That is the mystery, it seems like the Animal Kingdom pirates are aware but Orochi and his forces are not. Kinemon and crew actually came back through time at Wano, meet with some folk claiming to be rebels then went to sea trying to recruit. Somehow Doflamingo got them, whether it was targeted or just dude being evil is left vague. The thing with Kaido finding out about Zou, Raizo and the recent leak of plans we have yet to find out. A few theories about Momonosuke but right now no one knows for certain.

So my GF has now completed the 1st half of the story and is now entering the time skip. She’s enjoyed the story so far. Not too bad from starting at square one in January to going to fishman island as of yesterday

I would love to see Luffy or Zoro go full pirate on a enemy. Someone they despise enough to come at with no remorse or mercy. Like maybe an enemy lands a near fatal blow on a strawhat, and Luffy beats them to death to send a message to anyone that would also think to come at them like that.
It would show just how fierce the game has gotten now that they are this deep in the grandline. Can’t make it this far without getting blood on your hands and putting some determined enemies down for good
I think like with Ace’s death Oda is reserving Luffy’s level of murderous fury for characters like Akainu (although I fear Oda actually wants humanize him in the future), Charcoalbeard and Im. Characters who have directly impacted Luffy and his crew’s well-being and possibly present a threat to the world in the future.
I don’t think he’ll ever make Luffy clear-cut murk someone with an attack but instead put them in a fated position to die like Batman does in the comics. That said, I don’t think Luffy as a character is above killing someone if needs to (Luffy didn’t look like he held back when he Juggernaut Punched that snot-nosed Tenryuubito) but Oda simply creates scenarios where it doesn’t occur.
Zoro on the other hand probably doesn’t have that barrier. He did canonically kill Mr.7 and presumably those bounty hunters on Whiskey Peak, for example.
