Not really, that shit even went platinum on the ps1.
Oh yeaaah, Cardinal Syn. Badass name, awesome music especially in the menu, loved the demo (just the knight and the egypt girl in the pyramid stage). When I finally tried the full game years later though, I wasn’t as impressed. Didn’t really like the other characters and stages lol.
Breackers and breackers revenge
Also RABBITS.
Wow I didnt know arena toshinden was that popular…
Iron and Blood

Vs.
already mentioned: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vs._(video_game)
there was some chick in the game that I thought was hot when I was 12…
Breaker’s revenge i a beasty game. I still play it every now and then but I’m scrubbish.
And rabbits…? Was that the first fighter to have a parrying system???
I think Samurai Shodown was the first to introduce parrying.
Thanks for reminding me of Psychic Force 2. Now I wanna go to the arcade and play that game now. (Mine has PF2 on a Egret cab)
Who else thinks that Tekken X Street Fighter should play like Tobal 2?
That game had everything, energy attacks, juggling, etc.
Dark Awake (Chaos Breaker)
another vote for this one, tobal 2 needs a remasterewd release on the hd consoles
Eretzvajus would be always one of my favorites on the PS1
hope more people would play it, or at least that the people that have it wouldnt live so far, cuz the netcode is ass
I played some of it over a friends house on his 360, its pretty fun. I’m considering getting the Euro PS3 retail version though. I don’t know what happened that made it fall off the way it did. Arc System Works games just don’t “fall off” like that without some valid reason. The game doesn’t feel imbalanced, and it looks pretty.
Then again, you did just say the netcode is ass…so that ends me playing with anyone online.
I liked Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style when I was a kid. Best OST of any fighter
I always thought Weapon Lord was a really underrated fighting game. My favorite overlooked fighter is Evil Zone. It was simple but a lot of fun. A next-gen sequel would have been nice.
the netcode may have contribute but it really isn’t the downfall.
You have to first understand that Battle fantasia arcade was failure and before it could correct its problem, games like arcana hearts 1 was introduce to steal away the "new game hype"
Though the retail version of Battle fantasia address these, the arcade version is ultimately left alone.thats why it was left out in the arcade scene and international exposure was poor with no arcade scene
You guys remember that game Taekwon Do from SNES? I guess it can’t be taken seriously as a fighting game, but it is extremely fun to play (and got the most epic final boss battle I’ve ever played).
Rage of the Dragons
Savage Reigh/Kizuna Encounter
Underrated, but not totally forgotten. DJames stated that the Guard Impact system in Soul Cal was taken in part from Weapon Lord’s own implementation of parries (“Thrust-Blocking”).
EHRGEIZ God Bless The Ring
awwwwwwwwwwww yeah!
Power Stone 1 & 2
Not really that obscure compared to some other games here, but Naruto Ultimate Ninja Accel 2 on PS2 (not the 3D one), when I was in high school back in China, 3 friends and I would go to the local game store after school everyday and rent a PS2 on a crappy ass TV for 5 yuan/hour and play this game. Shit became really competitive when people from other schools also showed up, people started finding new tactics and shenanigans for various characters and we became really good at the game.
In fact when I showed up at an anime convention the other day they actually had the game and I pretty much dominated everyone there. Fantastic game, interesting mechanics, great balance between execution and tactics, rewards both rush down and zoning, extremely overlooked and underrated imo.
