Petition for arcade release of SSF4

Wherein what I said did I say that Japan was irrelevant?

Seriously - get a grip.

I said that arcades are not in and of themselves neccessary for there to be a scene anywhere - including in Japan.

IRL gatherings would serve just as well.

Yeah, why is that so hard to comprehend?

If arcades die, well, join in with the rest of us on console.

Shit, that sounds like an act of hell to many of you.

Petition signed. If Japan doesn’t contribute to this game in playtime, this game becomes Marvel, and 4 dies.

The best thing to do is to ask the japanese players what they think about SSF4 not getting a arcade release. If they dont give a damn about it not getting one, I dont see why we (outside of Asia) would… Seriously, I think SSF4 is just something to make the north american players happy since all we did was complain about T.Hawk, DeeJay and nerfing Sagat…
So basically, theres a chance that SF4 continues to be played around the world compared to SSF4 which will flop after a couple of months imo…

i personally think it is a bad thing, its really making the Fighting Game community more shutin like and we will end up making clans like the FPS clans with their [xx] <name> shits lame man

Really…

I did check my facts and most of the time I go, people are horrible, yes, sometimes a guy or two will show up and now how to play well, but most of the time it is an all you can fight Ryu buffet.

What The Fuck?

sorry for coming 15 or so pages late but where you guys are you getting this info?

where has it been confirmed that there is going to be no arcade release?

I swear to god I’ve heard Ono saying this was coming out to arcades first WTF!!!

But yeah lol Im boycotting this shit as well, Im pretty happy playing my flowchart online, I dont think the fun will just stop just because there is a new version so fuck it

one of my main time-wasters at night is watching sf4 tournament vids. I am pretty hooked to the tournament scene and I watch it closely

Like many others have said this thread makes me sad for a couple of reasons. If you honest to God loved this shit you’d understand why the Japanese arcade scene needs to be keep alive as long as possible. I’m talkin’ Terri Schiavo that bitch! If you honest to God want fighting games actually worth playing you’d understand why the Japanese arcade scene needs to be kept alive as long as possible. I’m talkin’ Terri Schiavo that bitch! Anyway I’ll make this short and ask two questions to the nonbelievers:

  1. How many non-Japanese or console only fighting games have been worth a fuck and could withstand the competitive test of time?

  2. Do you honestly think companies will patch the shit out of their games without the stream of arcade revenue incentives?

Okay, so do you think the same people would still be playing early to late 90’s fighters 15 years from now as our current hardcore start to leave the scene? Do you think there will be enough new players to replace the old players without new games bringing in new people? I don’t see the same few 10+ year old games keeping the scene alive for the next 15 years, sorry. And I never said SFIV is the saving grace of the current scene. I think it is a big part of the equation for the long term. Whatever floats your boat though. I think people in Cali, NY, and the few other places that actually have arcades in the U.S. kind of have a warped view. Things are good for you guys. And you aren’t the majority… trust me.

Umm. I cant even imagine this game not getting an arcade release. Everyone needs to relax because its going to happen.

It was in a game reactor video interview with Ono. I hope it was a translation error, but it doesn’t sound like it. I don’t think boycotting it is the answer though if you really still enjoy SFIV.

I’d like for an arcade release, I don’t really want to find out what will happen if there isn’t a release. I don’t think it can be good.

you’re not the first person to ask what the japanese players think about ssf4 not getting an arcade release…

but did you notice that every person in this thread that is actually part of the japanese arcade scene, or in japan, or has played with the japanese players over there have all pretty much stated that the japanese will not play it if it doesn’t get an arcade release? this is just how japan is. not arcade = not legitimate pretty much.

also, i think you are right that it is quite possible that japan and other asian countries will just keep playing vanilla sf4 and that it might end up becoming the tournament standard.

anyway, all of this probably doesn’t matter. i fully believe ono is full of shit and that this game will be released in the arcades.
i mean, how many times has he blatantly lied about ssf4 already?

Just when I was wondering why I even come to SRK anymore I read this post.

Probably a scam to try and get more console money before they unleash it to arcades. Hopefully that is true.

man this thread has gotten me all depressed now and i started thinking about the state of the arcade scene.

recently i picked up the latest copy of arcadia magazine (i think october issue? the one before the tougeki sf4 dvd) and it was really well done, they did a lot of coverage on tougeki, latest arcade releases etc.

but one thing i noticed was 1) lack of new games, so they had to fill up arcadia with old material (like tekken 6 br movelists or something like that.)

and they covered mobile cellphone games as well for a few pages (why would they cover mobile cell phone games in ARCADIA magazine?)

makes me think arcadia/enterbrain is really struggling as a company.
i also noticed the lack of advertisements in the magazine too…since there must be a lack of games to advertise, or companies dont wanna spend money as much in a recession? could be both. i dont know.

im wondering how tougeki/sbo can even survive if a mainstream game like sf4 goes to console considering they are a arcade only event.

iirc, a lot of the foreign international press came to witness the sf4 hype on day 1 and left after that. of course it was still crazy hype, but only the diehards of said games were left.

really has me thinking… :frowning:

Not as often as he was misinterpreted or mistranslated, that’s for sure.

Please Capcom make an arcade release and treat it equally with the consoles!

I agree with parabellum on these 3 points. I don’t play in an aracde ever since there is nothing remotely close to me but the points he makes are excellent. Especially #1. I like watching what that Japanese can do. They are the best, hands down.

That being said… i really can’t hide my excitement for this game. I am so happy that this is even happening. YES!!!

Can Az/Nana/Reno/Taito or someone with some Japanese proficiency to give us the rundown on the 2ch reaction to this news?

When we know what they’re saying, we know whether this demand is warranted.

Until then, we can only speculate.
