Hey guys… it’s been a minute! I’ve been semi-retired for the last couple of months. I’ve decided to all but quit SF4, but I plan to continue playing 3S at a solid but moderate intensity going forward. There were several extremely important real life things I had to deal with, including some stuff with my health I had to get in order, and I’ve also gotten back into school to finish up my music education over the next six months or so. The good news is that all going better than I ever could have hoped so far, knock on wood. I miss 3S and I am popping on for a handful of hours throughout the week, but for at least another couple of months I’ll still be playing sparingly, with a strong chance of more during my lengthy winter break from school.
All of that said, what pushed me over the edge to post this was that I’m REALLY PUMPED about the patch. THANK YOU IRON GALAXY. They have seriously restored my faith in humanity. I hope everyone else is pretty psyched too, and thankful, because I put the chances of such an extensive patch coming through at about 1% until the amazing developments with Ryan meeting with the Iron Galaxy guys, etc. went down. FUCK… YES…
I never even made an official shout out post after Evo… I knew after Evo I would have to start turning my mind to some other things, which I did (very slowly haha), but damn that was one of the best weekends of my life. I miss a bunch of you guys IRL and on XBL you know who you are - and we’ll definitely be playing more in the future. As those I’m Facebook friends with who saw I recently added my first cover photo (Akuma’s stage background) can attest… 3S still does and always will have a big piece of my heart!!!

I like the online method of counter picking. hover over a character like Ibuki or Elena at the last second pick your main which is either Ken or Akuma

We were able to successfully address the Netcode complaints. The Netcode is identical to what’s in MvCO, which has received a great response thus far.
Not trying to sound like a downer, but MvC already ran beautifully on GGPO, so of course they’d get a great response. o_O
The changes are definitely welcomed, I’m not sure if its enough to sway me from playing on the PC though. At the end of the day, you’re still playing on Microsoft and Sony’s overpopulated servers. Also, ranked-games doesn’t appeal to me, I’d rather play a set with someone, which is almost impossible if you aren’t friends with them. Yes, I know you can join a non-ranked lobby, but I hate waiting to play, why would I want to wait to play? Did the designers think that would give the game a more arcade feel? Because its literally the worst thing about playing arcade, unless you’re watching skilled players fight, which 95% of the time isn’t the case on 3soe.
PC is still shit, its just less shit at the moment. I wonder if GGPO is actually the best net-code for 3s?
I don’t know under what logic can you berate Sony’s and Microsoft’s servers when 60% of the time GGPO servers are so clogged up by chinese and mexican KoF players you can’t get a match on in any other game without grinding challenge for a 1000 times.

Btw, I have trouble connecting with people maybe 1 out of 30 times when I’m on GGPO. 60% is pretty high, that sounds like a nightmare, you should probably stick to 3soe.
