Petition for arcade release of SSF4

MOTHERFUCKING TRUTH.

Holy crap I had been wanting to say that but held back.

You are goddamn right I am taking or “xcopying” every effective strategy that I can…AFAIK that is how you get better, by learning from the experiences of others and applying that knowledge to your own training.

All I care about is getting better. Not what country it came from, not what player first posted it on a video.

I hope I can get to the level where I could discover one of those important traps/strategies/combos/resets/mindgames and pass it on to the next player, as so many have been passed on to me.

But until that day happens, I’ll be learning from everyone else.

The whole thing just makes me laugh. I got a funny example too. My buddy down here, wasn’t very good with the Rufus v. Rufus matchup. So I said well, I like to do this and this and this is really good.

So, the next round he does the crossup into a big combo and I go “I taught this kid this” and we both had a laugh. Now, imagine if I had been like pissed off and said “YOU XCOPIED ME!!!” or some retarded shit lol. Like, come on.

Now, trying to teach someone through a video, talk, something you write on the internet. That is a far cry from teaching someone through a match itself. That’s the real learning. That’s why people with good scenes and lots of comp are good. But, not all of us have that luxory. So we gotta make with what we got. A big part of that is watching and learning, cause I can’t play that dude to learn it first hand. I ain’t in So Cal, I can’t afford a plane to Japan, my local scene is small.

I feel retarded for even having to explain something so simple and what seems like would be common understanding. Then again I guess to close minded people with big scenes they wouldn’t understand what it’s like. What they need to realize is that they are constantly X-copying and X-pasting with each and every match they play, when someone does something new.

Brought a tear to my eye my dude.

I love reading the RARE good posts on these boards.

Well written!

Imo, best post you’ve made in this thread.
:china:

So 280 signs on the other petition and 415 here! It is starting to look like something!
May I ask how you will make Capcom aware of this? Have you already notified them?
Keep signing people:)

Its not that x-copy is good/bad, its that wanting ssf4 to have an arcade release so that you can xcopy off of japanese or top american players is not a valid argument to justify having an arcade release. You can xcopy off of things discovered on console, recorded off of console and put up on youtube off of console. The xcopy justification just is not a good argument.

I agree with you and that’s not the reason why most people want an arcade release. Read my earlier posts. IIRC no one is trying to make to base an arcade release argument on that. I said it again and again, we don’t need an arcade release, but there are so many reasons why it’s a good thing and helpful for the community as a whole.

I said it again and again, that everyone contributes. Why would anyone want to lose any part of the global scene? No one wants to see one region get the cold shoulder. That’s just a big contribution you’d be losing. Same would go for if the game wasn’t being released in Europe or something like that. That would hurt too. Yeah, we could adapt, yeah, we don’t need them, but why have that attitude? That’s what this is all about.

Noones saying we need arcades. Just that it’s a blow to the community worldwide. That’s all.**

co-signed. even though i don’t really have a local arcade to go to.

Again, to those crying about how without the Japanese arcade scene we won’t see innovation or high level play, did we need them to hold our hands for mvc2?/

this, if it does ot get released in the arcades the world will still go round seriously.

Im not trying to shit on anyone’s arcade “scene” or whatever.

Keep in mind though, Marvel evolved at arcades, not at home on Dreamcast.

If anything Marvel should be used as an example for, not against, arcade releases.

Reasons 1 and 2 of the first post of this thread pretty much say they want an arcade realease so that they can xcopy strats off of top american and japanese players.

I agree with you. I would like an arcade release as well but the reasons for it have to be justified and exclusive to things you would get out of an arcade release that you would not get out of a console release. Not that many people in this thread are making arguments that meet that criteria.

The exaggeration of arcades relevance today is hilarious.

Japan’s SF scene is based in arcades.

Therefore, there needs to be an arcade release there.

If there isn’t, we will lose the biggest portion of the community.

I’m surprised at some people saying that Japan doesn’t need arcades when they could just play on console.

Why wouldn’t they need arcades there. It is the standard over there.

Arcades there are what consoles are here.

You put it in a much more kind and polite way compared to how i was gonna say it.

Marvel cant be used to prove that sf4 doesnt need arcades. all marvel says about US is that we can be better then the japanese at FG’s (which we should have already known) its not like they have the holy fighting game ghost or some shit. USA Marvel scene thrived in the arcades for years.

That is true, but no where do I ever state that those reasons are the main or most important, nor do I state that they should be the sole justification for an arcade release.

I was just trying to start the discussion by listing reasons that I personally see as motivating for an arcade release.

This thread is a discussion, I am just the dude who put up the first post. Lots of great reasons have been listed here, and I think you are focusing too much on the first post and not nearly enough on the better reasons that have been listed by more skilled players than myself.

It’s not that hard to be better than someone at a game they don’t play. I mean, it’d be like Japan bragging that they’re better at KoF or Vampire Savior than the US.

Ultimately, I advocate the release of an SSF4 arcade edition because I grew up with it and feel it is the best atmosphere for competitive SSF4, but it’s personally hard for me to justify when there isn’t an arcade near my area that is worth going to. The closest one I know is at a bowling alley and they dont have shit for games. I don’t think I would go there just to play one game only.

On the other hand, there are LAN centers here that have a good gaming community. With a bunch of PS3s and 360’s, I’d definitely go there for some SSF4 action.

Arcades are pretty much dead for the majority of America, but that doesn’t mean the last 1% of arcades should suffer. Bring that shit out, Ono!

Marvel is a good example of innovation in fighting games here in america, but still it alot of the top players did come from a pretty good arcade scene.

[edit] looks like parry all already covered that.

in any case whatever. capcom will do whatever they want. if they want to say fuck the arcardes i guess we’ll just have to make due with having small gatherings.

Im in a sideways manner trying adress the uderlying theme of “we need japan to be good at sf so lets beg for arcade.” just a minority in this thread though.

I dont get it arcades are so negligible…it is a waste of money for capcom…and the consumer.
