Petition for arcade release of SSF4

WE NEED ARCADE RELEASE!
If there is no arcade release, it will probably be the end of my relationship with Street Fighter. I play specifically because I enjoy the experience of going to the arcade. To sit at home and play on the internet would take all of the fun out of it for me. I will probably migrate to some other game that still supports arcade.

huh? Everybody knew SF4 was coming to console after arcade based on the logic of it. not because I saw it on youtube. I heard it was coming but didn’t bother looking into Youtube for a first look. I’m sure some of those who got that first look lost interest in the game and didn’t buy it.

Anyway, some much needed Veteran from SoCal’s opinion is up a couple scrolls. If Mr. Valle is sold, nobody can argue.

This is the kind of attitude we all need to have as American players. I’m not sure what you Japanese players will do if there is indeed no Arcade version of SSFIV.

Honestly…fuck arcades. Its a tired trend (here in the US at least) nowadays anywho and PSN and Live kills the thrill of the arcades. Why go to an arcade when you can play games with various people, chat with various people and get tips from various people, without leaving your fucking house?

Like dime and Smokes mentioned…arcades not being released in Japan does NOT affect the US at ALL. There is only a few arcades in select locations in the US anyways. Why the hell are people who dont even live in Japan even gives a flying fuck in the first place? I dont see threads of Japanese people bitching about it on Japanese forums, why yaw gotta bitch about it?

And this petition aint going to work either.

If this thread is truly a petition to help SSF4 get an arcade release, then I don’t see why, if it doesn’t matter one way or another personally to each of you, you all aren’t just signing instead of posting about why it matters. If Parabellum is the only guy in the world who wants an arcade release, then we should all have his back. It’s easy too, watch:

Signed.

Honestly not having an arcade release didn’t even cross my mind.
I can’t imagine that they would actually go through with it.

If they did, all it would mean is we would continue playing sf4.

I’m all for having an arcade release myself, but people who are going to quit the game as an act of rebellion seems a little overboard. With that said, if I see a petition, I’ll sign. I don’t personally frequent the arcades a lot here, but the support is more for the main arcade scenes around the U.S. that house dedicated and devoted players.

Also, a small minority of posts I’ve read (not necessarily in this thread) have mentioned things about not being able to learn from Japan players because of this. I say, why should we wait for the Japan players to get better than us? We have talented players who are more than capable of doing anything the Japanese are doing. I understand it’s a “Japanese” game, it don’t mean we have to sit back and wait for them though.

I so agree. American players need to stop dick riding the Japanese.

Valle’s Post

Ya I just dont get it, it’s like people who dont have an arcade scene are getting defensive about the console scene, I’m all for both but I personally have an arcade scene and what to see it grow. Do you want to help? Thank you! You don’t move on it has nothing to do with you:xeye:

No…I would, as well as a significant portion of SRK I’ll bet will be playing SSF4 while the arcade jockeys who cant get over themselves play some outdated version because another country didnt get an arcade version.

This. Also, the U.S SF scene DOES NOT need Japan. The top players right now are Japanese. If Japan abandons SSF4 (unlikely) so what? Marvel didn’t need Japan to have some of the best hype and competition around. Marvel was on arcades yes but most people didn’t have consoles to play it on and there were a lot more arcades around. In the end though it’s Ono and usually he’s very wrong about key things so there probably will be an arcade version anyways.

Bing fucking O! QFT

That was quite a good post there, Valle…

Honestly the arcade scene is dead in the U.S. and is dying like crazy in Japan. Look at how many arcades have had to shut down or dramatically scale back in Japan. Should SSFIV get an arcade release? Yes. But the focus from now on for fighting games should be consoles.

Look at how long it took some games back in the day to make it to consoles with decent ports. Third Strike came out in 1999 and only got a good port with AE in 2004. Tekken 6 BR is taking two years to get a port. You want to wait that long for SSFIV? Virtua Fighter 5R isn’t even coming to consoles. This is what happens when companies focus on the arcade. Consoles players miss out.

Japan gets years of enjoying the best fighters as arcade exclusives. Meanwhile places like the U.S. (a country of 350 million people) get maybe what…less than 100 SFIV machines total? For once Capcom is doing the right thing and giving people outside of Japan a chance to play the game on day one.

Not everyone in the U.S. lives near Chinatown Fair or Arcade Infinity.

Times have changed. The focus is shifting to consoles. We should be grateful to Capcom for thinking of console fans first instead of focusing merely on Japan and its arcade scene.

Lastly, SSFIV hasn’t even been confirmed to be not receiving an arcade version, so why all the controversy? The version of SSFIV that’s been running at test shows was off of a Capcom development PC running demo software.

Have you even been to an arcade? If you think online play removes the thrill of playing in arcades then I can’t imagine if you ever went to any you enjoyed it in the first place.

Do you read Japanese forums for SF?

Valle is right. If it comes to pass that SSF4 really does only get a console release, all you can do is make the best of it and adapt. Personally I’ll continue to play what I can play in arcades, but I can’t fault people for going in a different direction.

Like which ones?? What are you talking about?

And he was ever so gentle, too.

A true gentleman talking truth. :smokin:

Listen to the man, peeps.

i’ve been thinking about this a lot and honestly if it doesn’t come out on arcade i’m not gonna play this game. capcom and everyone who supports this decision can shove the game up their ass. i hope i’m not alone in this opinion, but if i am then so be it. and i need to say this, capcom never even gave SFIV a chance in american arcades. they never released the game in america. in fact i’m pretty sure thier american coinop division is out of business or heavily scaled back. it’s not even just capcom, sega didn’t release VF5 for american arcade market at all. their games are all either racing or light gun games for d&b…so fuck it.

Good…I hope that you really stick to that conviction.
I on the other hand will get the game when it comes out.

Tonight’s really been revealing how disassociated some people can get… even if they own a current console.
