Petition for arcade release of SSF4

Assuming Capcom will rebalance via online DLC, since to me, that is the ONLY reason why I want an Arcade release. So assuming the DLC case, I’m still waiting for ONE reason why I care if the game comes out in the arcades.

So the Japanese may have to buy the PS3 and if needed go to a meeting place set up at a mall or someone’s house OR arcade owners could set up console spots at arcades.

So the Japanese may boycott and not play this game. Why should I care??

So it may not be at SBO: again, I spent an hour or two looking at SBO footage, then I didn’t care anymore, so why would I care.

So They may not be at Evo: I don’t go to Evo, I’m looked at Evo footage for the various fighting games that I play but 99% of the my days in a calender year is NOT spent watching Evo footage. Again, it isn’t like the game won’t be at Evo, we are just talking about a few japanese playing POSSIBLY boycotting it. That doesn’t affect me in the slightest.

Quite frankly for me it is this. Virtua Fighter 5 came out without online for PS3, then the 360 version had online and Sega didn’t do anything to add DLC or release the same version on the PS3. The VF5R came out in the arcade and is essentially Japan only. Its been over a year and No hope for a console release. Now I hear Version C of VF5R will be out soon and Still no signs of a Console release for us in the US. So, Which do I prefer more. Being Frustrated that I can’t play Virtua Fighter 5 with all the upgrades and rebalancing BUT Japananese players get to have fun OR Capcom releases SSFIV to console only, there is a possibility of DLC, new netcode and online features, 8-10 new characters, some initial rebalancing And I get to play it.

That is a VERY easy Answer for me.

Again, I would ONLY be mad, if the game ends up NOT being balanced at all, AND they refuse to issue rebalancing online.

As other people as said, if the shoe was on the other foot, Japan would not give a flying fuck about the US not getting an arcade release. Wait. Scratch that. Actually, the shoe has already been on the other foot. Neither Tekken 6 nor BR got an arcade release over here, and America has always had a great Tekken crowd and many of the world’s best Tekken players. I’d really like to see how many Japanese people were protesting about the lack of a prompt US release of hurting the Tekken global scene.

The “I don’t give a fuck about the rest of world” attitude is the exact mindset that Japan has had since the advent of competitive fighting game play, with more playing and less politicizing. And, oddly enough, they’re always really good. Am I the only person that sees this? Am I crazy?

Honestly, I think SSF4 will eventually get an arcade release (if a fucking unpopular shitpile like SC3 can get an arcade release, outside of a massive change in the Japanese economy, I don’t see how SSF4 can’t get a Japan-only arcade cab). But if they don’t, then that is unfortunate for them.

Without the hype of the arcade stuff going on in japan, SF4 wouldn’t be half as crazy as it is now. The arcade stuff helps generate publicity and get sales for a console version. Come on capcom.

Watching top players from Japan play inspires me to purchase a copy of Street Fighter and start playing hard, get involve in a local community gatherings and have offline sessions.

We all had fun, talking about the game, strategies and share experience with each other, all this cannot be achieve with online matches where, lag is involve, no face to face discussion and basically the feeling of juz hanging out together and have fun playing Street fighter.

The above scenario is pretty much the same thing u get in an arcade centre, so if there were no arcade release for SSF4. Whose gonna inspire ppl to join the community? Don’t Capcom realise that people that are inspired by the top quality plays in Japan are actually doing them a favour? indirect publicity?

I personally am not sure, but I’m leaning toward not buying it if there is no arcade support. Only time will tell on that part of it.

EDIT: I see people saying “why does this matter…there are so few arcades anyway”.

I’d like to comment on that, just something for you to consider:

1. Many of the advanced tactics are found or discovered early by Japanese arcade players. Since so many arcade matches in Japan get put to video, that knowledge flows directly to the rest of us. Kiss that goodbye if there is no arcade release.

2. While its true that there are few arcades in the US that are still open, or still populated with decent fighting games…the ones that DO exist are very very important to our community. Arcade Infinity, Denjin, and CTF are the source of a LOT of really good stuff that gets shared with the rest of us…even those of us who can’t get to those arcades regularly (or ever).

First I would like to say that I am not against an arcade version. However, I have issue with your justification for an arcade release. You are coming off very whiny. Your basically complaining cause you wont be able to xcopy strategies. You seem like you want to be spoonfed tactics and stategies.

You wont buy the game cause the japanese wont get to play it at arcades and sbo? Thats definitly gonna help the cause for more street fighter games in the future (sarcasm).

Not releasing this in arcades would probably be a deathblow in the long run. Also, nothing beats playing in arcades, period. I’ll sign a petition for sure.

Realistically, if the North American scene wants to survive, eventually, there are changes that will have to be endured in terms of how/where people play.

This petition should be amended to include an official American release (limited run or not) of SSF4 arcade. We missed out out on SF4 and those that imported payed an unhealthy amount of money to get it.
