Mind you these aren’t numbers I pulled off of google or wikipedia either, I’m quoting numbers from medical peer review journals (which you can get at any library database) that date as recently as '05.

Because everyone has bad intentions at some point or another. My father was a very terrible man, I have honestly wished I could’ve killed him by now. And I’m sure if I was given the option about 2 years ago, I would’ve taken it. However, I’m not in prison because I didn’t act on that desire. People don’t control what they think or what their attractions are, and jailing someone just because they’re a pedophile (note: I haven’t said they’ve acted on it) is just silly. Should we imprison everyone with anger management problems? Should we imprison everyone who has the impulse to steal when they go into a store?

When they recidivate they return to the type of behavior that landed them in prison in the first place, be it collecting/viewing child pornography or actually going out there and sexually assaulting children.
False, I know a guy who is attracted to 15 yo girls and has never looked at nothing illegal since he has 2 younger sisters whom he respects a lot and now he has a small daughter for whom he cares tons. I know someone who’s a former clinical psychologist (retired now), she worked with sex offenders early on in her career and I believe she put it best:

I can’t believe that this is even being argued. Untill you are willing to bust down the door of ever member of the Klan, every Neo Nazi, most of the members of the Nation of Islam and even some of the crazy Christian sects out there, like the Southern Baptists, shut the fuck up.
All of those groups of people want to break one law or another. All of those people would love to do harm to one group or another. But for the most part they don’t. They mainly just stay among themselves and talk about how much they would like to break laws. You can’t play favorites just because one group thinks about harming children sexually.
As heinous as that is, you cannot assume that any person that thinks about it is going to do it just because some people have, any more than you can assume that every white racist is going to lynch someone, just because some of them have done it in the past.

If a convicted Peadophile serves his sentence yet still see’s nothing wrong with his actions when assessed. Why on earth would you release that person?
