I’ve been playing the SF series since I was eight years old both on arcade and console. Playing on console is fun, but there’s just something about playing at an arcade with your local community that you just can’t explain to some players of this generation since they either weren’t born during or missed out on the glory days of arcade gaming. You can try and explain the feeling to them, but they just won’t understand until they go to an arcade on a regular basis like we all have for so many years.
Even with all the online features of current fighting games like SF4, HDR, SC4, BB, etc. trying to recapture the social aspect of the arcade community, it will always come up just short of that goal. I mean, your game can only improve so much from playing online as opposed to playing with other BETTER people who are regulars at your local arcade. You can easily talk to them and ask them questions to help man up your game if you’re up against a wall. You can get help online, too but it just feels so robotic and slow you know.
There are benefits to playing online against a vast majority of players from all over the wolrd, but there are quite a few factors that detoriate my game from playing online. I love both console and aracade, but when it comes to fighting games, I go with the latter.
I will still buy SSF4 upon release, but I will sign this petition because it would be a shame if this didn’t get an arcade release. It would be a huge kick in the balls to the arcade community, especially here in NorCal. I refuse to believe what Ono said since he has contradicted what he said about the series in the past and I believe he is a genuine person who listens to the fans.
about arcade hardware…a lot of systems were pretty much the same as home console hardware. NAOMI, Triforce, Sega Chihiro, Sega Lindbergh, Sega ST-V, Namco System 11, etc etc.
all the current hardware is based off of pc hardware.
i dont think the user really cares what is going on under the hood as long as the same experience is there.
This is irrelevant in the age of the Internet where you can espy the most advanced techniques at the left-click of a mouse. To truly become ‘good’, what’s required is the ability to read you opponent. Combos, execution, strategies et cetera are merely the ‘basics’. Basics that can be honed without ever playing tangible person.
At any rate, the higher up the supposed SF hierarchical skill tree you progress, the more gameplay exploitative and generally scrubby the players become. Hardly something one should really want to aspire to… unless winning was a life and death situations. A scenario, I’d wager, a fight-game’s outcome rarely (if ever) hinges upon.
I’m from Norway, and will probably never play SF4 or SFF4 on an arcade machine, since they are none existing here. But my hype for SSF4 went down with 60% when I found out there will be no arcade release!
Why? Because it would not feel like a real game, when I know that the people who could be best in it (No offense America) won’t be playing it… And I know that japanese people will also have the opportunity to play SSF4 on a console, but let’s face it… It won’t be taken as seriously, since most of the pro gamers in Japan plays strictly in arcades.
I don’t really care about learning tricks from Japan… Sure it will take more time to find the game’s secrets, but that would be fun if you ask me… But to take away the competition between America and Japan would take away so much hype! And it will exclude some of the best players in the world from the game.
I am not sure what I feel about buying the game, if there is not going to be an arcade release… It just takes so much away from what is interesting about street fighter.
All i can tell is that shitty fuck typical scrub americans are all BooHOO OMG the JAps arnt getting a fucking Arcade copy so OMG I CANT XCOPY their strats and STILL end up FUCKING SUCKING AT THE GAME.
Wow. Honestly, who gives a flying fuck. If Japan is too lazy to buy into a console version (like i said earlier) WHO GIVES a fuck. BAD SHIT to them then. Us who are serious into learning the fucking game will learn the new edition and become better players.
Also fuck all you coplaing about EW NEW COPY SO SOON. GTFO and go fuck your grandmother.
What if we can’t afford a console. Hell for sure, I don’t even own the game or any consoles anymore(or in a different scenario where internet services is not provided),but that’s not going to stop me from going to the arcades or playing what I love.
Ooo. Strong words from a person that can’t even type correctly on the Rep bar. Anyways reading things out of context won’t allow you to see the big picture. You close minded dimwit.
