Petition for arcade release of SSF4

No? Does this ring a bell: ‘c.MK c.MK c.MK-Hado c.MK cMK c.MK-Hado c.MK c.MK c.MK et al […] DP-super/Ultra’…?

Yes. You guessed it! ‘The Man’, Daigo Umehara.

Speaking for myself here (naturally) but I don’t really need to be seated opposite this to be privy to it’s ‘intricacies’.
I think probably divesting myself of any semblance of gamer integrity or inclination to play a game for fun/entertainment would probably serve as a better ‘training regime’ to achieve such lowly heights! :coffee:

It’s relative. But beside the point.

What I’m saying is, the ‘better’ most players become the scrubbier their gameplay inclinations are as they abandon playing well for merely playing to win. Losing sight of the forest for the tree[s], if you will. This ‘play to win only’ ideology does not particularly apply in video gaming circles, save for the few occasions where something tangible is at stake.

The anonymity of the on-line era, if anything, has exacerbating this rodent-like behavior, now that gamers don’t have to face their opponents vis-a-vis. The scrubby cheese you see everywhere now and that is in turn lauded, irrespective of efficacy, would never have had the wantons to rear its lowly head in the arcades of yore.

go beat daigo ill wait here while you go do it

You know, maybe it’s possible Capcom is just going where the money is best.

That said, if it’s profitable for Capcom to release arcade units, I’m sure they will. Capcom is one of the most money-grubbing devs out there. This is the company that charged for hard difficulty.

The one concern I have with this route is balance. With SRK and the internet- I’m not worried about the game being dumbed down by no arcades- we’re not chumps here, we will discover shit eventually. Sugoi Magical Nipponland is not the only place people can discover stuff.

That said, I do hope Japan gets the arcade release- I just don’t believe it’s the end of the world if they don’t- and I’m not going to ragequit or act like I just got dominated by Heavy Weapons Guy over it.

I’ve yet to see an sf4 cabinet in the flesh, there is’nt a worthwhile arcade for at the very least 100 miles so it isn’t as if this will affect me. It would be a damn shame that the japanese community died out, since they are the reason I picked up this game in the firstplace! I know that daigo even refuses to play anybody who uses console characters, so I doubt he’d even pick up a copy of ssf4 if capcom did not release an arcade version.

So, for that reason I hope to god Capcom come to their senses! Destroying their Japanese community would in turn not only damage the rest of the street fighter community, but the rest of the capcom community too!

they need to have this release on arcades. in the end though i think Ono will make the right decision and have it release on arcades because without out arcades there is no street fighter.

Calipower rulez, that’s the spirit!!!

Somehow lost in all of this is the fact that SF4 is really not even that big of a deal in Japan.

SFIV has never cracked the top three in Arcadia’s rankings, even when it had just came out. The Tekken scene is about 3x larger.

I’m not saying that it’s on a KOFXII level of failure, but it is far from being the dominant game over there, compared to the states. They have more MELTY BLOOD players for christs sake.

This. Pretty much everything I would say on the matter.

All things being equal, why not??

It’s about the WAY people play, not whether they win or lose necessarily. People put too much emphasis on the destination and not the journey. Did Ali have the best boxing record?.. no. Yet is he not the arguably the most popular and watchable athlete in history?

I know I’d rather watch many others who are considered far lesser players than Diago. :coffee:

/signed.

End of file.

damn i didn’t know that. the fuck is melty blood  goes to youtube

edit holy shit melty blood like like a good game. i’m assuming its not here in the states.

Ono-san, you know better. Make this available for arcade.

Why do people keep responding to Sablicious?

SFIV may not have cracked top 3, but being on that list at all means a shitton of people were playing it. SSFIV isn’t going to even get a chance to be on the list at all unless something changes. Capcom’s gotta know better than this.

I’m sorry, but this thread is so sad, and it shows what a bunch of idiots most of the users on this board are.

Hello,

I’m new here but I 'd like to know where I can sign the petition?

I’m registered on others SF forums in Europe and I’d like to bring the more sign as possible.

Tkanks.

I agree with ParryAll! It seems like Ono actually listens, and if we voice our opinion, we have a better shot at making a difference than if we do nothing!

