Online Edition Patch Thread

Scores/healthbars?

I’m not feeling the way they fixed but it never really disturbed me to begin with.

Exactly this…

Could give a fuck about the character portraits. As soon as somebody got hit or hit a button, you could easily figure out who’s who - life bar decreases, super gauge increases…
Meh.

I also cared a lot about that bag flipping over (Still dont’ get why THIS of all fucking things was a big deal)

Btw is this just 3SOE and arcade thing or does it exist in the earlier console versions?

I don’t think the bag flipping over was a huge deal to anyone. It was more a running joke. ‘Those finicky 3s fans!’

I’d like them to make those color portrait bars a toggle- able option. They’re not the end if the world but I would play with them off if given the choice.

when dave originally mentioned the swatch idea months ago, i thought it was going to look cheesy as hell, but what they did do looks fairly stylish and acceptable. although i thought it would’ve been on a more inconspicuous part of the screen so that the difference between mirror and non-mirror matches wouldn’t be so apparent. maybe if they can keep the same concept but make the gradient fade a little earlier it might be less striking. i feel like it should only catch your eye if you’re consciously looking for it. imo it would’ve looked dope if the same idea was just integrated into the grey part of the health bar.

excuse me.

IDK man…

I was looking for it, and barely noticed it in the demo. I can only imagine that it would be even less distracting when you’re watching a match, especially when it’s worth watching… Last thing I’m going to look at is the health bars, unless I see some combo I’ve never seen and I’m like, “How much did that do?”

I don’t mind the color bars. I probably won’t even be noticing them, tbh. Hopefully this patch hits before 2014.

Its more of the game being sworn on the first born as arcade perfect… and it wasn’t.
those pallet smears look terrible but at this point, at least they fixed the bars.

I look forward to trying out the new netcode in 2015 when this patch releases.

If I’m not part of the “I think they’re just boned” club.

Dave responded and said they’ve finished their part and its all on Capcom now. So no more changes unless Capcom finds a bug. Shame it can’t look exactly like arcade but that’s the ropes I suppose.

Who wants to play Ill be on most of the afternoon.

Yet there’s no fix issue on the music packs. :frowning:

When this drops, I’ll be picking the game back up. Looks pretty damned good.

My issue with the mirror match colors was more about how they worded the “fix”.

“Added some graphics to indicate player color during mirror matches. We didn’t end up altering the character portraits, but instead put some colored lines next to it. This ended up looking better, and still achieves the goal of showing which player is what color(s).”

The health bars already cover a lot of the screen, so I naturally assumed that they would put some lines ON the health bars, next to the portraits based on how ^ was worded, instead, we have gradients bleeding through an area that was otherwise clear…

I would’ve preferred the original portraits, especially for the character select screen… Why is Q not facing away? Why doesn’t Oro look like he just smelled something nasty?(probably himself…) Alex without the suit? Or how about Ken not looking creepy as hell? Where’s Remy doing a failed Batusi?.. Nevermind…

Aside from that, I’m going to be happy with the removal of that bloat in the netcode, as I said before, DSR’s online feels like magic.

wow i just checked it out and it’s actually there. what happened? after they took it off and you had to go into that breakers(?) or whatever room and rename the rom and play like 5 people that knew about it, i just left ggpo. glad to see it’s back for now.

Speaking of smelly. I just realized we don’t have any fat characters in 3s.

I would have liked to see better matchmaking options, I feel like I’m still gonna be playing against online scrubs still. The color hud isn’t too bad especially since our gamertags are displayed inside that space already. It would have been ideal if we could have just gone back to the old hud though.

Its a shame that iron galaxy learned from the mistakes from our game but won’t go back and fix all of them (not replacing the hud in games, resetting level cap, and etc).

Wow, I’m a dope, I forgot that the GT’s are placed there… hehe. So it’s not so bad online, but it’s another story if you play OE offline, which means you may be better off removing the patch (Unless you mind the Aegis, Ryu bag and Poison color issues). I don’t know if that’s easy on PS3, but on 360 it’s pretty simple =/

Yeah I was thinking about that also. If you mainly play offline… why patch? The bugs that freeze the game are almost all related to online, the improvements are all netcode and matchmaking related, and a couple aesthetic fixes (Ryu’s bag, Aegis color).

So I guess it comes down to “would you rather have super meters be the right length, or not add those color gradiant things for mirror matches?”
