That CC is the primary source of slowdown. If the slowdown was consistent, it wouldn’t be so bad, but it depends on the stage. With that said, I don’t think anyone is going to bitch if you choose DC for CvS2, as long as you make a final decision soon.
I think tau and I can each bring a copy of CvS2. I’m sure kabuki mono would bring one too if he goes. IIRC, Mackenzie has a copy as well. That’s 2-4 copies right there.
Speaking of sticks working, my stick for some reason doesn’t like most slimline PS2s so I hope I’m not the only one with a fat ps2 or I can’t play third strike right.
I just want to have it be the best port possible for the competitors. I would like to have it on PS2 but if there are no discs that can’t happen. I am even fine with running it on both PS2 and Dreamcast if you guys think that would be alright and we only get a few discs.
If we only have 2 or 3 discs about a week before the tournament, we can just do it on DC. If we decide DC and everyone shows up with discs at the tourney, we’ll do it on PS2. We can just be flexible and go with whatever is best.
Hey Brent, just want to apologize that I didn’t get a chance to speak with you about majors at Zach’s last friday. I know you asked me to early in the evening, but then you had fallen asleep by the time the tourneys were over and I remembered to go look for you. Anyway, I’m guessing it’s still far enough out that we can just talk at Zach’s next time or something.
Private messages get the job done fast and discreetly, so all public PNW info stays in this thread and organization discussion is taken care of elsewhere.
If there aren’t enough ps2 discs to do it on just ps2, I would rather it be on just DC. Perhaps I’m overly picky, but the speed difference is enough to throw off my combos. I think consistency is more important than choosing the slightly better port. If you do end up using DC, ban the damn rain stage.
It works, but this is Marvel city, and Dictator isn’t even a big character played here. The design looks good, but maybe a different game/character should be representing?
Hey Guys. I have an idea for promotion. I want to contact as many newspapers and news shows as possible about the tournament and see if we can get them to report on it. The idea is to get the word out about this tournament after it has happened so that people know about it and will be looking forward to the next one.
Any promotion we can do great. Calling King 5 or Kiro 7 news and asking them to report on a small community event is something they might do or mention breifly in a newscast. We shouldn’t have any problem getting mentioned in a newspaper, or a publication like the Stanger, even if we aren’t front page.
This is a list of places that I can think to contact right now.
King 5 News
Kiro 7 News
The Seattle Times
The Seattle PI
The UW Daily
The Stranger
Post up if you have some ideas about other places that might write about or talk about the event or if you want to help with this. I am really busy right now, so I can’t get on it for at least a week.
This actually sounds like a good idea! It’s worth a shot, even if the news stations don’t work out. I’ll try and come up with some ideas here. Maybe some people I know at the college will have some ideas/connections.
The Stranger would be awesome. They are actually down the street from me. However, I doubt they let random mexicans walk in to talk about competitive fighting games. They do all sorts of strange shit who knows. I wish they would interview me. Imagine a column, “Pablo Uncensored: Fighting Games and White Girls Edition”.
