Not a spec post specifically. More of a recommendation post. Apparently I’ll need quite a substantial upgrade to be able to play SFV. Is it possible to get a desktop PC that can run well SFV along with other Nvidia graphics games? Could I get something for around 500-700 dollars?
For folks running the game above 1080P I have a question.
Does the actual game allows you to up the resolution above 1080P, because for me, it is locked at 1080P unless
I used nVidia’s geforce experience thing to increase the resolution. However, over time, it gradually reduces performance, with some hiccups during intros, FMV type sequences. Also, If I alt-tab, to check something on the desktop, the game reverts to 1080P setting.
For people with 16:10 monitors (the best monitor size in my opinion), and also above 1080P so the folks with the 30 inch 2560x1600 monitors, how are you keeping the resolution at 2560x1600, and can you choose 1920x1200 resolution as an option, currently that doesn’t exist for me, incase I keep getting a few hiccups.
Reason I don’t like 1920x1080 is because, the game stretches the top to match my monitor’s 16:10 frame, and also quite frankly 1080P is just not good enough anymore clarity wise.
PC specs:
Intel core I7 3820
16 GB DDR 3 memory, i think running at 2133 Mhz
Geforce GTX 970
um he asked if it would be cheaper to just buy a ps4…
if he wants a pc that runs sf well and other NVidia graphics games it would cost a pretty penny since even the new games now require minimum of a 970 which is $300 alone
building a $500-700 pc vs a $300 or less ps4
ps4 will have 3 years worth of life
a $500-700 pc most likely won’t for future games
so to answer his question, yes…it would be cheaper to just buy a ps4…
A PC that has higher performance on first purchase will continue to have higher performance. As devs put higher-end graphical settings into their game you won’t always be able to max them out but we’re talking about things you don’t even have the option for on a PS4 in the first place since it would melt trying. A PC doesn’t suddenly get weaker.
A 970 has roughly twice the performance of the GPU in the PS4. Minimum/recommended specs are mostly BS. Devs will go overkill on their recommendation because performance standards are higher on PC.
Games will always be optimized for consoles for the next coming years
It’s just my philosophy that if I spend $500 or more, it should do things at an optimal and last me multiple years without having to upgrade
I don’t believe in spending over $500 just to get by
That’s just me
Games coming out this month on pc are requiring a 970 and i5’s
By next year they will be requiring 980. Hell maybe even the end of the year
Again this is all just my opinions and personal recommendations
I’m curious as to what build you guys recommend in the $500-700 range that will last the coming years
SFV runs on medium settings on a PS4 and still has frame drops. Is this what you mean by “optimized”? Because this is all optimization really is. Lowering/dialing back settings to increase performance. It’s very rare to increase performance without sacrificing anything unless there was something significantly wrong/bugged in the original scenario.
You can “optimize” on your PC, too. It’s called lowering the graphical settings to something your hardware can handle.
Seems like you hold both platforms to different standards when judging how long they will “last”. A 500-700 PC that runs games better than a PS4 now will always continue to do so. That same PC will fall behind the capabilities of new hardware, yes, but that’s the nature of PC gaming.
Here’s a quick build I put together in 2 minutes. I even put in an SSD in addition to an HDD. No cheap parts and a very nice case to boot.
This PC will always put out more performance than the PS4 at equivalent graphical settings for life. In the case of SFV you will benefit from faster loading times, higher graphical quality, and rock-solid 60 FPS.
I, too, recommend spending more money on a PC (because it will make for a more enjoyable experience) but this idea that a cheaper PC will get “outdated” while a PS4 won’t is pretty dumb. The Division is coming out on PS4 and it will run 1080p 30FPS on non-maxed out settings. It doesn’t take much hardware power to beat that level of performance.
Pretty sure I said I want optimized if I’m spending** over half a grand**
PS4 is only $300 and I can find one $200 used with games
But you’re right
Sorry
