lol tekken is king of the arcade, not sf
Haha, OWNED. :smokin:
That would actually be a godsend for American arcades. Though I’m curious how getting the licensing for a cabinet that is essentially a PS3/XBox would go (in the states)
lol why wouldnt it be released in the arcades?
I thought there was supposed to be arcade loke tests or some shit??
We used Hori sticks for SC4. Basically they ripped out the guts to the hori and slapped them in. They worked just as well as any other arcade game too.
I’m gonna say that if there’s no SSF4 for arcade, the game is as good as dead in the scene. I mean, the arcade version took quite a hit when console version was released, but people kept playing because the original arcade characters were still the same in the console version. But with SSF4 they’re probably gonna be really different…
Or it’s more likely that since arcade goers aren’t playing online, they don’t have lag to negatively affect their game. It’s not merely being part of the local community. we have a community here on the internet to discuss strategies etc to the same, if not greater effect. Main point being: arcade players won’t get worse, it’s just that there will be a lot more competition against the great ones online. That is if online play in SSF4 is flawless.
Also Reno, I know you’re in Japan, have you talked with others at the arcade about Capcom’s current decision?
Hah! At your second sentence. This shows how little YOU know! Arcades are no place to “kick back.”
Created a thread in Unity.
We need to get the word out that this shit NEEDS an arcade release!
If and when I do want to kick back, I simply stay home and watch the sequel to 3 Ninjas on Blu-Ray?.
Theoretically, isn’t it possible that arcades could just hook up a few 360s, slap down some fightsticks, and charge per hour like an internet cafe?
I’m sure if the community wants it enough they will find a way to simulate the arcade expeirience even if there is no arcade version.
I would however, not be effected either way considering the complete lack of arcades that I can go to.
the only reason daigo came to evo this year to play sf4 on ps3 was because of the gamestop tourney. it was a free trip for him, he has nothing to lose.
However dats not going to be the case next year when ssf4 comes out, i doubt any japanese will be willing to spend their own money on their trip to come here to play in a tournament where they have no experience with more than half of the character rooster.
Just look at 3rd strike in japan… there are tons of player that still plays 3s in arcades and refuse to play sf4, this will be the same case for ssf4, if there is no arcade version, its only going to slip up the userbase.
this. i know my local arcade has two setups. one 360 and one ps3. i personally just play at home, but the one time i was there it was a rather nice setup so i just dont see the issue i guess.
The Times They Are A-Changin

My bad I guess its where you go to circle jerk?
Im all for it! I cant imagine how terrible it would be not having videos of top japanese players beasting with the new characters. We learn so much from them.
hah…
It’s truly heartbreaking that the next SF title is going straight to DVD. A lot of us have grown up to love the SF series from the arcades where the community was born. But guess what, we’re not newborns anymore people.
For whatever reason Capcom decided to release SSF4 for console only, is it really that bad? (Don’t we all own SF4 at home and contintue to play it today?)
This community has changed many times over the years to where the new breed is blinded by the present. Why oh why are there Negative Nancys talking about communities are gonna split (arcade/console) LOL :lame:
When arcade tournaments turned into console ONLY tournaments…what did we do… WE ADAPTED… the birth of console players (pad warriors) which only helped our community to grow!
So why can’t we do the same for this?
Pretty soon the netcode for fighting games will be ggpo (cross fingers) or close to it. Will you still support your local arcade scene? Maybe the die hards… but not the majority.
I encourage ALL of you… NEW and VETERAN players to STEP YOUR COMMUNITY GAME UP!!
If you don’t do this… you will play the same 10-20 people in your area and wonder… my town sucks…nobody wants to play with me… I wish I lived in Cali, they got a big playerbase there.
How do you think it got big in the first place??
Norcal and Socal started as rivals and became friends.
People like Tom/Tony created SRK and the EVO Series
Top Cali players would fly cross country tourneys to inspire others to play.
Cali became infamous for high qualty SF play worldwide.
Ideas:
Tournaments is always a good idea (which is the most popular choice)
SSF4 console release party!
Sessions in every major city near you! I’m sure the boonies has internet too =)
Top player classes with new players. Here’s an example of what I’m working with -http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=7528952&postcount=471
Or any other special event your creative minds can think of.
My hats off to the guys always throwing great events every year
Don’t let the arcade scene nostalgia derail the future of the FGC.
This is America, we have our own community and the most passionate players in the world!
I know it must suck for arcade operators, but I fully support arcade release AFTER console release. That way there is time for a balance patch to go through, with the patched console version matching the arcade one. It doesn’t really work the other way does it?
No arcade version at all seems absurd though. Maybe he was just referring to an official release to American arcades?
Does Capcom realize the Arcade version was a huge advertisement for the console version? Prior to purchasing sf4, seeing all those early youtube video and advanced tactics peak my interest in the game.
