Online Edition Patch Thread

Plus getting rid of the grey crap on the sides of the screen.

World Tour would be what,

vs “Super sick Necro”

Tutorial would be very nice, even if only beginner essentials and Intermediate, due to the “pros” the company brought in. Break that stigma right away with "Oh he did this but I was expecting this, but he did that! :D:) " you douchebag david commentator, its 2012, stop it. Don’t ever say “Nice tech” (midscreen throw break, big deal amazing nothing nice about it) or laud the amazing incoming mixups by Viper or Seth or blocked divekicks ever again.

That’s a real negative tangent sorry, but just want to say, waiting, ticks, small blockstrings expecting things blocked, whiffs and more are all part of 3rd Strike’s many mixups. That would be a lesson I think would be beneficial when people get to the point of: “wakeup parry is a good idea, it gets me wins!”

I’m not close to being a 3s vet or anything, but skimming thru this thread makes me more upset with Capcom and IG. I was just looking for a release window for the patch but man, a see lot went wrong.

At first I was just mad that they messed with the original look. The new art isn’t terrible per se, but why mess with what’s not broken or in this case, much better? (I’m talking original intro (even if bordered), Ikeno’s drawings in menus, original character select screen, HUD, etc.) Even if HUD is changed, the super bars too? That bites. Music, arcade should be included.

Online, I don’t mind so much, it’s alright but I think could easily have been better. Visual options too could have been better. What, is plain or nice wallpaper borders too much to ask for? SF ladies in sexy outfits on the sides?

Gameplay being significantly off is obviously no good. I had no idea it was so bad till a skimmed this thread. It seems most problems arise from the speed of the game.

And game freezing the console in this day and age? Happened to me several times and I only started playing a lot 2 months ago. Yikes!

I think the design philosophy was wrong. If I were the producer, the goal would have been EMULATE as accurately as possible (as in just have it run the ROM and add menus and such as necessary and where convenient. Convenience especially in online menus. Virtua Fighter 5: FS comes to mind as a great port with great online (not to mention $15 for the base game). I understand 3s is a different beast but still. In other words, give us 3rd Strike in all its original glory with solid online interface and performance. Yes, I’m echoing some of you guys I know but just gotta say that’s how I feel as well.

Note: I talked to my cousin about why 3s is so hard to do on consoles since he’s a board collector (has CPSIII hardware), is crazy about accuracy, and has the know-how and means to achieve it. He says 3s (I guess all CPSIII?) runs at a atypical resolution and runs at a strange rate (in the upper 50’s I recall but significantly less than 60). He got pretty technical, basically saying current consoles (TV’s too iirc) were not designed for that at all and so it’s hard to replicate on them. He’s a shmup collector and he says same thing for all Cave (other companies as well) ports for current consoles, even when they’re handled in house, the speed is off (driving crazy shmup fans nuts). But still, I feel emulation and spare but effective “adding” would have produced something better than what we got.

Oh well, I’m still gonna enjoy what we got and hope the patch fixes things and then some. After all, I still consider myself a beginner and it is teaching me the game.

FUN FACT EDIT: I’m quoting my cuz on this, but he says 3s is the only CPSIII game that requires extra RAM.

Tags on the replays on PSN not showing up properly needs to be fixed. For example I uploaded two replays to my channel only to realize the gamertag for the opponent was someone I played BEFORE I played the guy in the video. Also the tag positions for the 1p side and 2p side is wrong in another video and I had to clarify that in the description. Zrotolerance77 didn’t participate in either one of these videos and I’m the one playing Elena in the 2nd one:

The names on the replay is correct now on my system, but it wasn’t at the time I uploaded and it’s not letting me re-upload them.

I posted this in the GD thread, but i fig figured it should go here to.