**If capcom don’t release SSFIV in the Arcades they will make the biggest mistake they could possible do !!!

Dont they understand that the biggest advertisement for the game is to see great tournament with the best players in the world

Dont they understand that most of the fighting players are waiting like crazy to see Japan progamers to play the new characters and the console characters???

OMG!!! THERE IS NO WAY THIS IS TRUE!!!

I’m in class, but I intend on doing everything possible.

Someone else is welcome to step up though. The more vocal support, petitions, and blogs the better.

You know, someone here mentioned Bar Fights. Fuck yeah, Bar Fights. Gootecks is one of those guys with an entreprenurial spirit, a guy doing amazing things for the scene on and off the stick. And you know what? There’s an army of business majors, an army of people with that spirit and drive, an army of Gootecks out there. You just need to find your voice. Look, I’m 25 years old, and I think most of us around here are entering our 20’s or 30’s, even 40’s. We are the future bar owners, we are the future and current bar patrons. If you are pationate about the scene as I am, you gotta empower your self. Don’t sit idle and just accept shit when we can make a difference.

You know I see a future where guys like us, our generation. We ain’t the generation that plays motherfuckin Golden Tee and Big Buck Hunter at bars. Those dinosaurs are on their way out. Bar Fights shows how hype an SF cabinet would be in a bar. That’s the kind of direction we need to be going in, that’s the kind of entreprenuership that will keep this hobby of mine and yours going into the future.

For those of you that don’t understand why I’m so pationate about arcades, perhaps you never been to one. Let me say this. In ten years when net code and internet connections are good enough to support lagless online play (will never happen, but lets pretend for sake of argument it’s possible). Even then, it still will never recreate the community and competition, that spirit that only an arcade scene has. It’s magical. Gatherings and tournaments… the whole point is to recreate that feeling. Online play, playing at home even if you are on a mic, it’s a far, far cry from being in a room with ten or twenty other guys.

Arcades are niche. But it doesn’t have to be that way. While my ideals are a little out there to some, if more people stepped up it could be a reality some day. That’s what I’m striving for. And even if that never comes to fruitition, it doesn’t mean we should just bow down and take it in the ass. This is a democracy, people. And we vote with our dollars and our voices. Capcom listens to the people that keep them in business, not the other way around.

That’s the real American spirit. Not sitting back and watching something you love die while hoping for the best. That is not American.

Whatever. If I sound pationate it’s because I am. I grew up in arcades and while I accept the reality that the scene is all but dead in the states, I will not sit idle by and watch the last true standhold of Arcade Street Fighter go down without a fight.

Petition and places to direct email will be coming shortly for those of us that still give a damn after I take my exams today. Peace.

Assuming Capcom will rebalance via online DLC, since to me, that is the ONLY reason why I want an Arcade release. So assuming the DLC case, I’m still waiting for ONE reason why I care if the game comes out in the arcades.

So the Japanese may have to buy the PS3 and if needed go to a meeting place set up at a mall or someone’s house OR arcade owners could set up console spots at arcades.

So the Japanese may boycott and not play this game. Why should I care??

So it may not be at SBO: again, I spent an hour or two looking at SBO footage, then I didn’t care anymore, so why would I care.

So They may not be at Evo: I don’t go to Evo, I’m looked at Evo footage for the various fighting games that I play but 99% of the my days in a calender year is NOT spent watching Evo footage. Again, it isn’t like the game won’t be at Evo, we are just talking about a few japanese playing POSSIBLY boycotting it. That doesn’t affect me in the slightest.

Quite frankly for me it is this. Virtua Fighter 5 came out without online for PS3, then the 360 version had online and Sega didn’t do anything to add DLC or release the same version on the PS3. The VF5R came out in the arcade and is essentially Japan only. Its been over a year and No hope for a console release. Now I hear Version C of VF5R will be out soon and Still no signs of a Console release for us in the US. So, Which do I prefer more. Being Frustrated that I can’t play Virtua Fighter 5 with all the upgrades and rebalancing BUT Japananese players get to have fun OR Capcom releases SSFIV to console only, there is a possibility of DLC, new netcode and online features, 8-10 new characters, some initial rebalancing And I get to play it.

That is a VERY easy Answer for me.

Again, I would ONLY be mad, if the game ends up NOT being balanced at all, AND they refuse to issue rebalancing online.
