You can’t really just find pedophiles out of the blue. Within the US, we got 50 states, and all the pedophiles are diversified throughout the whole country. You cannot catch as many pedophiles as you want, but we can’t really stop pedophilia. The only pedophiles who you can really catch ares one’s being baited like Dateline. If you seen the shows, those pedophiles could have been anyone you may know, (e.g. firefighter, policeman, your neighbor named Bob, etc.).
I remember when i was still in high school, this woman on rape and related stuff lectured my psychology class. Basically this man had this best friend. I guess his best friend was well liked by the family especially his daughter and son. One day the guy’s wife noticed that her son’s underwear had blood on it, making her confused. Just until the guy’s best friend was in Wal Mart, he stuck his hand under the guy’s daughter pants, she told her mother, and the guy was eventually persecuted with this rather confusing story. I hope you are referring to those who would never, ever act on their desires. I am honestly beside myself with some of the replies in this thread, namely the ones attempting to justify child porn/acting out desires. What are we, animals? What the fuck is the point of having brains if we can’t deal with the most basis of desires and deal with them? Not that I can even comprehend someone having those kinds of thoughts in the first fucking place, since they are beyond repulsive and loathsome. But if you can’t control them to the point where you are hurting families and children, then you are weak and need to be dealt out of the game anyway.
The absolute last thing that should be done is to seemingly encourage sex with children and to attempt to give the act some sort of normality in society. That’s just asking for trouble.
Should they be allowed to hold a vote for it? It’s hard to say. I’m not very familiar with a constitutional monarchy, but I assume that they may have the right to bring this child porn/age of consent thing to light. However, I see that as an indirect threat to each individuals right to security. Not to mention the Pandora’s Box that it may open. What is to stop people from attemtping to legalize rape, or even murder? And there is the very slight chance that the pedos will just crawl out of the woodwork and somehow manage to get this peice of shit passed. Chances are, however, that won’t happen, but that is still wasted resources and may even contribute to the peoples faith and trust in the government (lol).
There is always a line that has to be drawn in cases like this. You can’t stand behind the constitution/bill of rights/whatever and whole heartedly advocate one side of the argument simply because it’s permitted. It’s imperfect and there are times when outside influence and judgements are needed based on individual rights, group rights, the well-being of society, and moral ramifications.

no, there are alot of good points in the thread. there were some attacks on democracy, the democratic proccess and the constitution laid down out of fear or emotion and they were set straight. it is a touchy subject, you have people who want relations(mostly sexual) with children. while we will never understand it, its a fact. and truth be told, it is our culture that has deemed this as a sickness, but this is also a culture that says two consenting adults can’t marry eachother, regardless of sex, so its not the mst enlightened. now, i’m not saying enlightenment comes from allowing pedophiles to act out on their desires, i’m saying we live in a culture that shuns sex.
let me propose something. its not gonna be a popular idea, but at least it comes with a line of logic. so, in that, spud and inverse won’t get it. in a culture of open sexuality, one without the ‘moral’ guilt we have in our society regarding sex, people of puberty age would be more likely to be able to engage in sexual activity without the consequences brought forth by our culture. if sexuality is open, sexual activity won’t bring the problems such as guilt or confusion. if sexuality is out in the open, it would be normal, and thus not problematic for young kids to understand. it is well known that in overly ‘moral’ societies, the problems ascociated with sex come from guilt or the belief that it is wrong. in some cultures, the guilt is so bad and forbidding that people straight out go insane from their inability to deal with their own NATURAL sexual desires, even the desire to masturbate. the more open and free sexuality is, the more likely it is that people will grow up with a very healthy understanding of sex and sexuality. even a 13-14 year old could understand the overall ramifications of sexuality and understand their own desire to particpate in it.
it is very difficult for us to understand because we grow up in a culture that says sex is bad, its something to be hidden from children and its something to be hidden in a bedroom from the public. why do you think we have so many sexual ‘deviants’? a lack of understanding or openess of sex leads to deviation. its along the same lines of a highly religious individual to be more likely to get pregnant young or commit rape than someone who did not grow up with that attitude about sex. i grew up in a household that, while very christian, was very open about sex. my mom sat us down when we were young and explained everything and explained that it is totally natural. she never made us feel like it was something dirty. amazingly, i didn’t just go out and start banging young, i actually waited till i found someone i cared about to do it with. i understood sex from someone who knew about it, not from the playground.
maybe all this is a little more deep than some of you can understand, but i suggest you take a human sexuality class. it may open your eyes up to the deeper aspects of sex and the effects that a society can have on the phychology of sex and sexuality.

I experienced the oppposite, sex was a big dirty taboo at my house. It took me years and a being caught by the father of one of my gf’s (who only asked if we were using condoms and left, afterwards he told me there was nothing wrong and as soon as we took care of ourselves and didn’t make too much noise there was no problem about having sex in the house) to take that idea from my head.
When I have kids I’ll do everything in my power to help them be at peace with their own sexuality. The guilt and depression brought by not being comfortable with oneself can disorder someone really bad.