[]We were able to successfully address the Netcode complaints. The Netcode is identical to what’s in MvCO, which has received a great response thus far.
[
]Replaced Ping colors with numbers (in milliseconds).
[]We added matchmaking filters for Region, Opponent Skill, and Ping. This works like MvCO, where they are managed from a separate screen for all online game modes.
[
]Lobbies can be created to limit players to the same region you are in.
[]Fixed the 8-max lobby problem on PS3.
[
]Added ability to “Mute All” on PS3. 360 players can handle this through the Guide.
[]Super Art gauges are now the correct length.
[
]Fixed the color of Urien’s reflector for Player 2.
[]Fixed Ryu’s bag not flopping over correctly.
[
]Added ability to turn off Challenges that appear on the side of the screen.
[]The Difficulty setting now affects Arcade Mode.
[
]Fixed the visual glitch in Remy’s stage with Scan Lines on.
[]Added some graphics to indicate player color during mirror matches. We didn’t end up altering the character portraits, but instead put some colored lines next to it. This ended up looking better, and still achieves the goal of showing which player is what color(s).
[
]Added “Disable Stun” to training options.
[]Defaulted Gill to “Banned” in Player Match.
[
]The selection highlight remembers the last super you selected in multi-match modes. It doesn’t auto-pick it, the cursor just starts off on the last-selected super.
[]Rank should no longer get reset to 0.
[
]Put Ready/Unready on separate controller buttons in lobby.
[]Fixed the Poison color being incorrect for Player 2.
[
]Fixed some random locks/hangs.
[]Made some changes to how the leaderboards get updated on PS3.
[
]YouTube uploads on 360 will be at 360p now.[/details]

BIGDONGSTUDIOS > irongalaxystudios.

wonder how the colors by characters will go.

A tried and true idea out there actually is, Karate tournaments. For judging, just the Red and White flags. Cloth for that is Tied behind the belt. As seen in Samurai Shodown by the judge guy even, “Kuroko” was it?

Red + Elena stage I dunno. Give it a border or its own box contrast 2nd color maybe. or I guess its going to be up in the HUD somewhere anyway?

what they explained makes a lot more sense. just put a little dot or something of the color that char is next to the portait. no need to be fancy about it.

the sam sho dude is in there cause he’s appropriate to that series.

Just to say, limit it to 2 colors. Red and White. No need for all those colorpack puke neons…

Lobby displaying the wrong order, having froze up is something else not listed.

oh ok I get you…sort of. except you still wouldn’t know unless they marked the color on the sprite.

we should play with denim lander. he has been a cunt recently.

ok so difficulty affects arcade mode but we can’t up the rounds on arcade mode still? -__-

I see what you are trying to do, but then they’ll think it’s infinitely close to what Ken should be and not actually Ken and they’ll get all sorts of confused. We don’t want confusion, yes?

It’s a feature.

I hate features.

Hidden Randomness?!

Or that answer.

Usability HUD, colors pleasing to the eye, making sure information is known, is a science unto itself. I’ll leave it to the pros. Hopefully not Floe pros…!

Oh shit.
"Its my rematch & I want it now"
Reminded me, We come up with more of we want… after news of patch. Should’ve got it in earlier.

Stop with 2-3 menus after player match to get the rematch. Remove the “challenges updated” screens!

I just hope this patch which seems huge will not bring a lot of bugs… take your time guys.

Okay, I heard from a fairly unreliable source that it’s rumored that they’re going to add Zangief and Sagat as characters in the fucking Third Strike Online patch, in ‘order to get SF4 people interested in Third Strike.’ I haven’t yet been able to find this on Google, and it’s nowhere on this site. Also, that guy is a bullshitting type, and I swear he’s making this up just to fuck with me.

Has anyone heard this? Is there any truth to this rumor?

I just noticed on Iron Galaxy’s website that they are working on an unannounced project for Capcom. I really want it to be Vampire savior.

Daniel, that was just weak. Please find another lost community to bore.

You do know that they are going to make a new Darkstalkers game, right?

Now someone answer if you’ve heard about this:
