Petition for arcade release of SSF4

Let me say that the Top 10 is very deceiving, especially if you don’t know the whole story.

The Top 10 in Arcadia is based on revenue income from participating arcades. The problem is that SF4 is retardedly expensive for arcade operators… they have to buy FOUR boards just to get the game to work. For small time shops that is not possible due to space and cost.

Games like Blazblue, Melty Blood and Gundam only require two and are much cheaper due to the hardware. Well, aside from Blazblue… MB and Gundam don’t run on the newer hardware so they’re cheaper to purchase.

So it’s a matter of the arcades not having it due to cost, therefore reporting lower incoming for the Top 10.

I oughta include that in my top 10 whenever I write them up lol.

For people who don’t understand why SSF4 should have an arcade release must have never went to an arcade in their lives, or forgot the significance. We need SSF4 in the arcade, I don’t care if Finland gets the machines for beta testing. There must ultimately be a final release of the board. SSF4 not coming to Japanese arcades is a bad sign that arcades are on the decline in the east. If arcades in Japan are truly on the decline I think that will hurt fighting games overall. Developers will find more reasons to create other genre’s other than fighting. Times like this I am happy we are getting ports of T6Br and BB:CS.

Pretty much what everyone else said…I support this petition.

and to add to what Reno said:

I know this is merely an observation, but most arcades seem to have more SFIV players compared to Tekken. For example, Seven Island in Yokohama, Hey! Arcade in Akiba, Club Sega in Shinjuku, Big Box, etc. etc. The SFIV cabs are usually packed, whereas the Tekken 6 cabs usually have about 4-6 people playing at the most.

fuuuuuck…

Man i guess people didn’t understand the whole hyperbolic-time chamber thing.

A arcade release is only going to hurt the fighting game community in general. So much for people having a reason to go to CF or any other arcade.

Japan always finds out the best things in fighting games before we do. So IMO humbag should really step down considering most the mixups combos strats and even setups come from some japanese players.

Honestly i think it’s pretty garbage that arcades aren’t getting a arcade release. I learned alot of stuff just watching people play at the arcade. Sucks now i wont be able to go to CF and get tips and legit strats from good players and even just the hype in the arcades is good enough reason to go.

I don’t have an xbox yet so I would love an early arcade release.

As other people as said, if the shoe was on the other foot, Japan would not give a flying fuck about the US not getting an arcade release. Wait. Scratch that. Actually, the shoe has already been on the other foot. Neither Tekken 6 nor BR got an arcade release over here, and America has always had a great Tekken crowd and many of the world’s best Tekken players. I’d really like to see how many Japanese people were protesting about the lack of a prompt US release of hurting the Tekken global scene.

The “I don’t give a fuck about the rest of world” attitude is the exact mindset that Japan has had since the advent of competitive fighting game play, with more playing and less politicizing. And, oddly enough, they’re always really good. Am I the only person that sees this? Am I crazy?

Honestly, I think SSF4 will eventually get an arcade release (if a fucking unpopular shitpile like SC3 can get an arcade release, outside of a massive change in the Japanese economy, I don’t see how SSF4 can’t get a Japan-only arcade cab). But if they don’t, then that is unfortunate for them.

agreed dude. Matchups in the console version will change. If the buff/nerf the same character as SFIV thenn the matchup change again. Ryu vs Sagat SFIV, Ryu vs Sagat SSFIV.

I understand the others optioning the other point of view . But I believe the Japanese should play this game competitively then sticking to an degrade of a degrade of SFIV.

I am shocked and at the same time very disappointed at Ono’s announcement that there will be no arcade for SSF4. I really hope he is just playing with us…I personally don’t go to arcades and play but I do enjoy watching high level players duking it out. With no arcades means high level players will just stick with SF4 thus creating a split in the user base.

So rarely you will be seeing videos of Daigo, Mago, Iyo etc playing SSF4…

I am still not understanding the reason for not making the game into the arcade…maybe they want the current SF4 cabinet to make more profit?..I guess the current SF4 scene at the arcade is still strong so there’s no need to replace them…the game is still only more than one year old.

Perhaps they’ll make SSF4 Turbo into the arcade… who knows…

Everyone does realize that Capcom makes little profit off arcade releases…since, like, the last 10 years, right?

So, you’re making a petition to convince Capcom to loose money.

I don’t think people want to purposely make themselves inferior to Japanese players. We need them so that we can compare our techniques. Without an opponent or some sort of rival, or anyone else for the matter, how can you truly judge your own skill or progress? Plus, the bigger the community, the better.

There is absolutely no reason for anyone to not be upset about the decision to not bring it over to arcades. My personal opinion is that it will be ported over in the end, but who knows when. Either way, how some of you are arguing that it’s not a big deal are obviously lacking perspective.

If you sit in your room and play Championship mode a few times a week, then obviously you’ll have no idea why this is an issue. As so many have already stated, and as seen on the first post, it’d create a giant rift in the entire Street Fighter scene, which would be devastating.

lose money :\

Didn’t they sell 2x cabinets at release for like $15k a piece? Not sure how that could possibly cost them more than $15k a piece to manufacture.

WTF???

you are not selling arcades at a loss like consoles…

I mean if you really wanted you could always produce the arcades against paid orders , that way you avoid any overstocking scenario

Its not like only 2 or 3 guys are going to order these things

yeah its not like mad profit but profit nonetheless

I’m with ya on this. I am glad that it is definitelt not going tobe in Japan for 6 months before we can touch it though.

Street Fighter 4 was not that big of a hit in japanese arcades

For a big budget game it was never that profitable for capcom. Even cheap dojin game like Melty Blood was more commercially viable. Just look at Arcadia magazine top 10 for this year http://www.versuscity.net/?s=arcadia+top+10 Compared to Tekken 6 SF4 flopped.

Oh for fuck’s sake, I just explained the Top 10 Arcadia numbers like 10 posts ago.

Why can’t fucking people READ.

Well I guess I just gotta open up my own store in the City hook up a bunch of 360/ps3 consoles all playing SSF4, and charge people by the hour to sit down and play. All because Capcom didn’t want to make a arcade cabinet for SSF4.

Yes we can finally beat the japs at evo…if they even show up! IMO this is a really really bad move on onos part.
