Plinking makes links easier by copying a button press on to the next frame.
Also you can get a TE for $120 easy. That’s 2 video games.
pad isnt so ba. Its possible to be good. If not using a fight pad you might have to reange a few buttons, but its definitly doable to get good.
My explanation of plink:
Its a basically a glitch. You press and hold 1 button. then quickly press another. If done fast enough the game will think you pressed the first button TWICE instead of just once.
If you are super awesome with links, you dont have to bother. But if you mess up press the link 1 frame too early, this will give you a 2nd chance to hit it. and that is good. (Although if you press the link 1 frame too late, it of course wont work.)
does anyone here use f.rh, link super? I’ve been playing around with it and it’s not too bad of a hit confirm link, especially if f.rh is done as a meaty.
but you can link the super from a non-meaty f.rh as well. I’ve seen some people do f.rh xx super as a pure guess, so i was thinking doing it as a link instead gives you some time to hit confirm.
You’re not guessing if you do the dartshot meaty and throw it with the intention to do super after it. If that’s the situation, then all you’re doing is throwing out the dartshot buffering the super command and doing a sight confirm. It would actually be easier to do this than to not do it meaty.
Dart Shot is +4 on hit. You have a million years to link Super after it, should you so wish.
Although as someone said earlier, linking st.HK after the Dart Shot then cancelling that into either Ducking Uppercut or MK Short Swing Blow and then cancelling into Super is both safer to hit confirm, and does tons more damage.
Just want to throw it out there since it’s not in the first post, but if you get a chance to do an easy punish or land the business elbow jump-in near the corner, doing liver blow xx st. rh xx jet upper xx jab mgb does a ton of damage and stun for no meter.
If you land it on the jump-in it does around 400 damage for no meter. Also, any combo with ducking upper xx fadc xx cr. jab or cr. jabx2 into more combo is really good done mid-screen since it will help you push the opponent into the corner. I think those combos are good enough to learn the timing for ducking upper xx cr. jab.
Or you could save the meter, use EX MGB and then go for duck straight > lp. MGB. Still does a buttload of a damage and stun and pushes them way across the map.
i think the timing for it is character specific. Sweep x2 is free on rog. I don’t remember if i’ve landed in on any of the characters you’ve mentioned though.
Those characters fall too fast after the EX MGB, which is why you can only land one. There’s a few people saying they THINK it’s possible but aren’t actually trying it. I tried it manually on Makoto for an hour, and was going through the whole roster manually until I noticed that it’s easier on some than others and could not do at all on the others. So I recorded doing it on Chun Li instead of manually on everyone and just played back on the either roster.
Like it was easier on Honda than it was on Ryu but impossible on Ibuki. I saw Ibuki fall relatively faster than others (looked like her fall would gain speed on the way down, while others falls were floaty or the same speed the whole way down).
I was looking at the duck straight > HP JU list and decided to test something.
So Balrog can be hit by LK duck straight > HP JU so I thought I’ll try MK duck straight > HP JU and sure enough that works. So I’m going on a limb until I test it on the entire LK duck straight group that MK duck straight works just as well so I can remember that MK duck = midscreen and LK duck = corner.
Just thought I’d share.
UPDATE:
MK duck straight doesn’t hit everyone. So far I’ve found out it whiffs on:
Doing LP JU > HP JU on a Dudley is odd. A raw LP JU from a close as possible will sometimes whiff (I think I stepped forward a tiny bit the times I did land it). If you combo into the LP JU, HP JU will whiff.
You know, against most characters in the corner, EX MGB > LK Duck Straight > Ultra actually does more damage than 2x Sweep. Notably this isnt the case on Balrog who takes less hits from the Ultra, which might be why a small child can land 2x Sweeps on him after the pop up.
And yeh 2x Sweeps after EX MGB is char specific. I know for a fact it doesnt work against Cammy. Also, I don’t even think landing MK Ducking Straight against Bison mid screen after an EX MGB is possible
