That’s just a minor technicality, okay buddy?
The game died because it was 10 years old.
If it wasn’t for the parrying system to allow good players use crap characters and still win 9-1 matchups, then the game would have died way before that.
Fixed it for you.
Me, i hate fighting ibuki, I think she’s one of the most auto pilot characters in this game. But that’s just my personal opinion. Do you see me bitching in the Ibuki forums? No.
I’m having fun playing AE, even with Yun. Sometimes I use him (although he’s not my main) and sometimes I fight against him.
Most aren’t having fun due to the nerfs their mains received.
Sent from Hueco Mundo using Garganta Talk.
Except you’ve never actually tried playing as Ibuki to see just how easy or hard she is to autopilot with. I on the other hand, have picked up Yun (alt, not main) and already I’m able to run circles against people that would normally give me trouble if I were to play as Ibuki.
The way Yun is designed, you’re basically encouraged to play like an idiot. Spam dive kicks, spam nj.MK, spam st.MP xx lp Shoulder, spam full screen EX Lunge. Oh your opponent thinks they can pressure you? Mash upkicks. Super Cammy has nothing on what Yun can do.
Super Ibuki/AE Ibuki vs Yun makes almost zero difference. Actually I’d prefer super Ibuki so I can get my mashable U1 back.
In fact I did. She was the character I picked up when Super came out. Played her for a month, realized she was boring (for me, at least) and went back to my beloved akuma. The only reason why Ibuki is even remotely hard to play is because she has SHIT defense and slow walk speed. Especially the slow walk speed was what killed her for me. I always played fast characters.
Her offence on the other hand is 90% autopilot, even before getting that knockdown.
Now, I’m not saying that Yun is hard to play, but he isn’t any harder to play than Ibuki. He is simply STRONGER and that’s why you’re already beating people that were giving you problems with Ibuki.
Stronger =/= easier
Stronger as in… more damage output? More options? More safe on block options? More herp derp to get away with?
Stronger as in “he’s better than ibuki in everything other than okizeme, where he is still very good anyways”.
I mean, shit, he has a dive kick and a command grab…what else could you ask for? a really good super with crazy meter building capabilities? Check.
I’m not saying that Yun is balanced or anything, he’s much stronger than the rest of the cast with 2 or 3 exceptions, still he doesn’t have what it takes to call him broken and he doesn’t deserve even half the nerfs people are asking for. He’d be OVERPOWERED (what a nice word, everyone seems to be using it now) if he had 7-3 matchups vs 80% of the cast with a few 8-2 in between and no bad matchups. This obviously isn’t the case.
Not to mention that most of the scrubs who are complaining would lose to the same Yun players even if ex lunge wasn’t +1 on block and his ex cmd grab had half the range it has (the only two REASONABLE nerfs that could/should be applied to Yun)
I don’t see how your experience is specific to the character. Good players get kicked from games a lot, unless your getting messages talking specifically about your character then they may just find your play style annoying or it could just simply be because your good.
On another note I don’t like the “older games had OP characters so we have to accept it now” theory that seems to be getting used now. Back in the day players didn’t have a voice that would directly be heard by companies, Capcom didn’t listen or really care what players thought then as long as people played. Now that Capcom clearly pays attention to feedback and in some cases reacts accordingly it’s only natural that people are going to express their opinions or dislike for aspects of the game a lot more then they use to. Not to mention the fact that the community as a whole is exponentially larger.
I’d agree if it weren’t for the fact that 90% (and I’m being optimistic) of the people asking for “balance changes” don’t have the necessary experience to do so and are just asking for their character to get better and the characters they’re losing to to get worse.
I love the Yun hate, I say keep them coming.
Funny story, I played this guy called “toptierischeating” in ranked, he picked Hakan and I went with Yun. After I beat him very convincingly, he practically gave me a rage lecture on how winning with a top tier requires no skill.
When you win with Yun, people just assume that it’s the character. Let’s face it, Yun is good but definitely not unbeatable, most Yuns online just kill themselves by being overly aggressive.
I have try both Yun, Yang and Fei (Fei played since Vanilla, I got PC version), but i think Yun has way more TOOLS to win compare with other 2.
Fei got high damage output for some hit, but what does he got? Nice poke, good damage move, good corner pressure. Done. Crap Ultra, no FADC in big damage combo (HK CW whiff 3rd hit for like half of the cast), Crappy DP, Slow as hell Command throw, good target combo consist of LP LK make his BnBs deal little damage.
For yang, his DP are crap. the MK and HK can be interrupted so easy, while the LK just make Yang fly up the sky. Rekka are nice, but since his DP are for punishing fireball, his BnB deals just a little more damage than Fei. His Ultra 1 is a 2-3 frame FADC link, while his 2nd Ultra is easier to link but contain bug and does not combo in to full unless grounded, make his combo into ultra deal low damage. His Super is wicked, but very very hard to use. He still has tools, but they are all worse than Yun.
People tend to accept Yang and Fei because although its rumour that they are considered as S-tier, they still take real hard works. Yun is way harder to use than Vanilla Sagat, but still, too much TOOLS!!!
I think Yun is OP, but not broken. He definitely is not impossible to beat and does require thought and skill to play with. As a T.Hawk player, I’ve been told that Hawk vs Yun is a good matchup for him, but I’m having serious doubts now that the Yun matchup is fair for him, and even though I don’t find it to be real enjoyable when I fight against him, that’s just the baggage that comes with playing AE. Any of us who have played AE knows for a fact that there’s a good likelihood we’ll run into someone playing Yun often. It’s expected to happen, and even though it does get frustrating it’s not reasonable to take our anger out on the player(s). These guys are playing Yun for their own reasons, and if these players feel great enjoyment and happiness from winning alot or playing a Top Tier character, then there’s nothing wrong with that.
If we should blame anybody, it should be Capcom. People are always saying that Capcom doesn’t understand balancing, but the fact is that they do. They purposely made AE unbalanced because it was their intention to do so, and they did it with purpose. Idk what they’re really trying to accomplish by making the game unbalanced, but it’s apparent that the players don’t have much of a say-so in it. But anyways, if you guys are hating Yun Players, you’re hating the wrong people. Yun Players didn’t make Yun the way he is, it was Capcom. Yun Players are just playing the Yun that Capcom intended him to be.
Please have a look at Nemo’s Yang at Kumite to see how Yang is indeed scary… The low hitconfirms are juste leading to insane mix-ups. True hell.

Why do people keep trying to cite the sweep glitch, has anyone actually used this in a match before?
Now that we know about it, I’m sure we’re going to see a lot more counter hit cr.HK setups with mashed ultra just in case it trades.
yeah it’s going to be so easy to bait someone into trading with your shitty sweep with a jab or something that gives similar hitstun, and then only risk is ending up -6 on block.
or you could tick someone into a command grab.
Seriously it’s like a 1 in 500 chance, if anything maybe the Yun player will develop carpal tunnel from mashing ultra every time he sweeps
or maybe daigo will invent the greatest answer to crouch teching EVER
By that logic, everybody is going to develop carpal tunnel from doing option selects and buffering specials after their normals.
