Other fighters you guys play?

Currently SF4AE, 3SOE, and VF5FS.
The latter is proving difficult though as I never played a 3d fighter before and the game seems about 10x more complex than SF. Amazing game though, and godlike online I can play people from Japan and it’s still very playable. Wish I could say the same for 3SOE. If it had better online I would have more incentive to play it since I have no real life competition.

I miss playing brawl.

I miss playing multiplayer games with a human and not these bots capcom sets up for the ranked matches…

wait is that actually true

I don’t think so, but there definitely is an agreed upon, albeit unspoken, code of conduct on that game. Everyone I play seems to start and conitnue the same way if I don’t start to force the mix up.

except me remember. cause i don’t do what you want me to do. cause i’m a mean guy.

ST / CvS2 / HF / A2 / A3 / SSF4 AE
i mess with Tekken from time to time

Been having a blast with VF5FS, seriously the best fighter released this year, altough looking at the competition it isn’t saying much.

after trying a bunch of various games over the past few months, the only ones that are holding my interest are vampire savior and surprisingly STo_O.

trying to break into the 3d games, cuz ttt2 looks sick, and I know nuki and kokujin play VF.

and jojos…ah jojos…I lose interest more and more every time I play it. still an ok game tho, but I wont be playing it too often.

goddamn 3rd strike ruining gaming for me.

I try playing AE every six months or so… get burned out of it after a couple days (if that.) The game is dreadfully slow and winning never feels very satisfying to me. I’ve also tried Marvel3 but it’s extremely silly to me and I can hardly take it serious. I also hate how they nerfed She-hulk and Tron which were my main two chars in the vanilla version.

Since I don’t own a console 3S is enough for me but I also like to visit the Vampire Savior room sometimes. Otherwise, I play Dota2 or TF2 with friends.

Soul Calibur 5, they have parries now…real ones, and supers. Truthfully 3S is my other fighter I’ve been playing the Soul Calibur series since 2 and haven’t really stopped.

I’m spending a lot of times in Persona 4 Arena now and it totally worth. That game rocks!

Finally trying to learn combos for 13, but final semester of college takes priority.

A2/A3/ST/3S/Garou on GGPO. I have 3SO, AE, SFxT, and SC5 on PS3. Got nothing on my 360 since I don’t have a stick that works with it and refuse to use that horrendous DPad. If I ever get some kind of pad converter or modify my stick then I’ll probably pick up 3SO for 360 and that’s it. I have a ton of fighting games for older consoles, but I’m not gonna list everything I own. There is no arcade worth a damn within nearly 200 miles of my home either, so that is effectively out of the question.

As for what I actually enjoy playing and want to play out of that set, ST/3S on GGPO is it. I’m fine playing games like A2/A3/Garou, but I don’t really prefer them. As far as console is concerned I can tolerate playing 3SO, but I mostly dislike it as I feel it handles lag worse than GGPO does. It has advantages in that I don’t have to deal with bars/lines across my game and it’s easier to find players at my level (terrible), but it takes longer to start matches and I’m somewhat used to the GGPO game speed. I highly dislike SFxT, though I gave it a shot. I’m just not the kind of person who likes having more than one character to use at once in a match, so I don’t play any games that use more than one character at a time by default. I only mildly dislike SC5, but that’s because it feels too different from SC2 and I played a lot of SC2.

AE frustrates me really quickly (and gets its own paragraph), so I only play that by request and only a few days out of the month. The game simply feels like it exaggerates the turn-based nature of fighting games too much for me. Just about every game in the world is somewhat turn-based, so that’s fine, but AE really just makes those turns too pronounced and too long for me to deal with. On top of that, my main character in SF4 (Ibuki) literally fucking revolves around the concept of automating your own options as much as possible, making people flip coins for decisions, and attempting to remove options from your opponents to the point where you might as well unplug their controller. I end up playing a lot of Ryu in AE. Now look, I’m a BW player. I played a lot of Brood War back in the day and have a strong, strong, strong appreciation for mechanics, but when my favorite character makes a match feel more like Player vs Controller rather than Player vs Player I really am not going to enjoy it. I like 3S and ST so much because it genuinely feels like I’m playing against my opponent and not because I’m fighting based purely off of mechanics. It could be that AE only feels that way to me because I’m not a pro or even very good, and maybe that’s why ST/3S feel that way for me too. Who knows? What I do know is that if that’s how it feels for me that’s how it feels and I don’t like that feeling. It exhausts me when it feels like I could be playing an AI for all I know.

Btw, I’m not saying ST/3S have no mechanics or that AE has no player vs player. I actually feel all these games have more than enough of both to be skillful and good games. The thing is that they seem to place the focus on mechanics more strongly in one and on player interaction in the other. At least at my level of play anyway. Preference, I suppose.

I figured I should provide some reasoning for my preferences instead of just a list, so sorry for the big post. There’s more to it, but I think that covers the basics on what I like and why.

You’re free to call me a fag now.

Super Turbo is the truth.

I know right probably, shit Dander don’t get banned right away again.

Half of Dander’s beast videos are on XBOX controller. and all mine are too; probably hold dats. Better on your thumb for longer term play even if its a round unfolded fortune cookie that won’t answer to direct questions and actions you want.

Guy vs Ibuki in 4 is “crazy japanese ninjas flying all over the place”

I’d rather play on 360 dpad than PS3 or Wii classic controller. those things fucking wreck your thumb. PS2 was okay though. think they changed the material or something between consoles.

VF5 is fun, too bad it has as small of an American player-base as 3S. I guess America hates good games.

It’s that mechanism they want. That control. They don’t want learn standard transmission 3s.

so 3rd strike =stick shift…
