If this game is not released on arcade, I’m sure a lot of people, especially who’ve been in the scene for a while will be pretty fucking pissed. I know I’m gonna be…
while its sad to see no arcade release. it doesnt bother me. why does this matter to anyone not living in japan or a couple of hotspots in the us that are willing to import the hardware? i think its bs. these places always get a 6 month headstart. maybe nowits time to see what its like when evryone is on even playing field.
as far as if there is no arcade release, players on the level of daigo, mago etc, will not exist, is bs. or if we didnt have japanese videos to discover shit for us, is also bs. they discover shit first cuz they have fucking access to the game and we dont. thats why they get all the credit. we dont have players on the level of some jpn players cuz once again, they got a huge headstart. and does it matter? 99.8% of srk will never have the chance to play these guys anyway. Maybe at evo if they are lucky enough to get them in a bracket, and play 2 or 3 games. wow, 2 or 3 games a year. big whoop.
yes lets boycott a game over trivial shit that means nothing. /end sarcasm
if we get arcade, atleast in japan, cool. if we get it in america(never happening), thats cool too. but if it doesnt, big fucking whoop, it affects about 1% of the people that posts in this thread, and on srk.
I’m asking about officially licensing said hardware, much like how Naomi was basically a DC or the Tri-force board that was basically a Gamecube. It seems that one could save tons of money by using existing hardware that can be produced economically.
I’m all for leveling the playing field, and you have some great points, but we are still talking about cutting off an entire region, the strongest one in fact. While it won’t effect us directly, it hurts the scene as a whole.
I want to travel to Japan one day to play at their arcades, like many pros do now. I guess I should just learn Tekken.
Yeah, I am clueless why they never did this in the first place. Seems it would be cheaper and easier. You would get a “free” version for arcades. The way they have it set up now means they have to code for a different hardware (Taito X2).
Such a great point and keep in mind, the number one game in Japan is Tekken 6 and it’s running on a PS3 based board.
instead of releasing an Arcade version with missing console-only characters and never updating 'em…
I am willing to bet that an Arcade version will eventually come out like Zero 3 ^
Do any of ya’ll think that Ono is saying instead of getting SSF4 in arcade, it’ll be a different update of SF4 in arcade?
However I can see why capcom doesn’t want to release an arcade update. Even if the sold it new… at roughly $6k for the arcade game HDD, only about 6-10 cabs per arcade… 4-6 real arcades left in the US… it isn’t much money. However, SF4 on console at $60 x 1 million units shipped makes a lot more profit.
Well… here is to hoping that there will be SOME type of update for the arcade.
why it matters to anyone outside of japan or not in an area with an arcade is posted all over this thread. (yes i know it’s really long and i’m not surprised that people might not have seen those posts, but a very simple point i made is actually linked in the first post)
i’ll recap it here:
no arcade release will very likely lead to japanese scene for this game (or at least ssf4, maybe not vanilla sf4) to die or go into decline.
if the japanese scene for sf4 dies, capcom (a japanese company) will very likely stop developing new content for it.
so unless you don’t want to see new versions of sf4 or possibly even sf5, yes… this should matter to you.
and this is only one simple reason. there are many more.
the importance of the arcade release of a game extends far beyond just arcades, people need to look at the big picture and not just what’s directly in front of their noses.
oh and i agree that the whole japanese discover the best strats first thing is bs (their best honda players still don’t even use basic shit like cr.mk xx hhs)
i also do not believe anyone should boycott the game and i really don’t think anyone will.
either way, capcom is not that dumb. i’m sure they already know that an arcade release if financially better for this franchise in the long run no matter what ono said in that interview.
Again, there are other places in the world besides the US and Japan that play Street Fighter. There is still a thriving arcade scene all over East Asia.
I don’t live in Japan nor in an American hotspot, and it bothers the hell out of me. Why? The scene here is primarily arcade based.
