Just want to point out that the more you play at an arcade the better you get. The better you get the less money you spend on the machine. The less money you spend on the machine the sooner you can get a console. The sooner you get a console the sooner you’re online destroying scrubs. The sooner you are online destroying scrubs the sooner your back in the arcade for better competition.
Wow you still care so much about that precious rep bar huh?
Apparently you still missed the idea of my post as well. Go figure.
Yeah and good luck trying to argue with a drunk. Cause im always drunk and will always win…bitch.
And who the fuck are you?
Are you really that mind fucked with your national identity?
If so that is more then a little sad.
Dont get me wrong i love america an i am a proud american but wow…
How many games are there that portray american’s poorly cough rufas cough?
Don’t yuke after drinking the 40 dirtbag.
I promote events for players in Empire Arcadia nigga.
The reason why I go to arcades in NYC because I can have advice offered to me by better players in Chinatown Fair such as Chris Hu, Justin, Kells, LI Joe and allow me to polish my game better. Who do you have in your area that you can play with that is well known in events?
If you look up “Arcade” in any decent dictionary the first example you’ll get will be “Street fighter 2”. This series was born in arcades and I guarantee you it will die with the arcades if their is no release.
Please Capcom do not let SSF4 become our Soul Caliber 4 or god forbid SSBB. All true fighting game fans/competitors know that no fighting game has ever been taken seriously without an arcade release.
How many times do Americans get portrayed as bad ass/cool? cough Ken Guile Viper cough?
First of all never call me nigga.
2nd you can promote all you want and good shit for that. But that dont make you a good player at all.
I play and talk with Floe who is better than all of them cept maybe Justin.
annnnd im done talking to you cause you dont really matter along with this whole forum which will go to shit like the old SF4 forum did anyway
Ken is ryu’s henchman, guile is an emo deserter and viper was a teen pregnancy bro.
Nigga is going to be tight now. Don’t cry.
I love how people hide behind their routers to talk shit when playing SFIV. Once you’re on the arcades, there’s no bullshit where the players can talk shit over a bunch of messages and no rage quitting for being a pansy.
Good night nigga. You lost.
Can someone with a good understanding of how arcade games are installed/added to a machine clear something up for me please?
Why would capcom be so reluctant to upgrade the current SF4 cabs? Can’t they just install/replace the chip or something?(again I don’t know exactly how arcade machines work so please enlighten me)
I mean it’s not like they need to change the layout of the cabs. The buttons and stick positions don’t need to be changed either. So everything externally should be fine. It it really that expensive to switch a few things on the inside?
alright i got to respond to this for the shear lunacy that you posted
ive been going to tournaments for years and have never had someone (similar to you) say something to me from online arguments EVER
you wanna talk to me? go to SB4 and we’ll talk about this.
im just saying im a real fucking person, i travel, I play the game
dont try and front me with your bullshit
edit: typical fake assed internet user
And the Asian characters get treated so well?
Akuma - Pissed off satanist.
Ryu - Lone wolf virgin.
Honda - Fat ass sumo.
Sagat - Has a tiger fetish and serious anger issues.
Sakura - Slutty fan girl.
I mean, I love all the characters, ALL OF THEM, but to think one group gets it worse than the others is silly. All of the characters are either stereotypes/cultral memes, or have some sort of strange emotional problem. It is what makes the characters in SF so much cooler than the ones in Tekken.
Alot of it is simply the lack of a universal platform, the same reasons theres no universal console and the constant I/O errors in os’s
No enforced standards.
All it boils down to is the cost outweighing the gain.
Alterations would need to be made for a port.
The part that really bothers me is this no arcade release comes on the heels of sfIV so they have a pretty good projection on sales numbers.
Meaning it really might not be worth the costs.
It’s just changing the boards or rom carts that is utilized by the System (Taito X2). Basically just changing out the hardware that runs the game.
New hardware update im sure would work since the arcade version is basically a computer with a SF4 harddrive, or so it seems.
Feel a bit sorry for the arcade owners that had to pay the price of a car for each SF4 cab. Now those wont even get played after SSF4 comes out.
Dont see how hard it would be to just upgrade and keep the scene alive. Would they really lose money if they did this? Its not like SF4 did bad in arcades… Im sure they turned a decent profit.
Do we really know this for sure? I mean, I know capcom did their homework with their sales figures, arcade play rates and what have you but does anyone really have any data on this?
This pisses me off to no end because Capcom, a company that prides itself in listening to it’s fans basically f***ed over their most dedicated and hardcore players while running away with a huge bag of money. Companies with be companies I guess.
There are some interesting things to note, and some interesting assumptions being made. One, it is interesting to note the locations of the people who are arguing for an arcade release (those lucky few in areas where there are arcades). The scene has survived even with most of the nation without access to arcades. (Didn’t the US only get like 20 SFIV machines? Nearly half of which were in one state?)
Also there is the thought that Capcom haphazardly made this decision. They decided a long while ago not to update the arcade to include the console only characters. They’ve made their stance on it clear a long time ago.
I look at it like this, SSFIV is a game made to target foreign audiences. In Japan the top players will continue to play SFIV and probably won’t care about SSFIV. (Look at ports of other arcade games that had extras in the console ports, did Japan care? Not the competitive scene at least).
Capcom is not against making money, and if anything, they would also be very aware that they have a stable of loyal fans (seeing as the hype for a new game got to such epic proportions) that they would also very much consider before making any decisions the impact having a console only release would make.
And they did it anyway. I’m not saying they’re infallible, I’m saying it wasn’t an effort to “insult the community” no one is out to piss off customers.
Sega didn’t release VF5 to consoles after releasing nearly every iteration prior to that, why is that? They didn’t see the money in it. They know there is a dedicated VF fanbase out there (much smaller than the SF base, but it’s there) but they’re not in the business of doing things simply to be nice.
Not to mention who is to say that this is the route Capcom takes in perpetuity? Isn’t this the first time a game has gone this route? Perhaps Capcom is testing the waters too? Aren’t they allowed to do that?
It’s never been about fuck japan, oh poor japanese won’t be able to play. They will be able to play, as much as we would be, and they won’t because their scene is different. They still play in arcades, and as Ono mentioned in many places it wouldn’t matter if there was an arcade release or not.
This is where you are wrong. We all have a voice here, we can make a difference.
What I’ve read so far shows me that most people here, the vast majority here still support an arcade release. However, many are apathetic as far as thinking there is nothing we can do. Others put a positive spin on it and I can understand that. But we don’t have to accept this. We can influence the decision if enough of us make our voices heard. Ono is very good when it comes to listening to the community.
I’m going to get an email address we can hit up or a real petition we can sign. Don’t think that your voice doesn’t matter.
My posts are not about dickriding the Japanese. You are reading too much into my first sentence. I was simply making a point to get everyone’s attention.
My point is not that we need Japan, my point is that Japan is a huge part of the global scene. SBO, Arcadia… just read my post again, please, I’m not going to repeat myself. Again not caring about a huge part of our global scene shows off your elitist American I don’t give a fuck about the rest of the world attitude.
Some of you seem to still think that Japan will just adapt. This is not the case. Don’t believe me, then read this post:
Again, this is about supporting the global scene. I think everyone here can agree that this sucks for Japan, Korea, Canada, and parts of the US that still have arcade scenes.
