It’s not. It’s more like the love child of EVA and Godzilla if he were raised by Ultraman.
EDIT:
On my second viewing, me and my friend were marking out everytime we saw a pro-wrestling move (full nelson suplex on Leatherback was hype). Also, Gypsy coming out to save Striker, with Leatherback alerted by all the lights might as well have taken place on the ring with whatever heel suddenly panicking whatever hype babyface’s music started playing out of the Titantron.
This movie is so goddamn fun to watch. The graphics is just spectacular and the sound is ridiculously great too. There’s no way this movie isn’t going to win an Oscar for those two categories. The only disappointing part was the nuke because that shit is played out and that scene was basically the same as in the Avengers except it was Dark Knight Rises-retarded because it was a nuclear reactor not a nuclear bomb and the two things are not interchangeable. Easily overlooked considering how enjoyable the movie is throughout before that though. I definitely have to watch it in IMAX next time.
one of those politicians are stupid moments. it happens in real life where the cost/value of the war is too much so some idiot in govt thinks they have a good plan and its clearly the stupidest thing ever but cause it fits what the politicians want…they tend to do it. also it gives humans busy work…i imagine its some kind of gleaming false hope that they are taking their destiny into their own hands as a race.
My quick review of this movie - fun…ish. I just wasn’t blown away in the way I wanted to be. I wanted that same fascination and childlike wonder I got seeing ID4 for the first time. I didn’t get it. It had some awesome scenes, but the plot was a hot mess.
Spoiler
How many movies can we see where advanced being know how to travel across galaxies/dimensions but don’t have the ability to stop being who can not do that from throwing a wrench in their plans?
Do western movies often get dubbed when they are released in JP or will they just get english version as well. If they do I will probably import the JP bluray when it’s released.
pretty sure they dub them. its only the younger generations who are taught english early on…like probably kids who are in their early 40-mid 40’s were probably the first to be taught that.
They probably didn’t, the Kaiju were mainly attacking coastal areas, the wall itself was a cheap solution meant to give peace to the poor folk that hadn’t moved away from the Pacific coast while giving them a bit of a warning. They probably would have built walls in land before long while prepping nuclear or other standard armaments.
Yeah, most foreign countries dub English movies to whatever language like we do theirs when we bring them over unless they do a full on remake with their own nation’s actors. On that note, the original voice actors for Mobile Suit Gundam’s Char and Amuro along with the voice actress that played Rei from Neon Genesis Evangelion are doing or did Japanese dub work for Pacific Rim.
