They did a perfect job of recreating a giant robot anime. I don’t like mecha so the film didn’t do much for me. If the acting had been less campy I might have enjoyed it more but it was OK.
Don’t forget that one of the pilots is the guy who used to play Kurrgan in the WWF back in the 90’s.
Blonde Zagief was pretty cool. When they showed all the people lining up to spar I thought we’d get a few UFC cameos but we didn’t.
Went ahead and saw it again, this time with my own money too.
This is not the first recent Hollywood movie to borrow from anime.
“Inception’s” plot is heavily, heavily inspired by Satoshi Kon’s “Paprika.”
Is this 3D worthy?
^Yes.
It’s mostly immersion 3D, but it’s really fucking good immersion 3D.
There are more than a few in your face moments though, but they don’t over do it.
Saw this standard. I really should’ve seen it IMAX 3D
Alright thanks, will try to watch this tomorrow…Would this be ok for a 4 year old girl to watch?
If she doesn’t get nightmares easily and can stand blue monster blood plus very few instances of monster gore, sure.
The most graphic human death scene…
Spoiler
Has one of the Jaeger teams hull compromised then pushed under water where their cockpit is flooded and it looks like they are drowning before the monster punches their submerged robot and all you see is a underwater flare up.
But honestly, as long as the girl isn’t one of those scare easy types, she should be fine if she has seen any other blockbuster sci-fi PG-13 within the past few years.
I hope this film does well but whenever I watch a film in a packed out cinema the experience always ends up being negative. Being able to sit where you want is a good thing.
Loved every moment of this movie. Guillermo Del Toro never ceases to amaze.
2013 been good year so far with the movies.
I liked the movie a lot
Fx has the movies
Charlie and Clay were funny
Jax as generic white hero guy was a waste of his talents, but what he did was okay.
Pacific Rim did ok in the US at $38 million, they already said they are working on trying to do a sequel but the fact that Grown Ups 2 did better makes me wonder who could enjoy that brand of stale PG-13 toilet humor comedy?
Hopefully it has legs enough to crack $100 domestically.
I sincerely think Adam Sandler is conducting a personal experiment to see how many shitty god awful movies he can abort out of his vagina until people finally get sick of him and stop going to see his bullshit; it’s very similar to a serial killer wanting to get caught.
I can’t really blame him, I’d probably do the same if I was in his position.
Realize you no longer make good or relevant movies, so keep pumping out easy and simple garbage until the money stops flowing.
Incredible film. It was fun and well thought out with a wonderful presence and incredible special effects.
kids and adults who grew up on snl…aka early 30-40 year olds.
