed to fail as are all things that get out dated.

all consoles need to be better than arcades are lagless/near lagless online play (japan already has this) and lobbies…

if sf4 has lobbies plus ggpo like online play and allows video chat while also being able to watch the best player in the room get his winstreak off, theres pretty much NOTHING that the arc has to offer that console couldnt deliver… BETTER.

its the future folks, adapt or die… i love arcades but i HATE waiting in line for my turn (this is accomplished by lobbies though) and i really cant stand having to drive over an hour to the nearest arc.

the only thing that the arc has to offer that consoles dont is the social aspect… but consoles such as xbox already have that covered with the xbox cam and video chat.

the technology might not be here right at this moment to take FULL advantage of these things… but mark my words… this is where we are heading.

not a bad thing imho.

[01:26] <AquaSharK> change the fucking disk drive on the Taito Type X2 cabinet and charge them as an upgrade… EVERYONE will update
[01:26] <AquaSharK> and it’s free money
[01:27] <AquaSharK> for little testing and developing on an very standardized platform
[01:27] <AquaSharK> this kills a lot of the hype

Capcom wants really hard to fail sometimes… ffs

You know Im pretty sure I saw Daigo walk over and play J- Wong in SF4 with a stick on PS3 at Evo.

Japan won’t sink into the ocean because of no arcade release.

“OMG I JUST FOUND OUT THERE IS NOT ARCADE RELEASE OF FINAL FANTASY XIII! JAPAN WILL DIE!!!”

qft.

it’s not about success, it’s about the fun & hype for ALL SF players, including arcade players.

How do you know it won’t be released for arcades? what is your source? I seriously doubt this considering the arcade scene is that of behemoth stature in Japan.

Next Year’s EVO: I can see it now. It’ll be like Dan vs Sanford all over again for any visiting Japanese players, the few that show up to play 3S or Tekken and decide to join the SSF4 tourney.

I really like being able to drop in on AI whenever I have free time in the area for some comp, would hate to lose that.

The arcade haters here are missing a huge point. Arcades are a social gathering… The Japanese players don’t just go to play, they go to meet and discuss strategies with their friends.

I spent a year in Japan and played in a weekly freeplay every thursday with a great group of people. Some of my best memories in Japan came from these all night sessions, or traveling to Taito Station Big Box in Takadanobaba to watch the Grand Masters play.

Street Fighter was not just a game but its own little community. I made friends at every arcade I frequented, played in weekly tournaments, and generally built up an interest in the game that I would never have had elsewhere.

No Arcade release = a big slap in the face to one of the most enjoyable communities I’ve ever considered myself a part of.

I know I’m not alone in this, and I hope that Capcom reconsiders this decision.

Arcades are pretty much maintained by the diehard (this is a good term - no slight) players in a particular area, in the U.S.

I don’t see why the U.S. and even Japan, eventually, cannot go the route of a non-lame version of D&B’s with console setups on big screens.

The only thing missing would be the quarter slot.

I don’t think there’s one definative reason. Stuff like Japanese houses being pretty small. Huge urban populace = less living space = less space for console + stick + games. And people coming over to play as well.

Also, many of the top players are working men. They leave the office, still in tie and suit, roll into the arcade, play until ridiculous times and smoke up a storm. Not quite the same to take the underground all the way home and then play online.

Also, it’s ridiculously cheap in most arcades in Japan. I remember the thread where there’s places where it’s basically arcade buffet, 500 yen on the door or whatever, all you can play. Sounds good to me.

But yeah, might be talking out of my ass, I’m no expert :china:

EDIT: nvm, been answered better than I have, this thread is way fast

Before you Petition something you got to remember, SF4 is not even a year old. When SSF4 comes out on console what are you going to play? SF4 or SSF4? SSF4 DUH! So Japan has got to keep something going for SF4 in Japan.

people will keep playing classic SF4 at the arcade and just go home and get online for SSF4 dumbshits.

I’ll sign, I love meeting friends who live about an equal distance from the arcade I visit. Not to mention that’s probably where my game evolves the quickest.

Except a lot of arcade players don’t even own the console.

I asked some.

Chome Tarou, the boxer from Sabin’s vids? nope.

Issei? nope

Itabashi Zangief? Nope

Dumbshit.
