Man, fuck permission, it’s not like they’ll be losing any money from us holding a tourney. The only thing that would suck is that we only have one cabinet and random scrubs might come up trying to play. Also, lets hold it at 2 or 3 maybe… fucking morning is too short to be up by one now that i think about it.
On that note, just a little bit before Northvale on 303 is a new pool hall which i’ve heard has a working Marvel Cabinet! Not only should it be simple to get in touch with them, but the atmosphere would be a LOT better and the 90degree heat and random toddlers wouldn’t even be a factor.
In either case, it will be really silly, imo, to have a tournament on this short notice, nobody will show up except for maybe the five people actively posting here and three or four others.
my only concern is what happens after someone’s match is over?..without the machine on free play, are we going sit there and wait until the winner’s team is killed by the computer?..i dont mind paying per match…but itll take a lot more time…do you know how long tourneys last?..an 8 person double elimination mvc2 tourney already lasts around 2-3 hours…so starting around 1 would be a good time if you wanna get mvc2 and cvs2…
also, any word on apex?..its really cool that you’re coordinating this orion…wish i was more motivated back then…o well…keep it up~!

today, I sent javi the apex administrator request, so whenever he gets back to me and creates the account, pali tourneys will start giving apex points…
as for that pool hall in Northvale…
I have heard of it before, and it’s actually a lot simpler to get to for me, at least…
it’s a 5 minute drive, whereas the mall is a 15 minute drive…
I actually know some of the people that play mvc2 there, and they’re kinda lacking in skill, but they think they’re great, so they would probably play in a tourney…
I could probably get in touch with those people for a tourney or something…
the only problem is that they only have mvc2…
but the mall’s cvs2 machine is always broken anyways…

i think we could do this next week for both games, if we advertise this, make it apex and do it the right way you there could be 10-15 players for each game, as the word gets out more interest is gonna come, the old guy who works on the machines told me that cvs2 is missing parts that he has to order, but should be repaired soon, i’ll have to see it to believe it, but come on people-palisades tournament- lets just do it and not worry about the negatives,

ive never been to the northvale pool hall…it opened when i was in boston and i havent been back long enough to check it out yet…but i could literally walk there…haha…
anyways, if you post it in the tournament forum, you could probly get a few more ppl to come…and put up some flyers or something, that helps…

So, how about we have a Marvel tourney this weekend at the new pool hall starting at 2 (alex, i know you’re gonna back me up on the importance of sleep) and then have MvC2 and CvS2 at the Mall next week, with permission and APEX points?
If there really are scrubs who play at the pool hall, it’d be nice for two reasons:
Tournaments give people motivation to learn how to play better. By the end of the summer at least one or two of them should be acceptable competition, at least above scrub level.
The pool hall is closer to my house, doesn’t run on tokens, and probably has a better atmosphere… with seats maybe! No more sweating balls and standing up all the time! And, finally, its close to wendy’s… nuff said.
