Petition for arcade release of SSF4

Either Japan and the Asian countries are going to man up and buy consoles or they won’t. Are they going to make arcade stand lookalikes with 360s with ssf4? Will the boycott the game entirely resulting in SSF4 not making it to SBO? Will top Japanese players still play the game?

God’s Garden was played on consoles I believe so perhaps it will spawn places like that. Or like every other person in Japan has said they’ll ignore SSF4 and play the original.

In any case it would be a big disappointment to many if there were no more LordAborigine uploads.

You don’t need Az or HNana or I to tell you guys what their reaction is.

Their fucking SILENCE should be proof enough that no arcade = they do not fucking care.

You guys keep fucking generalizing that they’re going to boycott the game, or do console gatherings.

  1. NO ONE WILL BOYCOTT THE GAME. They will probably buy the console version, but the level of skill will DROP LIKE A FUCKING ROCK. Like I said earlier, Mago has a 360, so does Itazan, so do many other players, but they do not play on it because they know arcade > console for powering up. If you take away arcades, they will continue to play, but they will not care as much, nor will they probably travel to the US for Evo. Therefore, overall skill in Japan will drop. Will this affect the US/Europe/Korea/Pakistan? Who knows, but I’m only talking about Japan here.

  2. Daigo and KSK are on the Tokyo Game Night/Gods Garden staff. The problem is that there are a LOT of other games that also have representation, from DOA to SC4 to Counterstrike and whatnot. They CANNOT run SF4 every single time. This is the problem with console gatherings… YOU HAVE TO FUCKING SCHEDULE A TIME AND DATE. This is the advantage of an arcade… you just go there and people show up whenever they want to, and leave whenever they want to!

I want an arcade release.
But I’m still buying the game to support Yoshinori so he can show Capcom
that there is still money to make via DLC.

Maybe everyone on SRK should buy all the downloadable content for the game as a statement that we really support the franchise.

Thanks, this is what we needed.

Are petitions un-Japanese, or are they seriously complacent enough that if SSF4 doesn’t get released, they will just switch to another game, or just only bother with vanilla SF4, and not even bother asking Capcom for an arcade patch?

First things first, go to the nw section on here.

Secondly, check the “Rally Point: Gameworks” thread to see when ppl are heading out to play. If you can make it out tomorrow night people should be showing up (I plan on being there around 10 or so).

To get back on topic, it’s sad that there isn’t an arcade release in the works, but it seems to be the way things work nowadays. I know if I was an arcade owner that dropped a bit of cash for 4-5 setups of sfiv, I wouldn’t be to happy to have to drop more money on an upgrade when the game’s been out for about a year and a half. Plus keep in mind that “arcade release” wouldn’t mean " US arcade release". Tbh it’s a battle that can’t be won. Look @ Seattle back when EVO announced console only back in 2k4. A lot of us were up in arms about the idea (some even refusing to go to that years evo). We assumed that arcades would bounce back and evo would be back to arcades in a year or two…5 years later it’s still on console and we had no choice but to give in to it too. Be hyped that there’s another version and that capcom is looking our way once again, even if it isn’t an arcade release.

Okay.

This is a very valid point.

But things change.

Eventually, even the most resistant must either accept it or move on.

I really can’t see all of Japan simply moving on.

Give it time.

Trust me when I say, Japan isn’t going to have meets in their miniscule apartments like we have in the US.

The arcade is almost a must.

Must “arcade” necessitate $$$ coin-op cabinets though?

Can there not be something alone the line of a non-suckage Dave & Busters where players can meet up and play consoles rigged onto big screens and whatnot?

Thought I would post this because I remember reading it awhile ago and I think it’s pretty relevant to the discussion. It’s Daigo on the potential of HDR in Japan:

http://www.sirlin.net/blog/2009/7/24/daigo-on-sf-hd-remix.html

The key line is:
“In Japan, a console version isn’t that important to the competitive scene, while an arcade version is necessary. Not true in the US anymore, but very true in Japan.”

Can’t be any clearer than that imo. I’m not saying it’s definitive, but take it for what it’s worth.

No, but they would have to derive a pay to play system even still.

fuck boycott talk, this is SF4.

blah blah blah

SF4

Maybe japanese people should get off there ass and buy the console version for once

fuck the jap nut huggery and go capcom for realizing the future is consoles.

fuck all you haters who disagree it is the TRUTH

Why would someone not buy a console release just because it’s not coming out in arcades? That’s pretty stupid.

sigh Have you read this thread, like at all?

I don’t think so.

Yes.

And this would be more finacially feasible than cycling coin-ops, wouldn’t it?

Once the setups are in place, then it’s just a matter of switching out games.

The arcades save money, and the games developed are produced in a format that allows for them to be cost effective for the devs.

Seems win-win to me.

EDIT:

Drink the Humbag juice.

See the truth of SSF4. :china:

He’s blunt and crass, but he’s not wholesale wrong by half. :stuck_out_tongue:

In an urban area, many people want to gather around such as Chinatown fair from all around NYC to see whoever is the best damn player in that region. However playing random people online and on consoles will not allow players to meet new people and will leave untapped potential to wither away with undiscovered skills without progression in skills.
Sign me up for arcades.

But the object is to not play random people on console, but rather for the good/great to congregate around it.

Fuck online, as has been asserted ad nauseum.

I don’t need to. So Japan gets screwed for once, woe is them.

Signed.

Everyone is allways complaining that the arcade scene is dying and asking what can we do to bring it back…

Well SSFIV not coming to arcades sure is hell isnt gonna help ressurect the arcade scene of that i’m sure, for all we know it may be the last nail on the coffin.

So if we have any hope of bringing some sort of arcade scene spirit back on a global scale, this game must make it to the arcades.

I dont even have any way to play SFIV ,or any recent game for that matter, on an arcade but i hope for the day when arcades become a great thing again.

I urge anyone and everyone that loves competition and that feeling of comunity that only can be felt on an arcade to sign this up also.

Cheers all

Well obviously you do not understand the housing system in Japan. There’s no space to be productive in their homes and the space is worse than Manhattan apartments. You try living there and see how you can manage playing online in a cramped house.

Nice to see you back!
Online does suck, most of it is guessing games.

I hope for a new Renaissance too.

But I prepare for another season of reality T.V. culture.
