Outrage in China after toddler run over, ignored (Yes i copy pasted the cnn title)

Only in NY would someone feel comfortable saying this. Proof that people shouldn’t be living in a concrete jungle like rats because in the end of the day they just end up treating their fellow man like rats.

When the leaders of China don’t even bother to pretend human life has any value, is it surprising at all this happened? But then again…this shit happens everywhere.

I’ve said worse and that was when I was in Beverly Hills.

There are many people that HAVE to work 12-15 hours a day just to scrape by.

Unless we want to start quoting sources and comparing statistics what exactly are u saying? Do you think the U.S. and China are comparable in terms of labor laws? Working 15 hours a day on minimum wage in the U.S. is doable. 2 people can do that and get by quite well if they conserve their money although they probably want have benefits. Not only that overtime pay is required by law.

Well we wouldn’t want you to be late to work.

Good, I could lose my job. You know what that could lead too? Laying in the gutter being stepped over. Glad to see we’re on the same page.

I wonder why people refer to like “rats” when referring to people living in the city. Talk about dehumanizing. Like the city is a rats natural habitat.

now she’s sandwich meat

(Don’t be vulgar, Bucket. Everyone knows that girls in China are useless for even that.)

Hmmm…that lead poisoning kicked in faster than I thought. Well, at least she didn’t suffer much. Maybe. [/pointless optimism]

patiently expects for everyone to forget about this in a week’s or two’s time and until something like this happens again

patiently expects the driver(s) to never be charged with anything any time soon, if ever

Ah, I feel comforted by the fact that world is at times so utterly predictable.

Wait. You still had hope for humanity?

…This saddens me far more than the girl dying. What the fuck, Spirit Juice? :frowning:

Although I don’t really agree with what WorstPlayer initially said, uh, yeah some American workers do, so I don’t see what you’re getting at. Maybe not as universally as a lot of Chinese workers, but there are definitely a lot of people here who work OT (or that equivalent amount of time, if not more, in multiple jobs) just to still barely get by. So, yeah, not sure where you’re going with this.

Not that “comparing ‘tragedies’” ever leads to anywhere good regardless.

I really want to see the bleeding hearts in here to come to NY and try to help every person you see wallowing in their own shit that they come by. When they get stabbed by said person, and enter the wallowing in their own shit position themselves don’t say I didn’t warn you. If this tragedy really got to you, the world has a lot more of “fucked up” in store. It’s coming and when it does, be ready to bleed. Remember its down the tracks and not across the street.

I hope you’re ready to take it like a man instead. Do what you can, when you can, and keep on moving.

Yes, there are a lot but we also live in a society where consumption is ingrained in every day life. People attempt to live way beyond their means in many cases. Buying houses they can’t afford is one example.

I was hearing about how in China in one plant they have a safety net on top of the building to keep workers from jumping off. A lot of people work OT here obviously, but like I’ve already stated we have labor laws that anyone can access. Lunches on 8 our days, breaks when working over 5 or 6 hours. They could be working 15 hour shifts with one 15 minute break or no break at all. I was talking about the conditions not just the hours.

America has terrible even laughable healthcare. I wouldn’t be surprised if China has better healthcare.

Well, where do you find the most rats? The video is of an injured child being ignored and you post comment about ignoring a child in need. Because in your mind demonstrating a lack of empathy is some sort of strength. You talked about stepping over a helpless child like they were trash and now you want to be offended by dehumanizing comments.

This whole pefu effect is a joke. Someone would be forcing the child to become injured so the anyone who helped would be bringing a criminal to justice and saving a life. If they could get sued over that then China has bigger problems.

,

And if a shitload of people didn’t live in the city, where would rats be? So how are we living like rats? It’s not like rats built the city and we moved into it. What do we do in the city that’s similar to rats? I’m just pointing out a STUPID comment.

I didn’t talk about stepping over a helpless child like they were trash. I said HERE a child would get immediate attention, even a cracked out homeless child. Comprehension folks, it’s golden. You’re bleeding so badly that you must be getting light headed.

Do not mistake a realistic mindset for a lack of empathy. You just like the idea of being a concerned socially aware person when at the end of the day, what are YOU doing to make the world a better place? Trying to slam someone on SRK who’s telling it like it is? You’re no better despite your sympathy. Sympathy with no action ain’t shit.

So many fake hard ass niggas on the internet be the first ones to bend over backwards to help someone in need if it tickles their fancy. Of course that usually doesn’t involve helping minorities lol.

As far as working those kind of hours, the hours are the hours man. It doesn’t inherently make it any better are worse. If you would have said they working for peanuts I would be inclined to sympathize. But when I see guys rsiking their lifes to work out in the ocean for days straight, working half a day or more looses it’s edge.

(summons popcorn gif)

Oh, wait. I hate popcorn.

I mostly agree. However, like I said, comparing shitty situations never really works out to anything worthwhile, especially since even if a lot of the poverty and hardship in America is self-inflicted by people living way beyond their means like idiots, a lot of it isn’t. So, yes, I’m aware that you were partly talking about conditions on top of everything else, but it’s not really that clear-cut.

(I have to admit, though. As sleazy as it is, that safety net is kinda genius.)

Even dealing with a (supposed) lack of empathy isn’t that clear-cut (unfortunately), but eh, I’m not really going to help you there, obviously.

I am sure having a Taiwanese girlfriend doesn’t influence your thinking on that at all.

As for the post of one of the many bitter expats from China I am currently living in China myself. U.S.A. has been praised quite often in my city when they ask me where I am from. The idea that most Chinese hate west leads me to think he is either A : a terrible English teacher or B. Old (hey 21 years experience he must be) or C. Both

The young people I interact with on a daily basis are friendly. All cultures change, and this younger generation is VERY different from the last one.

To the subject at hand. The Chinese response to this has been swift. The government in that area are considering making it illegal to NOT help someone after this incident. So clearly they know it is a problem, they are outraged, and attempting to fix it. Sure China has it’s share of boneheaded, evil people, but *EVERY *country does.

Demonizing a country that you have never been to shows that you are low on the openness to experience psychology trait. Which relates: to People with low scores on openness tend to have more conventional, traditional interests. They prefer the plain, straightforward, and obvious over the complex, ambiguous, and subtle. They may regard the arts and sciences with suspicion or even view these endeavors as uninteresting.

Keep playing the sheep, or think for yourself for a change. Do you have any personal experience in China? No? Then maybe you could take the high road and not belittle a country you have no experience in yourself.

This isn’t the Debaters Haters Players forum. Dude spouts out assumptions then follows up with “nigga” like that’s supposed to have some kind of effect. If anybody is a fake thug, it’s you. You got time to post on a forum then help yourself.

WorstPlayer, you missed that point. That’s why it sounds stupid to you.

Who said empathy has be demonstrated by action? Talking about comprehension, you can’t discern a metaphor when it’s being used.

And you didn’t read my post which is why you assumed I was talking about the kid in the first paragraph when I was referring to the dying hero.
Your rat comment is still completely unfounded.

Your metaphor just sucked. You’re trying to compare rats to people to demean the people living in cities. Sure rats and people live in cities, so do pigeons, dogs and cats. If comparing people to rats to demean was not your intent what was it?

It doesn’t have to be demonstrated, but if you do nothing while others suffer who gives a damn what you have to say. You’re the same kind of person who stands around waiting for someone else to do something. Caring and not doing anything about it, is as bad or worse than being someone who doesn’t care.

So just be honest, admit that you really don’t give a fuck, but you like the view from your high horse.

acctually there was a story about a stabbed homeless guy who was ignored until he died… but this child got hit by 2 cars…
