Up web zip may work but you wouldn’t want to do that, especially if Spencer calls up an assist.
You could block on the way up though
If we’re playing the same game, you’d not want to be on the blocking end.
Haha true. I’ll just super jump like a crazy person like I usually do when I fight spencer.
Spidey vs dive kicks:
Doom
Trish
Wolverine
Do you block to punish? Advance block to just get your breathing room back? M.web throw? What do you do, and why?
it’s all completely dependent. dooms is extremely unsafe if he’s already used his air dash, wolverines is very safe and trish’s is beyond safe. you don’t want to push block doom if he’s already used his air dash because he can’t do anything but x factor until he hits the ground. I think Xero found that you can spider sting trish’s divekick and I wouldn’t suggest challenging wolverines unless you’re in the right spot to web swing

If you crouch block dooms footdive, can he still air dash to the ground? I’m wondering because I am pretty sure you can’t air dash after footdive if you are too low.
Doom can’t dash after a crouch blocked :s: footdive. It’s not a good idea to punish the :h: footdive though because Doom can still retaliate with j:m: or :s: footdive after.
Yeah I meant the :s: footdive. Thank you for the answer. I might try to integrate that into my gameplay, but it might not be a great idea, because if the Doom player is good they will probably go for j. for the overhead instead of doing a random :s: footdive. Unfortunately, I am not a very good Doom player so I footdive for days
I dunno if its been mentioned but you can pretty much get full screen hit confirms with spidey. Web ball L, cancel into forward web zip then immediately do jH, jS, j web swing L, jM, jM, jS, land, into any combo you want. Web ball at the beginning isn’t really necessary, but it covers your entry pretty well. Timing is a little strict, but not hard to get down at all. -shrug- a lot of people don’t seem to expect spidey coming in that fast.
You can also cancel the web zip mid way into an air dash to change his trajectory, and even do a jL to bring him to the ground from his air dash so you can go low.
Not sure if anyone has found this but I might as well. I was in the lab with Pete yesterday (Dante was the dummy IIRC) when I was messing around with web ball, when I shot him with it I was able to dash UNDERNEATH him. I could see this being really dirty.
I did notice this and mentioned in a while back for those who are far better than me to try and do something with. So far I haven’t seen anyone mention anything in regards to it but I could have missed it. I do know that if you land them in the light spider sting spider bite ground bounce you have just barely enough time to land a medium web ball but seeing as how my execution for this game still blows I’ve yet to manage to land the strict timing and keep a cool enough head to see if you can pull the cross up before they break out. But keep experimenting. Maybe something can come of this technology one day.
It’s possible to do even after a ground series ending in c:h: to web ball. However, you won’t be able to get a cross up if your opponent’s back is either the corner or the at the end of the screen camera. It’s pretty good for a mini reset if your opponent hasn’t seen it yet but since Marvel is a game of pushing buttons, you’re going to end up eating a combo if you even attempt it.
At the end of a combo if they are in the corner I guess you could try calling in an assist to keep them lockdown after they bounce out and cancelling the web ball into a vertical web zip to keep them there. There are more effective resets for the corner though.
That web ball thing doesn’t seem to work on every character, been only able to get it on normal size or bigger (ie standing Wolvie is a no go). I use it to troll on my team when I have X-23 on point and Spider-Man on Web Ball assist, pretty funny.
This is another thing that makes this the best/dumbest game.
In other news, been trying to Crawler Assault scrubby helm breakers on reaction. Will be interesting to see how well this works out in the coming weeks. I find chicken blocking it to be kinda hard to do well since the fast normals on Pete are so stubby.
Vergil’s helm breaker is +0 without DT and his fastest normal, c:l: has 5 frames of start up while Spidey’s s:l: has 4 frames so I think you can beat him out if he decides to do anything besides blocking or cancelling to a super.
vergil can cancel helm breaker into specials and S on block/hit (when vergil lands)
I think you can beat any of Vergil’s specials (except probably rising sun), not sure about :s: though and I honestly haven’t seen or played anyone do :s: after helm breaker. Will test it if I get bored.
Chicken guard -> ground throw is the answer.
Also, in regards to the web ball cross-up stuff, I wouldn’t suggest messing with it too much because it’s hard to set up a web ball, outside of full screen range, where you have enough frame advantage to set up a cross-up; people that really like to push buttons will be likely to hit you out of it on attempt. However, this might grant the cross-up ability to point characters utilizing web ball assist, so there might be something ridiculous lying there. I’ll have to write it down somewhere to remind me so that I can explore that idea when I get the free time.
I know the frames on it and such, but I hate letting ones outside of close range rock. Peter’s L’s are so stubby, and there’s a good chance Vergil’s ridiculously disjointed stand or crouch L will beat it out too. Of course there’s ground throw too. 80k is 80k I guess, but I don’t want to get into an H mashing contest with Vergil either, haha. He goes all “POWER POLE EXTEEEEEEEEEEND” when he presses H, while Spidey just does a sweet backflip with okay range, bad pushback, okay startup, okay hitstun.
I deal with bad helm breakers pretty, would just like to kill off all good and bad ones since chicken blocking and punishing better placed ones is hit or miss. A properly placed Crawler Assault should beat out anything he cancels into, too.
Will give all of the suggestions a shot, see how they do against better Vergils.
