Online Edition Patch Thread

Now that I think about that, I bet most offline players will prefer the correct length bars and will look past the gradient mirror match colors.

I know that if I had been playing with the correct length bars for as long as they have, I’d jump on the chance to DED properly/easier again… In the case of someone like me? DED is going to have to be relearned with this correction. I don’t mind at all, more 3S = happy me = )

need that big long shin sho bar so ppl know what’s up.

I have never had “dropped” EX inputs on cps3, dont know where they are getting that from…

Yeah, it sounds like BS to me. Can any of you guys who play on arcade confirm this?

What happened is that after MVC Origins came out and Ponder removed the MVC1 and Super Heroes rooms everyone got super pissed when the Marvel players started descending on other rooms to keep playing. Unlike Karnov (Good game IMHO, better than ST) the number of people who played Vampire and one other game bitched loud enough that Ponder added all the games he’s removed back on.

You can try it in FBA if you want to see for yourself. go for Makoto low short -> EX oroshi. first do it correctly and watch EX come out. now make low short negative edge at the same time as you input EX oroshi. now EX is dropped. it’s 100% consistent and easy to see. happens in both emulators and in OE, and I haven’t checked but I’m sure it happens on PS2 also. if it happens in both emulators I’m sure it happens on real arcade hardware as well.

Technically, though, that’s not a dropped EX input. That’s just bad execution.

Whatever the case, it’s too late to change now because you have all reached a consensus. In my experience, the only times I dropped an EX input was when I dropped a frame or two which was, usually, during the start up of my opponent’s normal. But whatever.

i’ve played the arcade version many times and never had a problem with EX drops. maybe it is more lenient or something, it’s just something i didn’t notice until i played 3soe. even on emu i never noticed it. it’s great that people have been able to reproduce it but it just seems different. 3s is just too weird here and there to get arcade perfect ports.

Online Editon drops tons of inputs ONLINE which is why I think so many people complain about dropped ex inputs. If you play offline the inputs for ex are fine. At least from testing.

Dropping inputs online isn’t bad execution. It’s online. Shit happens. I wish people would stop taking online play so fucking seriously.

no he was saying the only time you get dropped ex on arcade is from bad execution.

and like Ive said, Ive never experienced it on arcade either.

if anything wouldn’t this really just be due to limitations in usb simultaneous inputs? the way windows or the xbox/ps3 is handling the controller or something.
once it gets to 3 buttons (not including stick) it prob just knocks the last one out of the queue or something.

i will bet anybody that they did not fix q’s portrait. actually i could do a big list on all the issues the game has that they did 100% certain not fix, but i’ll wait for the patch to drop in the next century or so.

the color gradients looked gay btw, why not just use a solid colored frame around the character portrait or something? smh

shut up

If I hit all six buttons at the same time, my EX still comes out. The game simply doesn’t accept EX’s if you negative edge an opposite button on the same frame. Instead, it only registers the highest priority button of the special you’re inputting, L+H = H etc.

This also happens on double negative edges, just hold down Jab, Strong and RH, QCF and let go. No EX can happen if you release them at the same time.

As stated above, online drops a ton of inputs, hopefully with the improvement in patch, that will be fixed.

I don’t even try to red parry online… Shit’s impossible if your timing isn’t trained for the lag.

ah yeah duh i should have known that.

although that may be true as they did admit to bloated packets which they’ve fixed, i only play this version of the game because it’s online (and because for a while it was taken off ggpo). too many people have stopped taking this game seriously and the only time i can play offline is on some weekends when friends come over. i’ve seen it at some tourneys i go to but people don’t know what they’re doing because they don’t take it seriously and it’s not on the list of games, it’s just a time waster on the side while they wait for their name to be called.
i wish i could afford to get the actual cps3 board and a head-to-head arcade setup but i can’t and have to get most of my kicks from online play. i also wished i lived closer to the LA area but i’m at least 3 hours away. online is really all i care about when it comes to 3Soe since it’s impossible for it to be arcade perfect. oh well.

Welp. Here’s hoping. Mazel tov, kids.

All this EX dropping nonsense could have been isolated, tested and fixed a long time ago if they implemented an input display. That way people could see where an EX was supposed to come out, but didn’t.
