Petition for arcade release of SSF4

It was listed in a big ranking of the most popular web forums by a reputable site that does this kind of thing.

I confirmed this with a moderator when I posted it in a Premium Only thread.

Previous to the launch of SF4 it was about #600th…post SF4…it was in the high #300s.

I’ll try to find that post and give you the link…its gonna take a while though…cause I have no key for the post to search on (don’t remember my exact words).

What would be doubly awesome is if he said 360 only. The Japanese would have his head (… after cutting off his balls).

Practice in arcade, but I do enter console tournaments.

petitions are worthless.

there… will probably be an arcade version though.

Believe me I realize the chances of this changing anyone’s mind at capcom are very very small.

I figure that this thread, even if it doesn’t sway Capcom does a few things:

  1. Gives people a place to discuss this specific issue (apart from the multitude of other things like new characters and such).

  2. It may help provide a clear picture of the SRK specific audience and how many people care about the arcades.

Yeah, it’s so much better to play online …
Or to play with my friends ONLY (understand the difference with arcade or ?..)

Do you really enjoy staying at your home like an autistic person ?
Don’t you wanna see international competition ?

There isn’t an arcade release? What?

There has never been a Street Fighter without one. That would be awful.

It would mean no SBO, Japanese players would have to play the game at each others houses… No, they will not do that, they will just play something else (Tekken, Virtua Fighter, BlazBlue, etc.)

It just has to have a Japanese arcade release. Simple as that. Can’t believe they would let this happen.

Well, if SSF4 console sells badly, then Capcom will think there is no more interest in the series.

If that happens, they won’t make any more games, console OR arcade. That would be very bad.

Some games in the past have been released in the arcades after the console version (SC3 comes to mind). So it is still possible.

Ono said that there will be ONLY loke tests and NO arcade release in a recent official press conference.

Now…I fully believe that what Ono said might be completely wrong/misguided/hiding something…but if that IS the case…IMHO, that is truly horrible.

I see that point…I’m torn between believing what you said is true, and believing the alternative: If the SF community just happily accepts the death of the SF arcade scene…they have NO incentive to continue that tradition.

I will fully admit that I still really don’t know how I feel about buying the console release.

what was the site name?

Not buying this until the Wii version is out.

Randomly walking into an arcade was what sparked my interest in fighting games. The atmosphere, the competition, and the players there are what made me stay. It’s unfortunate that there aren’t more arcades around the US, but I’d hate to see this lead to the fall of those that do exist.

Blam.

This is dumb

Wow, no arcade release is stupid… Japan play is so godlike. It would be a shame if it didn’t exist for SSFIV. I’m sure that Ono made a mistake, there’s no way they;re not releasing it. Right?

I also want an arcade version. And I think they will release it.

But boycott isn’t an option. It’s stupid.

If the boycott succeds, it will only kill the franchise, instead making them to release it in arcades. If the console version wouldn’t profitable for them they wouldn’t even consider an arcade release.

Add me for an arcade version petition, but not for a boycott.

BTW, I’m pretty sure they are going to release it in arcade before.

Ono said there would be arcade loketesing for sure…but no official arcade release…but of course they may change that at any point in time.

The game is made, if it were financially sound for them to release it in arcades…they would. They’re not just going to refuse free money like that.

Maybe someone else will get the rights and port it. Maybe Sega or Namco or something…

Uh, you meet up with a bunch of other competitive players (like the ones you meet on SRK) and play somewhere else? Understand? You do not need an arcade to find good, offline competition now-a-days. I don’t know why you think you do.

I clearly indicated in my post that I don’t understand why people don’t play for “free with each other elsewhere.” FPS and RTS gamers have been doing it for years; why are fighting gamers behind? And as for international competition, I don’t understand why Japan isn’t doing this either. Which is why I asked.

Oh yeah, thanks for comparing me to an autistic homebody. I’m trying to gain an understanding of the arcade-guru’s mindset, and insults don’t help.

Hopefully the Japanese players raise a big ruckus about this…I’m sure Daigo, Mago, and the rest wouldn’t be happy if they put all that time into SFIV for nothing. Besides, why do loke tests but then not release it in the arcade? That makes no sense whatsoever.
